(I don't care if he's too old for the role, I'd watch the hell out of that)
But I will say I think everything worked out for the best as it did.
I could easily let three of Moore's films go, especially when they misused the source material or were just plain bad. I like my odds that I would lose a bad Moore film, leaving the adaptation for another day and Bond.
So my vote is one less Moore.
DAD is such a sad end to Brosnan's tenure, that any 5th film would have been an improvement. I really think TWINE showed that Brosnan's Bond was ready to be taken into new exciting directions. Would have loved to see a Casino Royale starring Brosnan, though I wouldn't miss out on the one we got with Craig. Could we get one of each?
Anyway, I haven't given up on a 5th Brosnan Bond film yet, I think he should be the next James Bond. If Michael Keaton can return as Batman, Pierce Brosnan can return as James Bond for one film, as an older version of the character. He is still in good shape, and it gives EON more time to find the 7th Bond actor, that can do 4-5 films.
What kind of question is that?!
I presumed it as either AVTAK with Dalton or CR with Brosnan, although if that's the case, most would choose the former. But obviously if it is one more Bond film vs one less, then the answer is also most likely quite obvious as well. (Although I could do without Moonraker...)
I think it depends on one's opinion of the Moore era. Personally, I'd rate 4/7 of Moore's films as good. If it was one of the three I don't like, then maybe we'd get a better adaptation of those novels/short story later.
My opinion on the Moore era is as mixed as yours, I guess. I just wonder we'd completely agree on which movie(s) should be discarded. I'm not a particular fan of the last two, nor TMWTGG, and TSWLM keeps dropping in my ranking as well. But leave me my LALD, MR and FYEO, in spite of their shortcomings.
Well, you know what I mean. But not if it changes the timestream of the other films.
One fewer Moore might have removed Brosnan from the timeline altogether. Or not. He clearly was on Cubby's radar from FYEO.
Hard to say what that would have done to AVTAK. Would it be Dalton? We probably would still get Duran Duran's song, because they just hated All Time High.
It's not at all hard to picture Dalton with Walken and Jones and Macgee although I think he would be bizarrely paired with Roberts. Tonally AVTAK and LTK are more similar to each other than to TLD. But the AVTAK script would still be terrible.
Would you rather the new actor dress in a suit for his Gunbarrel OR dress in a tuxedo?
I would generally be happy with them, in conjunction with other writers.
Sorry @echo I changed it when I realized we had used that one before.
If I was to choose though, I'd go with the tux!
Specifically, no tux in the gun barrel if it's seen elsewhere and tux in the gun barrel if it's not seen elsewhere. I want the Bond tux no more than once during a film, and it doesn't have to appear in every film. To me it's a statement and should be used sparingly. But if it's not seen in the film it's gotta be on the poster. :))
From GE to DAD we had some form to this scene. CR and QOS didn't really have them nor did SF or SP. One could argue that NTTD had a few scenes that might qualify. I got some chills when at the end of SF Bond and M were back in that classic Mi6 office.
Would you rather a traditional M/Bond briefing scene OR briefing on the fly in the field?
