I’m of the opinion that I wouldn’t want to wish away a Bond film. So one more Brosnan film…

But I will say I think everything worked out for the best as it did.

Brosnan is not my favorite Bond but he was ill-served by his scripts and directors, especially after GE. But he was given twice as many chances as Dalton to get it right!

I could easily let three of Moore's films go, especially when they misused the source material or were just plain bad. I like my odds that I would lose a bad Moore film, leaving the adaptation for another day and Bond.

So my vote is one less Moore.

Brosnan is actually the only Bond actor I wish had done one more film (perhaps Lazenby also). Connery was clearly tired of the role and Moore's Bond overstayed its welcome and I was ready to move on from Craig after having seen Spectre. While I love Dalton, I don't think his dark, humorless take on the character would have worked for too many movies in a row, then they would have to change his Bond, and that would definitely not work. Can't imagine him in GoldenEye for instance. A second Lazenby film would be interesting as a follow up to OHMSS, but it would have been very difficult to top his debut.
DAD is such a sad end to Brosnan's tenure, that any 5th film would have been an improvement. I really think TWINE showed that Brosnan's Bond was ready to be taken into new exciting directions. Would have loved to see a Casino Royale starring Brosnan, though I wouldn't miss out on the one we got with Craig. Could we get one of each?

Anyway, I haven't given up on a 5th Brosnan Bond film yet, I think he should be the next James Bond. If Michael Keaton can return as Batman, Pierce Brosnan can return as James Bond for one film, as an older version of the character. He is still in good shape, and it gives EON more time to find the 7th Bond actor, that can do 4-5 films.

If pressed, I suppose I would prefer more Bond films to fewer Bond films.

What kind of question is that?!

I presumed it as either AVTAK with Dalton or CR with Brosnan, although if that's the case, most would choose the former. But obviously if it is one more Bond film vs one less, then the answer is also most likely quite obvious as well. (Although I could do without Moonraker...)

This is a little like "heads - I win, tails - you lose!", isn't it? Why should I wish for one less Bond film by anybody rather than have the chance of seeing an extra movie? Even the opportunity to endlessly complain about another Brosnan (in the vein of TWINE and DAD) would be worth the try.

One more Brosnan for me. I love Moore's era a lot, especially the back half, but I really think Pierce still had it in him to knock it out of the park with a more grounded but still blazingly entertaining fifth installment. If only.

Good question! Does one less Moore mean we get one more Dalton too? Does one more Brosnan mean it comes in the 2002-2006 gap and we still get the exact same CR in 2006?

I think it depends on one's opinion of the Moore era. Personally, I'd rate 4/7 of Moore's films as good. If it was one of the three I don't like, then maybe we'd get a better adaptation of those novels/short story later.

My opinion on the Moore era is as mixed as yours, I guess. I just wonder we'd completely agree on which movie(s) should be discarded. I'm not a particular fan of the last two, nor TMWTGG, and TSWLM keeps dropping in my ranking as well. But leave me my LALD, MR and FYEO, in spite of their shortcomings.

One less Moore, b/c that last one for Moore...hmm...It might have lead to one more Dalton were AVTAK his first - with significant script modifications, of course. I do not know whether having Dalton appear sooner would have avoided the legal tangle which IRL kept him from getting a third done, but, it would have been nice to get three from him, by starting sooner. A tough call because one more Brosnan would have been nice, either as a way to reel in from the awful aspects - that nasty CGI - of DAD, or just to get one out after it which hopefully would have been much better. On balance, I think one fewer Moore Bonds, letting him go out on a high, an all time high, would have been better. Less, indeed, would have been Moore.

    Moore Brosnan.

Well, you know what I mean. But not if it changes the timestream of the other films.

On more Brosnan, provided it wasn't DAD 2.

One fewer Moore might have removed Brosnan from the timeline altogether. Or not. He clearly was on Cubby's radar from FYEO.

Hard to say what that would have done to AVTAK. Would it be Dalton? We probably would still get Duran Duran's song, because they just hated All Time High.

It's not at all hard to picture Dalton with Walken and Jones and Macgee although I think he would be bizarrely paired with Roberts. Tonally AVTAK and LTK are more similar to each other than to TLD. But the AVTAK script would still be terrible.

Love this! It always felt like Pierce needed another film, I am not a fan of how he was released, but I suppose that's business.

Would you rather the new actor dress in a suit for his Gunbarrel OR dress in a tuxedo?

Here comes the anti-Purvis and Wade hellfire...

I would generally be happy with them, in conjunction with other writers.

Sorry @echo I changed it when I realized we had used that one before.

I think it should be done in a tux, but frankly my dear, I don't give damn. As long as there is one.
I agree @CommanderRoss, so long as we definitely get one!
If I was to choose though, I'd go with the tux!

Tuxedo, but it’s not something I’m adamant about.

I think I've answered this one before. No tux in the gun barrel, but somewhere in the film.

Specifically, no tux in the gun barrel if it's seen elsewhere and tux in the gun barrel if it's not seen elsewhere. I want the Bond tux no more than once during a film, and it doesn't have to appear in every film. To me it's a statement and should be used sparingly. But if it's not seen in the film it's gotta be on the poster. :))

Lets chat about another aspect of the films that has been sorely lacking in recent years. The briefing scene. Bond summoned to Mi6 and given his orders from M. Sometimes others were present, sometimes it was M and Bond.

From GE to DAD we had some form to this scene. CR and QOS didn't really have them nor did SF or SP. One could argue that NTTD had a few scenes that might qualify. I got some chills when at the end of SF Bond and M were back in that classic Mi6 office.

Would you rather a traditional M/Bond briefing scene OR briefing on the fly in the field?
I quite like a good M/Bond briefing. I’d prefer one for the next film that only involves M and Bond in the room (gives the mission a sense of secrecy. It’s not quite the same when you have a bunch of old men in the room as the Moore era tended to do.

Traditional, but let's be honest, every briefing scene is a highlight. Preferably with some little M habit like knocking the tobacco out of his pipe, or threatening to recall 008 from Hong Kong. A bit of disagreement between the men to spice things up. I like when there's another expert in the room and it's shown that Bond isn't an encyclopedia. A new office each time, if only subtle changes.

Traditional for me too, though I do like the confrontational scene in LTK at Hemingway house!
