Would you rather run into Fields at the airport OR Paloma at a bar?

I was tempted to say returning, but then again thought that except for Sam Mendes and Marc Forster, I can't see any other returning, for various reasons (age and, well, allegations). And I don't think either would be right to return for a new Bond. As much as I love QOS it's one of the most divisive Bond films. Same goes with SP: as much as I enjoyed it I don't see Mendes returning.

For the other question, although I find GE the superior movie the parachute jump with the Union Jack singlehandedly made the film and maybe even saved the whole franchise, so there can't be any competition.

To answer the question, I'll quote Danny Glover's character from Lethal Weapon: "I'm too old for this shit."

Yeah both choices scare the crap out of me but I am going to say I would prefer the parachute jump as at least it ends without me bouncing up and down. For those interested in doing the bungee jump, there is a business that allows you to do it. Not cheap, David Z. from the Bond Experience did it and vlogged it on YouTube.

Okay moving on to another would you rather. Since this chap only did 2 Bond movies it seems like a good would you rather:

Would you rather watch Timothy Dalton in LTD or LTK?

TLD for me personally. Dalton’s performance in that film is amongst my favorite Bond performances of the entire series. Much as I love LTK, it’s a bit too dated in the 80s.

I'd rather watch both films back to back, thank you very much! (Says he not entering into the spirit of the game at all!!)

Party pooper! I still welcome your input, even though it contravenes the rules! LOL!

😂 I simply couldn't choose! Both are brilliant!

I love Robert Davi in LTK, and I think he elevates Dalton’s performance (which to me, felt uneven before Bond infiltrates Sanchez’s organization). The two really work well off each other, but…

TLD is a top six Bond film for me. There are flaws, but Dalton was consistent throughout, I really love the Cold War feel, the way he takes down Pushkin; I’ve got no problem with the Afghanistan setting and who the allies are (as Penguin taught us in another series, “Things change”); there are tremendous stunts and my favourite PTS is in this film…

    It’s TLD for me…

    TLD.

Though LTK still has the best action of any Bond film. SP might hold the record for largest actual explosion, but doesn't look as impressive as the explosions during the Tanker chase. How? And Sanchez is a better villain that what TLD has to offer on that front. But TLD is better overall.

The Living Daylights for me, but there are so many moments in LTK I love.

I wish we had more films in the series like the first hour of TLD

Can I choose the first half of TLD and the second half of LTK?

I much prefer TLD, though that doesn't mean LTK is bad in any way.

TLD is the better Bond film, but LTK is the better film. Hmmmmm….

I'm all with you, @Dwayne, that Maryam is a highlight of TLD, but I definitely also love Carey Lowell in LTK. Two of my favourite Bond girls.

Both rock so hard it's impossible to choose. If LTK had a Barry score then maybe not as hard...
  • I'm a huge fan of Dalton as Bond, so this is a hard choice to make. I love the way the TLD short story becomes a springboard to the larger, more complex movie storyline...but I also really appreciate the way several previously-unused Fleming sequences turn up in LTK. Yes, Robert Davi is a much stronger villain than the smorgasbord of less-compelling baddies we see in TLD... but John Rhys-Davies is just fabulous as General Pushkin! I guess, bottom line, the Cold War storyline of TLD wins out for me over the faux-Miami Vice ethos of TLD... but I'll happily watch either (or both!) of them any old time!

I have to admit when I first posted this I thought I would get lots of LTK love. I am heartened that many are sharing and showing love to TLD. I would take TLD over LTK if given a choice of watching one. I like the romance, the action is well delivered and the Afghanistan ending is superb! Yes Dalton hasn't quite found his voice as the character but he's still pretty brilliant! So put me in the TLD camp.

Both of Daltons', DN, GF and TND are my top 5.

It's down to personal taste of course, but Carey Lowell rocked my casbah.

    TLD, by a hair.

I'd rather watch LTK, but it's extremely close, and mainly just down to the fact that LTK is my favorite of all the Bond films, so I guess in that sense I'd rather watch it than any of the other entries.

A better answer would be that I'd just rather watch them back to back. They're both brilliant and among the absolute best the franchise has to offer.

TLD by a (horse's arse) hair, and they are both real good Bond films. Both also have excellent sniper scenes, something I miss seeing in the films.

Good for you mate! Am in total agreement, both are brilliant!
  • Though I much prefer TLD, which ticks many of my Bond highlights, I find the two pretty neck and neck in terms of rewatchability since LTK has a lot of great action highlights that make for a tantalizing revisit. I’ll stick with TLD though overall, even if it sags a bit in Afghanistan I find the pacing to lull even more in LTK’s casino scenes.

Both great films, but LTK wins every time. Had this included a Barry score too, it would be the greatest Bond film of all time.

I watched LTK too often when it was my only Bond film on VHS (ex rental copy at that) and always liked TLD more. But then I watch TLD a lot now, as it’s fairly family friendly in a way that LTK is not.

    So..
TLD I think. I even have the soundtrack CD.

Good stuff, seems like it's an even horse race! Both films got love which is great.

Here's a fun one, not sure if it even makes a difference in the drink quality but our favourite secret agent prefers his a certain way.

Would you rather your martini be shaken or stirred?
