Plus there is the argument that any televised spin-off dilutes the brand rather than bolsters it, which looking at the Marvel and Star Wars shows (Andor being the exception) I think EON have made the right call. Also I don't want Amazon to exert any more influence that they already have.
A Bond series without Bond is like a Elvis movie without Elvis.
Next question, please? 😊
When you put it like that 🥰 I'd love for her to team up with Nomi but then you have an actual situation where there'd be two 007s.
I just need one good female-led spy franchise, Atomic Blonde 2 would suffice
I'd rather go for a Moneypenny spin-off with Harris, as at least 'Penny is in a slightly different, less actiony role, and I think Harris is great. But of course spinning off from the Craig films wouldn't make any sense as that continuity is over.
I see that Amazon have just recently launched a John Wick spin-off. So you can bet they're asking for some more Bond side projects.
I’d rather IFP do character spin-offs before EON does. The two you mentioned are proof that there is a certain amount of the fans who want to see new things in Bond’s world. I still propose modern day era spin-offs with villains. I have modern day spinoff ideas for Goldfinger, Blofeld (with Irma Bunt) Scaramanga and Trevelyan. While we don’t like waiting for new Bond material, at least Bond isn’t as overexposed at this point as the MCU. That’s my shocking Bond confession of the day. At least we have breathing space with James Bond.
Interesting viewpoints. Amazon arguably got one Bond spinoff with Road To A Million. Yes, I wouldn’t be surprised if they have asked EON for something more traditional for Bond. So just narrowly, spin-offs for other characters, preferably from IFP before EON.
I like that the comics are more willing to play about in the sandbox, with the Goldfinger and Mr Big reimagining. Given we're seeing it a bit with 007: Cypher I would definitely be up for more of that.
I like the idea of a Moneypenny spin off, but yeah I wouldn't really want anyone apart from Harris in live action and the Craig era is best left alone now. The comics' Moneypenny is basically Eve in all but name but her solo comic left something to be desired. I'd love for them to take another crack at it though.
That is true. Mostly due to MGM being bankrupt in the film department, and Bond’s high budget costs. Amazon could definitely help in the budget department. And if they have Purvis and Wade write everything in some way, someone will be resigning, in real life and the movie. So it’s a mixed bag. I’d rather IFP and Dynamite Comics handle spin-offs for the time being. We got the 2nd 00 book coming in April next year, and everyone will see how that goes. Not too mention, Kim Sherwood has most of the 3rd 00 book written. I think IFP, Dynamite, EON, MGM and Amazon will take a look at how that trilogy does before truly doing more Bond spin-offs. I do honestly hope for some for the future.
Plus it wouldn't need to sit in any kind of specific film continuity i.e. not necessarily in CraigBond's world.
I suppose the only reason they wouldn’t is because it’s not a show widely known about beyond being an oddity (in my experience).
And hey, if EON wanted to discourage Amazon from any Bond side projects they could suggest an updated version of James Bond jr.
Similar to Disney buying Lucasfilm, Amazon is going to want to get their money back as soon as possible. Aka Disney wants Star Wars as soon as possible, even it means repeating story beats. They already lost a million dollars on Road to a Million ;) they’ll want a movie, due to the for-sure money maker.
I would dig a young Bond version or show. If you are going to keep the movies in the PG-13 realm, then having a more kid friendly version of the show and character would allow for younger fans to join the fandom. I always admired Cubby for making Bond more suitable to the whole family with the adventures.
So no “young Bond” for me. Never.
But…
I’d also hate it if they expanded the Bond universe for Amazon. Always was agaisnt spin offs and I have no interest in other Bond lore characters besides James Bond himself.
So, I’d say no to both 😉 There’s no lesser evil to choose. Both would be disasters, IMO.
I will not.
The only way young Bond might work is with a CGI Connery (as much as I'm against CGI, I can't see it working with any other actor).
But I'd probably still hate it.
Lets move on to another choice!
Lets talk non-Bond or at least the other roles that Bond actors have done. Some did films during their time as Bond, others went on, or are currently having careers after their time of double-o-7 had come to an end.
For the purposes of this would you rather lets see about those roles! We shall pit Sir Sean against Daniel. This might not be a fair comparison to make, but here it goes:
Sean had some trouble in the immediate after years of taking on other roles. The performances were uneven. In fact because of his career stagnating, I think that is the only reason he returned to play Bond one last time in 1983. After NSNA he went on to win an Oscar and star in some action films that kept his career active.
Daniel was known as a actor's actor before Bond. When he was cast many hadn't seen a Daniel Craig film. Since Daniel has become the face of another franchise "Knives Out". Daniel has also tried his hand a variety of roles and had some success, but nothing nearly as big as Bond.
Would you rather watch a Sean Connery film OR a Daniel Craig film
Remember I am not talking about Bond film, I am talking another film that features the actor. Tell us what film and why, or keep it general and tell us why you prefer that actor.
Of Daniel, only really 'Layer Cake' and 'Munich' stand out for me!
So it has to be Connery!
So for that matter, I'd go with Connery, his filmography is more diverse and remarkable, it could vary from different genre, he doesn't need to show his body in every of his films, they're more fun and memorable, while there are some romantic scenes in his films, it doesn't need to go erotic like some of Craig's films.
Thus my love of Daniel Craig continues unabated 😅
Connery all day long!
