Would you rather sip lattes with Mathis OR hunt game with Kincaid in Scotland?

NTTD is no different than Octopussy, DAF or GE. It's Eon doing their thing. This time it was Skyfall 2.0.

Could you explain that to us in English for those of us who don't speak spy?

They killed Bond like they Killed M. They wanted another Skyfall. That's how It works.

If this is your elaborate way of telling me that EON has a habit of re-using storylines, than that's correct only in the snese that they like to use the original material, and, since a few years, elements of the continuation novel(s) (in this case, SP used the torture scene from Col. Sun).
But by no menas does it imply they just want to repeat things. That is something completely different.

No, they do what they want to do. That's why Octopussy is a kids movie. They thought it was a good idea at the time.

Well, obviously they do what they want to do, as does any other company. They do what they think is good for business and (because they want to) what keeps Ian Fleming's heritage alive.

Yeah, it's all about money. That's why they killed Bond. It's a business decision.

Yeah, it's all about money. That's why they killed Bond. It's a business decision.

    It’s called the film business/industry.

One needs to make money so they can do another (and they also provide countless jobs so people can put food on the table, a roof over their heads, clothes on the kids, but let’s talk about a film that upset you).

NSNA was business too and I like it more. ;)

Interesting discussion on both sides. I will take all the Connery I can get so I am saying good-bye to Craig in NTTD. Plus it was a delight for us to get 2 Bond films in the same calendar year. Likely not to happen again till Bond becomes public domain.

Okay this next one was suggested by @SIS_HQ

Through-out the series there have been movies where a love story was at the heart of the film. OHMSS with Tracy and Bond getting married, CR where Bond and Vesper have a deeper relationship than previous films. But even films like TLD have a large amount of romance between Bond and the leading lady.

    So we are asking:

Would you rather the new Bond film have a romance at it's heart OR you would prefer a less romantic Bond/Leading Lady dynamic?

Less romance, more casual sex. But chances are we’ll either get a one-woman Bond or nothing at all. I guess put me down for the latter answer. Getting both Vesper and Madeleine for 3/5 movies in the last era was a lot of romance.

Less romantic, unless they finally use Gala Brand and make her Bond #7's Tracy/Vesper.

A less romantic Bond/Leading Lady dynamic. It's not as special or effective if cinema's most confirmed ladies' man finds "the one true love of his life" in every film or every other film.

I know on paper the 2 main loves of Bond's life are OHMSS' Tracy and CR's Vesper but for me I've always found the Bond/Kara dynamic in TLD and the Bond/Octopussy dynamic in OP the two most believable. In OP's case though it was probably more due to the Moore/Adams chemistry than anything in OP's actual story and script.

Depends on the Bond girl I’d say. There has to be a level of chemistry or romance there in order to make any Bond/girl onscreen pairing work.

But that said I think the next film can do without a ‘love of Bond’s life’ turning up. Sometimes a great Bond girl can just be someone who happens to cross Bond’s path.

I think something similar to what Tom Cruise and Rebecca Ferguson had in the MI films would work well, culminating in an actual romantic encounter. So romance yes, but not a Vesper level love.

    Agreed.

Romance and seduction and physical attraction, but falling in love can be placed to the side for quite some time (considering the last itineration sacrificed himself for his two loves).

Sex, loads of. But no romance.

Damn, forgot we were in the 2020s, so we’ll probably get no sex and no romance. Just some sort of hygienised, sterile, safe and respectful handshake or elbow touch. No flirting, for that would be harassment. No cleavages or sexy clothes, for that would be objectifying and sexualising women. So…what was the question again?

Oh yeah, no physicall scars on villains, no innuendos, no sex, no Fleming, no Bond. And let’s shake things up and change all of the rest as well. Bond’s race, gender, characteristics, traits,… It’s the 2020s, everyone cares and no one cares :)

In fact, they should make a film about Bond being irrelevant nowadays. They’ve been brewing that idea since 1995. Oh wait…

The paradigm has changed: The world changes, Bond should change as well.

    Thank god for irony ;)

Bond's loved and lost too many times. Just give us a film where Bond has some fun. No previous marriages, relationships, guns under pillows...
The cool thing about Gala Brand from the book is actually that Bond is hopefl, but she's engaged. Would work as well.

I'd like to Sixtine from Forever and a Day to be adapted with her story. I like the idea of a female mentor for a younger Bond. EON should take a break from a true romance Bond for a while.

I fall in line with those that picked Bond not getting a romance of his life. I think it's time to rest that aspect of the character for a bit. Lets have a return to the emotionally detached Bond who "loves them and leaves them".

Okay on to another scenario this one about unique places of the world that Bond has visited. I'm curious to see where one may wish to visit in real life.

Would you rather vacation in Piz Gloria OR the Disco Volante featured in NSNA?

Mountain top or luxury yacht. Piz Gloria offers solitude, beautiful sunsets and curling. The yacht in NSNA offers a luxury way to travel, with a dance studio, a mini command centre, luxurious bath robes and a chance to visit amazing ports around the world.

So which one would you rather vacation on? Nothing to do with the film, just looking for what would you prefer to spend a week or two vacationing on!

    Thanks @thedove
    It's been a wonderful round!

Anyway, on to the next topic.

This is an effortless answer, and it's Piz Gloria (not even close!)

A ski resort a top of the Swiss Alps, more relaxing, then there's a restaurant diner, I could live my life exclusively without any of the noise below the mountain, plus, you can't go wrong with Switzerland! I could even live there forever if I liked.

So, I'd go with the Piz Gloria!

The boat in NSNA, well, I couldn't live there forever and uncomfortably because of the fear of sharks and the boat sinking, so no way I could have my vacation in there.

Piz Gloria for me, no question. I prefer the cold/snow and it's an absolutely mesmerizing location as it is.

Yes, Piz Gloria for me as well.

Besides, if I had a boat I'd call it the SS Nausia ;)

A mega yacht in the bahamas and South of France is a no-brainer, surely? I like skiing, but if you ski out of Piz Gloria you've got to go all the way down to catch the gondola back up again! :) Flying Saucer all the way, please!

..............the same reason I'd go with Piz Gloria. The Angels of Death.
On the Flying Saucer we only have Domino, Largo and crew and Domino's instructor.
In addition we'd have Domino's dance music probably played on loop.
