This video popped up on my youtube feed and I don't think it's been posted here yet. It's excerpts from old laserdisc commentaries by Terrence Young, Peter Hunt, Guy Hamilton, and Richard Maibaum for the first three Bond movies. Apparently these commentaries can't be found anywhere because of litigation from the Broccolis.

The comments aren't quite as shocking as the title suggests- well, except for the one about Lotte Lenya- but they're still pretty amusing. It's no wonder that Bond was a much harsher character in DN, FRWL, and TB- Young seems like a real hardcase.

Certainly was for Richard Maibaum in particular!

I've seen this before. Love hearing Peter Hunt whinging about the direction of GF (makes perfect sense as apparently he wasn't a fan of Hamilton's work on that film and wasn't that fond of GF from what I understand). Some interesting stuff in there though.

Haha, yes, I get what you mean (lots of stuff about how bodies fumbling around is more 'modern', or how he'd gone through the girl fight frame by frame and not seen any hair etc). Then the stuff about Connery being very sexy. To be fair the stuff about the women comes off as slightly more clinical/from an editor's eye from the time.

Presumably he tried to have Diana Rigg naked in every shot in OHMSS :))

    It's very 'modern'.

Was Hunt gay incidentally? I vaguely remember Lazenby saying he was in an interview, but I don't know one way or the other. Again, all the stuff about the women seems quite clinical. Not that it makes what he says come off as less pervy either, haha.

I didn't listen to them again but I recall commentary revealed too much about the James Bond Theme, more than Monty Norman or his lawyers approved of.
