Got to go with Dr. No. For the life of me, I've never been able to figure out the plot of Goldeneye. Maybe I haven't watched it enough. But being older, I guess I just prefer the Connery classics.

    Dr. No.

I've said it once and I'll say it again... GoldenEye, though good, is overrated.

Both are in my top 10, and while GoldenEye is good, DR. NO is great.

    Dr. No

As much as GoldenEye rebooted the franchise, Dr. No started it. Also, I find DN more quintessentially Bond. GoldenEye doesn't make me feel like I'm watching a Bond movie. It's excellently directed, but it's just not Bond.

GE. Dr. No is fantastic and got the series off to a great start. Its position as a classic is undeniable, but I honestly find myself putting GE into my DVD player more often.

While Goldeneye has been entertaining me more each time I rewatch it, it remains on the fringe of the top ten, whereas Dr.No sits nicely in 9th. So therefore my vote goes with Dr.No

Pretty much my thought process as well. My first reaction was to pick Dr. No - the first, the classic. There's nothing not to love about that one. But I have to admit that Goldeneye has found its way into my player more often. Maybe it's just my habit of leaning toward the newer, more modern stuff. Maybe it's my weakness for Natalya.

So I'm going to surprise myself and vote for Goldeneye.

Both excellent movies, a tough call. But I think Sean Connery's superior performance and a slightly better villain will cast my vote towards Dr. No.

Let be the one to cast infinite votes for the single greatest Bond movie ever to grace the screen. Yes folks, you know the name, you know the number. 17th Bond movie, Pierce Brosnan in his slam-bang debut, that's right, give it up for GOLDENEYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This might suprise you but if Goldeneye loses I really don't mind. It's up against an excellent film from a classic era that commands a lot of respect.

I'd prefer it if it lost to FRWL, GF, TB, YOLT. I'm not much for DN, I respect it, but don't really enjoy it.

I like DN very much but I think FRWL, GF and even TB are better.

The current count is 17-12 in favor of Dr. No. Keep those votes a-comin' people!

Well all right, nevermind then, since no votes came back from four days ago, it looks like we'll have to go ahead and close this one. Dr. No wins, and very surprisingly too, I might add. Only a five vote margin but still, wow, that shocked me.

CR I love YOLT (especially saying "yolt" as a word), but Casino Royale has it for me.

A nice surprise to see the little engine that could use it's star power to pummel GE.

As for this, do I even need to say?! CR.

Blofeld's cat is probably throwing another fit as we speak.

I too will follow suit and vote for Casino Royale. Not much explanation is needed on this one, it's quite obvious for what reasons it trumps YOLT. Still though, here they are:

    -Better soundtrack
    -Better 007 performance
-Better action (though it is close)
-Better villains (Osato and Brandt are cheesy losers, and Le Chiffre beats Pleasance Blofeld)
-Better locations (I prefer the varied lot of the Florida, Madagascar, Montenengro, and Venice over the whole time spent in Japan)

@thelivingroyale: Hahahaha. Nice one. Still though, you actually like the villains in YOLT? They don't help the movie in any way, I think. I understand that the villains from the Craig era have not yet been memorable, except for Le Chiffre of course, but I still will take Le Chiffre, Dimitrios, Mollaka, Obanno, and Gettler over Osato, Brandt, Hans, and Pleasance Blofeld.

I'm with @00Beast on this one. I think if YOLT didn't have the volcano lair many would just discount it for the most part. I just don't see the fuss.

I like Le Chiffre, and Obano was good but sort of forgettable. Pleasence is my favourite Blofeld, so I prefer YOLT's villians.

It's definitely the volcano lair that does it. If it didn't have that grand finale, it might not even be worth putting in the DVD player.
