17-7 DN's favor. DN is winning by 10 votes, wow.

Dr. No for sure. I liked it. Why? Well I don't know; I liked the book a lot. The film was so different than anything else for its time. It was a great introduction to Bond and the first classic "the name is bond, james bond" at the casino table. Oh and it had Ursula coming out of the sea.

Despite my love for MR, I find this one fairly easy: DN. It's the classic Bond, the quintessential Bond.

    19-8 DN, still.

Sure, but it's just so damn slow !! Connery is amazing yes, but there's nothing happening !

So is MR! Except for a little bit of Jaws here and there, the movie doesn't pick up at all until they go into space, and half the time I forget there's a section in Brazil between Drax's place and space.

Well IMO MR is full of epic fun and escapism. Sure the plot doesn't go forward much, but still there's plenty of humour, classic one-liners in the film. And how can you not like spending 2 hours with Sir Rog who is clearly enjoying himself ?

Actually, I like the events in this film. Like the Fleming novels, there's a lot to be absorbed. Sure, it's not part of the post-GF OTT era of the Bonds, but I'm okay with its sober yet elegant stylishness. Also, I deeply respect the fact they pulled this gig off with so limited a budget and no established template.

Definately Dr. No. MR was too campy for my tastes what with Bond going into space. I also hated Jaws with a passion.

DN easily, as it's in my top 5 Bond. MR, meanwhile, is in my bottom 5 Bond films.

    Dr. No

MR is a fun film but I have to go with DN, it's just more Bond.

There's no shame in losing to one of the golden 1960s Bond films though. That decade is in a class by itself.

Agreed. I don't think this score is proof of MR being a bad film, but merely of DN being a very good film in the minds of many members.

I was actually watching a bit of MR today and there are things that are really good amongst all the sillyness.

HOWEVER Dr No wins this round. Its just a more classy thriller in general.

This is turning out how FRWL v.s. DAD would end. I bloody love it.

We all know how that would end. DAD would kick FRWL's arse :))

Indeed. It'd be an embarassment for MR if it was losing against TWINE or AVTAK like this but not to DN.

You think DAD would get as many as 9 votes against FRWL? @-) I guess we will know for sure when that matchup occurs.

Nurse that affection for MR, AJB007! It's wonderful and out of this world!
