Yes indeed Brady, yes indeed! As far as I know, the only movies it has gone up against thus far is Thunderball and On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I can't recall any others; perhaps we need to put some more experience miles on ol' FRWL!
But Dr. No has something special, so Dr. No it is.
8. Casino Royale
7. For Your Eyes Only
6. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
5. Dr. No
It only wins by the smallest of margins. Connery and Wiseman defined their respective roles, setting the bar very, very high for those following.
I really do love both of these films, but as there can be only one winner...

Daniel Craig's debut has trumped Sean Connery's debut by eight votes!
Next round begins now:
Thunderball vs. Octopussy
Do I really need to say? TB! Rog can't compete with almighty Sean, looking about as cool as a man could in very casual tropic wear, and TB has brilliant fight scenes underwater, which I find exciting and not boring like some do for some reason. The plot makes you feel how risky it is, and that is great when you watch the film and think "holy crap, this is serious". The set where all the 00 meet is one of my favorite sets of the franchise, if not my top favorite, and that moment is more epic that anything OP has to offer. TB also has the best one-linees of the entire Connery era, in my opinion. Everything from "she's just dead" to "his wife probably lost her dog", the quips are class acts, and always give me a huge chuckle. Also in TB, we have Bond shot and limping vulnerably, and actually see fear in his eyes, played brilliantly by Sean. Domino is very beautiful, as is Martine Beswick, back to play an equally pretty sacrificial lamb. I just love TB, it's so much fun, and from the start of the brilliant PTS to the conclusion with Bond and Domino being pulled through the sky, it is an amazing film made all the better by the best Bond. No question this week.
Better 007? Check. More thrilling action? Check. Better villains? Check. Better pace? Check! Enough to make OP take the win for me? Check.
Anyhow, my answer is the same as before:
A classic Bond, with a classic Bond, designing the classic Bond. ;-)
As for this, it took me about six seconds to decide that Thunderball was the overall winner, but Octopussy is tough to beat on action, Connery's fourth outing seems half the time spent on dull, boring, underwater battles, but for the rest of the time, is a damn good adventure with lots of interesting characters and action bits and Connery does very well, a definite minimum on the nonsense humor of Moore in '83, that's one reason why I would choose it ahead of Octopussy, i.e. a straight faced, entertaining, (for the most part), Bond release with a plausible James Bond, one of the best ever etc
OP has an OTT but very entertaining first act and just keeps on getting better to deliver one the very finest climaxes in the entire series. TB's ending is laughably weak. IMO YOLT was a much welcome return to form after such a dull entry.
Wow, thanks for catching this PKK! Looks like my memory is fading on these! Hahaha. Well, I guess we can say safely that Thunderball was our winner in one of the shortest rounds yet!
Okay, new match-up! Sorry for the confusion, and thanks to PKK for catching my mistake again.
Let's try
