Hard to treat as well. Very unpleasant.

Not so. I've had it since 1987 and I quite enjoy it!

I'm speaking as a long-term sufferer. I found it meant I was unable to maintain normal relations with Bond for long periods after 1989. Only in 2006 did I discover a cure, which is only partially effective.

Oh, well, now that you put it that way, I completely understand everything but the last 5 words, the new cure seems to be working just fine for me ;) :D

yes, but there seems to be a real shortage of the cure - sometimes I'm unable to get my hands on it for years on end.

I do like TD, not as 007, but he plays a great baddie. He was brilliant in The Rocketeer, Dr Who, Hot FUZZ to name a few. He did that so much better as playing 007.

The problem I find is Sean's portrayal of Bond is exceptional, smooth and self assured,(we'd all like to be like him) but Tim's potrayal is the closest to Fleming's character, flawed with self doubt, much like Daniel's today. And to add to the confusion OHMSS is still one of my favourite Bond films of all time. Bottom line I just love BOND.

From Russia With Love for me. Though LTK is only two places behind.

Okay, it's abundantly clear which of the two is the winner! From Russia with Love has basically slaughtered License to Kill in a stunning victory. As always, next round starts now!

FRWL had a licence to kill and used it on LTK. Ironic. :D

ooo, love both but GE wins this time round.
  • TSWLM is a guilty pleasure of mine, and has a opening stunt GE could only dream of. Better music too. I'll always be up for another rewatch. Another tough call, but I'll go with GoldenEye because it's a little less campy and a little more original in as far as it took some elements of the Moonraker novel as opposed to some already used elements of YOLT.

GoldenEye of course, no questions need be asked. It's just too cool, simply too cool. TSWLM is a great Bond movie with very memorable scenes, great action, locations, soundtrack, and Roger Moore, but it just doesn't hold that feeling of true 007 satisfaction like GoldenEye does.

The Spy Who Loved Me hands down! I don't get the big fuss about GE that a lot of people seem to make, particulary on this forum. Though I do enjoy it and recognize its merits, I also consider it to be significantly overrated. TSWLM, though not perfect, does almost everything right. Of the non-serious Bonds, it is arguably at the very top.

    TSWLM

Though not the best Moore, but it's clearly a Moore film. GE is a Dalton film, that's missing it's most vital componant- Dalton. GE looks like a 3rd rate tv movie, it's so rough looking, and grey. TSWLM is more colourful, and a bit more entertaining.

This is tough for me; these are two of my favorites! I will go with TSWLM but man it is close. GE is great.

    TSWLM

I don't have many thoughts on this one. I just prefer Spy a little bit better, maybe it's the 70's, maybe it's Rog, maybe it's NDIB, maybe the locations, maybe Lewis Gilbert, maybe Ken Adam.

This round is much harder than the one before.
Anyway, I have to choose TSWLM because: Roger Moore, Jaws, Barbara Bach - who wasn't as bad as some say-, the better gadgets - I didn't like the gadgets, specially the pen, in GE-, Ken Adam, and so on. However both of them in my top 10
    9. Goldeneye
    8. Casino Royale
    7. For Your Eyes Only
    6. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    5. Dr. No
    4. Octopussy
    3. From Russia With Love
    2. The Spy Who Loved Me

GoldenEye, for a great debut performance from Brosnan, my favourite Bond girl, and also one of the best villains of the entire series.

The Spy Who Loved Me is Rog's best entry though.

GoldenEye for me! Though Spy is pretty good also.
  • TSWLM Moore at his best, great stunts, big sets, good music, just all round a great film.

I do like GE a lot but as other people have said it just looks so dull and i don't really like the musc all that much so TSWLM wins for me.

Does it really look anymore "TV-movie-ish" than it's predecessor? I don't think so.

Anyway, don't want to get off topic.

Can I suggest some future rounds?

GE vs. TND (there seems to be quite a bit of appreciation for TND on these boards)
TLD vs. CR (not sure if that's been done already)
    DAF vs. QoS

    The Spy Who Loved Me

(Had the chance to watch GE today to better compare these two. But I ultimately chose The Bourne Identity because I hadn't seen it in a while, and for some odd reason or another, I just didn't care to watch GE. I just imagined GE in my head. Like fast forwarding it entirely. )

As a novelisation from the movie I would go for Woods' book.

As a movie I would go for GOLDENEYE.

This is harder than I first anticipated. After some careful consideration, I went with GOLDENEYE, things that worked in it's favor included a fine pre credits sequence, Turner does a decent tune, Brosnan does very well, Trevelyan was a believable and worthwhile adversary, it has some fine action sequences too

Spy does have Barbara Bach going for it, but I really can't stand the Simon title track, Kurt Jurgens makes for a very dull villain, and it loses pace here and there, although Moore does a good job for the most part, the ski jump at the beginning is seriously overrated too

Goldeneye hands down for me because Natalya's "Boys with toys" line was better than Barbara Bach's entire acting job in TSWLM.
