@SaintMark, that, and people want to attack anyone they can. Like the whole debacle going on with the picture of the girl who is standing next to the lion that she killed? Someone probably saw that, figured it was some near-endangered rhino of some sort, and instantly attacked. No research, no reading, they simply attacked. The idiocy is astounding.

@Creasy47 with the rise of the internet we got the great equalizer, namely even crazy people get to have their say even if it makes so little sense for people who are capable of thinking.

That said internet does kill humor as well, as for every little joke there are at least a 100 people feeling offended and ready to make it a cause. Hence we get choked to dead in political correctness because the crazies now have the tools to annoy normal people that have a decent sense of life.

@SaintMark, the Internet is the soapbox for the common idiot these days. Everyone gets their own say with it, yet it never matters. And you're right, everything offends at least one person lately. Kills humor.

    IMO, the commenter in question who said 'inhumane prick'...'animal killer' etc. wasn't serious one bit. The same article admits others were just joking, so how is this comment any different? They just went too far with the satire, slandering Spielberg to make it as believable as possible. To me, it's just a case of the seemingly gullible being fooled by the TRUE gullible. 8-}

I thought that was definitely sarcastic, but if you scan through enough, you'll definitely find idiots who don't know a thing about directors or dinosaurs.

Oh, okay. Strange then, how every article singled out that particular comment. Perhaps I'll just dismiss it all as sarcasm, for to comprehend that so many people with access to the internet can be THAT uneducated is a truly depressing thought!

I have not read the article, but I can honestly say that photo of her with the lion sickened me. I just feel that way about hunting, endangered or not. Not to start a debate; there is no debate on that for me and others on the other side of the coin feel as strongly. Just different opinions. But I understand why people can feel very negatively when they view that photo.

@4EverBonded, I've never hunted, nor do I have any interest in it. I can't picture the excitement of getting up super early, sitting in the midst of the woods in silence, and hunting innocent deer. Doesn't sound attractive or enticing to me. It doesn't sound like 'hunting,' either. If people want to hunt, I say it should require your fists and nothing else. I'd like to see these big, macho, burly rednecks that live throughout Virginia/West Virginia chase down a bear and murder it with their bare hands. (Bear...bare...I see what I did there.) THAT would be impressive. Blending in with trees and shooting Bambi? Not so much.

We would have gotten on famously. I was the Trek nerd who learned how to fight like William Shatner.
The hunt was no thrill. Thwarting the hunters proved...
    enough. *smiles*
    Peace through superior Kirk-Fu.

Never understood the need to kill something for supposed 'sport'.

Guess it makes some feel powerful though...

Indeed we would have. Perhaps the need to kill sport that can't possibly fight back is just overcompensating for something else.

It appears that Marvel is doing a massive alternation to Thor in the comics, as Thor will now be a woman:

Whew, at first I thought they were going to completely gender-swap Thor out of nowhere. Still, this seems like a dumb idea to appeal to some feminist sensibilities, especially by how some women seem to be reacting to it.

"Look at her, she's Thor! She's just as tough as he is, even though she's a woman, and she can do just as much as he can, and other stuff... Please like her!"

It's hilarious that they had Whoopi Goldberg release the news, as she has never struck me as a comic fan/reader. Anyway, this is all a part of why I don't read today's comics. Feel free to go into uncharted territory in your industry by making a big lead character a woman or have a character come out as gay, but don't treat it like some massive media blitzkrieg where it's marketed as some big event. If a character comes out, just treat it naturally and respectfully, and don't have everyone around them saying "wow, you are daring to do that," or "congratulations on your big decision," as it just comes off as insulting. That's part of the problem with today's media. A famous individual comes out as gay, and it's treated as the biggest story of the year when in all actuality, they're just being their damn self like usual, and they don't want unnecessary attention drawn to it when it's just them being them. Does any of this make sense?

    Anyone for a milky bar?

    http://metro.co.uk/2014/07/16/have-you-ever-noticed-that-giant-penis-on-the-milky-bar-4799993/

Seriously though, is this just another case of companies hiding subliminal sexual imagery in advertising (see Disney) to condition children? Not a very nice topic I know, but definitely something to be worried about.

Yes, it's obvious what it truly is. Just a guy too drunk to make correct sense of the situation the night of the cup game I'd say. That or they just wanted fifteen minutes of fame.

A court in the US has ordered a tobacco company, RJ Reynolds, to pay the widow of a lung cancer victim, $23.6bn in compensation.

That is absolutely insane. I'd be absolutely amazed if it isn't overturned on appeal.

Wow, that is insane, and a pretty weak defense. I mean, they list right on their packaging the health risks, so the woman's husband chose to use the product despite those warnings. If every tobacco user who ever suffered from a form of cancer brought on by that product got compensation the court system would be ordering payments in astronomical numbers and the number of cases they would have to hear would clog up the criminal justice process to a devastating degree. They'd have to create a court just for hearing those kinds of tobacco related cases there'd be so many.

    I got...

    Name: Flank Leatherman

The name sounds more porn than 80's action hero, catchphrase isn't too bad though.
