Been waiting too long for this moment! Gonna be an entertaining night.

EDIT: Tampa Bay with a comeback to take Game One over Detroit, and my boys crush the Rangers and tally up five goals. Excellent! Looking forward to seeing how the rest of this Blues/Blackhawks game goes, over halfway through now and it's still 0-0.

Blackhawks fall 0-1. So many close calls, but couldn't get anything done.

Yeah I just couldn't muster up enough energy to stay up for that whole game

@Last_Rat_Standing, nor I, I got to the point of being too tired. That Blues/Hawks game was pretty impressive, and I wouldn't count the Hawks out just yet, as A.) They're insane and typically manage to pull off great games, this seemed to be a fluke, and B.) It was an own goal that got them a loss in overtime.

Speaking of other monumental sports moments last night, even though I don't follow basketball, Kobe Bryant played his last game, netting 60 points and the game winner, and the Golden State Warriors won their final game last night, putting them at 73-9 for the entire season, beating the 1995-1996 Bulls season record of 72-10.

Well the last two years St. Louis has choked, so for me its not so much as counting out their opponents but relying on St. Louis to somehow collapse.

As far as basketball goes, I could care less. Never got into it that much. I'll watch the NCAA tournament and maybe some of the NBA finals, just depends on who's in it. I cant sit through a season or game just knowing that Golden State will just run away with everything. Its predictable garbage IMO

I don't follow basketball at all, but I thought both of those accomplishments plus the start of the Playoffs made it a pretty exciting and remarkable night for sports.

Blackhawks are really disappointing. Thought for sure they'd be able to win this first series.

The Blackhawks are highly, highly talented, but since I'm not a fan of theirs, I can't say I'm terribly upset, I'm looking forward to seeing the playoff brackets shaken up this year, tired of the same few times making it to the end year after year. That's why I'm hoping the Sharks win, as well.

Also, what're your thoughts on Game 3 between the Caps/Flyers? That's some of the most classless behavior I've ever seen in my life.

I missed that game, but saw the bracelet throwing. I can't say anything about that because we throw rats on the ice which results in a penalty. as well as last nights Hawks-Blues game. I don't have anything against Chicago, but like you said, I'd like to see the brackets shaken up as well. I actually picked Chicago in 6, but losing to Dallas in the next round. Florida needs to step it up tonight, can't go down 3-1.

But to throw free wristbands that were given out to honor the late Ed Snider, who had just passed away from cancer, because your team is losing? That's just sad, no class.

Never posted my bracket, but this is how I had it laid out (don't have all the details, couldn't save it so I had to take a picture of it on my phone, but not all of the information is within frame): for the first round, I have Dallas in five, St. Louis in seven, Anaheim in five, L.A. in seven, Washington in five, Pittsburgh in four (overly cocky and optimistic of me), Florida in four (again), and Tampa Bay in six.

Wow, I didn't know that what was on them. I just assumed that they were playoff bands or something

@Last_Rat_Standing, if it was just that, yeah, it's a bit rude but it's understandable. However, the meaning behind it and the fact that it was their first home playoff game to honor the late owner made it totally classless and rude. I'd be disgusted.

That it is, some of the most hypocritical fans I've seen. Of course, that's not the entire fan base and the actions don't speak for all of them, as I've managed to talk to a few fans who are pretty kind and cool.

Well every fan base has their bad apples, but as a whole, they're probably the worst.

Hawks live to fight another day - surprised me. Anything's possible I guess.

@FoxRox, I woke up late in the night and figured my phone was messed up because it said they were still in OT, didn't realize it had carried to 2OT and even still, they played a few minutes before Kane's goal, which was a beauty. Think they'll helm a comeback?

You don't know how happy I was to watch that Penguins game last night: take a 3-1 lead after, ended up winning BOTH games at Madison Square Garden, and in both, the Pens played a rookie goal, who in six periods total at MSG, let up just one goal, ending last night with a shutout, a playoff first for a rookie goal. Malkin's big scoring return with 2G/2A was also wonderful.

It appears I've heavily underestimated the Islanders, as I wasn't expecting them to beat the Panthers at all, let alone in six games. Just two games left until we have our first definite look at round two: Game 7 for Chicago/St. Louis today (really hope the latter wins) and we may have a winner with the Anaheim/Nashville game.

A little let down, but not upset. Can't win only scoring 1 goal per game. It was a good run and a great season. Three of the six went to OT and two in double OT. We basically played mirror images of each other. But its a great step in the right direction for a franchise that has been horrible for most of its existence.

When you're in double overtime in playoffs and the score is 1-1, then you know both teams are playing an even and damn good game. It was a solid matchup, for sure.

I'll pick Tampa in 5. Their offensive firepower will get to the Isles. They'll do what we couldn't.

@Last_Rat_Standing, so it'll be Caps vs. Pens, Isles vs. Lightning, Stars vs. Blues/Blackhawks (we'll know at the end of the day), and the Sharks vs. (probably) Ducks. Should be a good round two. If my boys can manage to defeat the #1 team in the league (who are also infamous for choking in the playoffs, much like the Penguins), I'll be incredibly happy.

As much as I want the Blues, I think Chicago takes it tonight. I'll give some predictions. This is based on who I WANT to win, not who I think.

    Stars in 7
    Ducks in 6

    Washington in 7
    Tampa in 5

With that being said, I wont be surprised in Pittsburgh wins in 6.

I want Chicago out simply because I tire of seeing them dominate year after year, and I want another team getting a crack at it. However, what I want and what will happen are probably two different things so I'm sure they'll come out playing 110% again tonight and will take game seven.

I see something similar to what happened with then played Anaheim last year in G7 of the WCF. It'll be over by the first.

I try and look at the playoffs as a completely fresh slate for all teams, and I try not to take their season progress and abilities into account, as the entire season is irrelevant once the playoffs arrive: NOW is what matters. Just like the Capitals, they dominated almost the entire season, but if they manage to choke again this year after having such talent, then everything that came before is irrelevant. Game 4 or Game 7, I just want the Pens to win!

I think a Penguins-Lightning series will be epic. Especially if Stamkos is back by then.

Generally I'd be with you guys on wanting to see the Blackhawks out due to them winning so often, but they're the one really successful sports team I follow :)) let's beat those Blues!
