I challenge you all to help me...

Hello! I am challenging you all to help me... I am not a big bond fan, however my other half is Bond nuts and it's his 30th birthday in May so I am on the hunt to find ideas to make it a truely memorable Bond birthday for him..

So I'm thinking I could hire an Aston Martin DB9 for him to drive around in but would love any suggestions on stuff to do in and around London, if anyone can help??

Do you know which restaurants and bars are used in any Bond films? Can anyone get me onto the roof of MI5?? hehe

Any ideas welcome :)

Get him a Bond blanket. When in doubt, buy a blanket with someone's favorite franchise on it (now if only somebody would get me a Dawn of the Dead 1978 blanket...).

you could start off his day, with Bond's favorite breakfast (in the novels that is)

    - 2 large cups of "very strong coffee from De Bry in New Oxford Street"
    - 1 hardboiled egg, served in an egg cup (boiled for 3 1/3 minutes)
    - wholewheat toast w/ strawberry jam or Cooper's Vintage Oxford marmalade

I do like the Aston Martin idea... if you can't swing a Aston, then go for a Bentley ;)

I am not from London, so I am not wise to any specific locations you could go, other than the most obvious that were used in films...

but if your other half is a golfer - try to get a round in at Stoke Poges Golf Club.. as it was used as the golf course for "Goldfinger" - and one of the rooms doubled for the room Bond stayed in while in Hamburg in Tomorrow Never Dies....... i say try with this Golf Club - because as it's a club, I'm sure it's very restricted - which also means expensive... and I am not sure if it's open to the public - but it's an idea lol...

another idea.. is see if any local movie theaters over there are able to do birthday parties..... here where I live (Cleveland, Ohio).. some theaters will rent out a theater before they open, for private birthday parties, and they'll put any movie you want, as long as it's on DVD of course... so, provided that a theater can do that for you out there - how cool would it be, to a have a Aston rented for you for the day, drive up to your own private birthday party at a theater, and view your favorite Bond film with friends - then you can plan the rest of the day accordingly..... as a Bond fan myself, I know I would love that... sure I could watch the Bond movies at home - but they are so much better on the big screen, especially if they are ones he's never gotten to see on the big screen.

What about a trip to Pinewood studios?

It's not in London, but you could go to see the "Bond in Motion" exhebition at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu.
If you could combine that trip with a rented Aston, it would be perfect!

    Btw: it's MI6! ;-)

http://www.amazon.com/Making-Her-Majestys-Secret-Service/dp/0984412603/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327766439&sr=8-1 one of my favorite Bond-related books. You should get it for him. If not that, get him an original Bond film poster on Ebay or something. Or just take him to Piz Gloria in Switzerland.
