why do I dislike the nods in DAD as compared to OHMSS...
first off, there aren't as many..... while some might be as "in your face" blatant as DAD's, there is simply less of them - due to the simple fact that a reference point from all previous 19 films is in DAD at some point or another - whether it's subtle or in your face...
secondly, DAD felt like a film that was trying way too hard to be everything - OHMSS while it had it's nods, still felt like it was trying to be it's own Bond movie... DAD was the result of 40 years stuffed into a blender and turned on to high speed.
OHMSS, is better directed, better edited, better scored, better acted - and is all around the better film between the two.... does the middle drag a bit?.. yes, it does (for me anyway), and could've probably been trimmed up - but i would take that over the majority of DAD any day of the week.
Didn't Tamahori buy into that whole 'Bond is just a codename' crap?
Preach it brother! OHMSS is my least favorite Bond movie. Now, while I still prefer it as a Bond movie to any other movie out there, it sits at the bottom of my Bond list. And yes, if my choice, I'd pick Die Another Day as well. Pierce Brosnan is just too epic for words, and the action in DAD is really thrilling, not to mention a pretty good score by David Arnold. Also, in DAD, we get a variety of great locations that span across dirt and mud of North Korea to Caribbean Cuba to cold ice of Iceland. Is DAD in my Top 5? No, but I do prefer it to OHMSS any day of the week.
Oh, I`m sorry. My taste doesn`t match yours, I must be the imbecille then...? (to quote YOU)
Right. As you have decided to make this personal, so shall I.
I can see your passion. I get it. I can be passionate too. If you were to insult me to my face like you just did, I would become passionate. You would be picking your teeth out from your throat. Crying, for your mummy.
Don`t believe it? Try me.
That`s the great thing about the internet though, isn`t it? You can act like a total retard and sleep well afterwords, in your little Wizzard fantasy.
It`s people like you who ruin the vibe of friendly forums. And all the other f*ck wits who backed your abusive post towards me.
YOU, owe me an apology.
While I don`t claim to be an expert on Bond as much as some people here, I probably have been a fan longer than you have been walking your GOOFY ass on this planet.
Oh, and go and look up the meaning of franchise, it doesn`t mean fast food burgers.
For the record, and to REINSTATE, I said DAD and OHMSS were messy films. I just prefer DAD.
OHMSS is crapola of the first degree, and Lazenby is f*cking awfull. This does not equate a Brosnan fanboy. Try and get your thick mind around this, you total pr*ck.
Have a nice day in Wizzard land.....
You, my friend, have nice taste.
Thank you! Just to ask, seeing that we may have similiar tastes, do you rank GoldenEye high up?
:-bd Me too! It's my Number 1 favorite Bond movie of all time!
There's no need to get aggressive Shorline. We all have our own thoughts and opinions and Wizard expressed his clearly and articularly (other than the 'imbicile' remark). I myself, as stated, am not a big Laz fan but I'd take OHMSS over DAD anyday.
OHMSS has Diana Rigg, Tely Savalas and Louis Armstrong.
DAD has Halle Berry, Toby Stevens (good actor in a hammy role) and Madonna.
I know which one I'd pick and I know which one has more heart and dignity.
So, if my opinion is different from the majority, I have to take insults?
Get real...
I have never knowingly insulted someone who has a different opinion to mine, I don`t expect it back.
Well, if this is the case, that if you don`t fall in with the crowd, then you are not welcome, see ya.
