Okay I can add to that.

And can report I had two excellent martinis (The Vesper and Room 39) at Dukes just last week with a good friend.

Berry Bros & Rudd has teamed up with bartender Alessandro Palazzi to create a ready-to-drink (RTD) Vesper Martini using No.3 Gin.

The No.3 Vesper Martini was previously unveiled as a limited edition pre-bottled cocktail, which was available in select outlets.

Due to its popularity, Berry Bros has unveiled a permanent RTD variant in collaboration with Palazzi, of Dukes Bar in London’s Mayfair, which is known for its Martinis.

The RTD combines No.3 Gin with vodka and vermouth.
“The Vesper Martini is a homage to James Bond – to the first novel, Casino Royale, and to the beautiful spy, Vesper Lynd,” said Palazzi.

“It is the most popular Martini at Dukes; my recreated version uses English vermouth and Polish vodka, a nod to both the writer and the agent, and most importantly No.3 Gin – a proper, honest, juniper-led gin, just as it should be.”
Berry Bros said the RTD cocktail market is now worth £475 million (US$655m) in the UK.

The bottled cocktail is recommended served chilled from the freezer after two to three hours, and then poured into a Martini glass and garnished with a twist of orange.

The bottle’s label features artwork from the gin brand’s Art of Perfection campaign.

A QR code on the bottle also provides drinkers with tips from Palazzi and No.3 Gin brand ambassador Ross Bryant on how to mix a Vesper Martini at home.

The bottled cocktail is available online from Booths and John Lewis, as well as in 28 Booth stores and across all John Lewis stores. It is priced at RRP £35 (US$48) per 500ml bottle.

I’d love to get my hands on some of that but I don’t think it’s available in Canada.

Stumbled across this in my local craft beer emporium today. I'm not really a pale ale person but sure, why not?

Champagne Bollinger Launches A Dr. No Inspired Limited-
Edition To Celebrate 60 Years Of James Bond
    boll-1.jpeg
2022 marks the 60th anniversary of the James Bond films. For the special celebration Champagne Bollinger has selected the bold and vibrant 2007 vintage, which embodies the enduring partnership between the Maison and 007. This limited edition Cuvée that was unveiled at the Sixty Years of James Bond Auction at Christie’s London, is inspired by Dr. No’s 1962 iconic opening sequence, designed with a spectrum of colourful dots.
    Bollinger-60th-Anniversary-Limited-Edition-768x1138.jpeg
Only 25 jeroboams have been released, representing the 25 James Bond films that span the past 60 years. The 2007 vintage release is limited in volume, with the wine for the prestige Cuvée being hand-picked, vinified in wooden barrels, before being aged in the Champagne Bollinger cellars for 14 years and finally riddled and disgorged by hand. The contrast between the intensity of the spicy aromas, the notes of fruit, brioche and honey, and the wine’s freshness make for a rare tasting experience.
    Eon_CorpEonCorp20_Ref147_-691x1024.jpeg
Honouring the most perfect of partnerships, each individual jeroboam is presented in a special-edition Globe-Trotter case, numbered 001 to 025. Handmade in England with meticulous attention to detail, the 26” 2-wheel trolley case features the bold and striking Dr. No-inspired artwork. The iconic leather details are accentuated with the signature Bollinger red colourway on the corners and handles. The red detail is carried onto the striking red rayon interior lining. Each jeroboam is secured in the case with a precise cut-out to protect the bottle in transit, which can then be removed to carry style and elegance with you, wherever in the world you travel to. Each case displays internal and external silver plaques with the Champagne Bollinger and 007 60th anniversary logos, finished with a luggage tag, making it a true collectors’ piece.

The recommended retail price for the limited edition set is £7,000 and will be available to purchase from the Bollinger Burlington Bar

The Bollinger Burlington Bar will showcase a special installation in honour of the James Bond 60th anniversary.

Book your table now and raise a glass to 60 years of 007!

    Opening Times; Tuesday – Friday; 12pm -7pm, Saturday; 12pm – 8pm

Very cool, though I've sort of stopped buying the Bond booze, even the affordable stuff. When I do, I don't drink it for a long time because I want to "save it", then I reason that I can drink it and still keep the empty bottle, then I keep the empty bottle for awhile before realizing it's just added to the junk I clutter up my apartment with and ultimately recycle it.

The most Bond like booze you can buy is just whatever you like, drink it, and be done with it (IMO).

I still wouldn't mind a bottle of that London No. 3 Vesper, just to see what it tastes like.

I do have an ongoing 'Bond drinks cabinet' project, with drinks from the books and the films, but it's a bit of a painting the Forth bridge endeavour because I keep drinking bits of it :)

About International Gin and Tonic Day
    https://www.thereisadayforthat.com/holidays/various/international-gin-and-tonic-day

International Gin and Tonic Day is observed on October 19th.

It was founded in honour of gin lover Mary Edith Keyburn, who passed away aged 95 on that date in 2010 with a G&T in a teacup by her bedside in a hospital in the USA.
According to her friends who established the day in her memory, Edith was ‘a remarkable woman who loved to have the occasional tipple of gin and tonic’. Her family smuggled the G&T into the hospital in a water bottle and hid it in plain sight in a teacup.
Starting with family and friends, the International Gin and Tonic Day Facebook page was established in 2012. Over the following years, it then spread from the US East Coast to the rest of the world.

I did not know the origin story of G&T Day - that's lovely! I'll certainly have one tonight.

Got this on the go at the moment - incredibly smooth for 57%:

Added the Collins glasses to my Riedel cocktail glassware collection. Also just got some more sealable bottles, so I'm making simple and demerara syrup right now. Going to add Old Fashioneds and Whisky Sours back to the menu for winter. ;)
"Shaken" is underneath the bar book there on the bottom right... the one cocktail I still really want to make from it is the Blofeld. My liquor stock is quite low at the moment though.

I did an off season Oscar themed party for my work a few weeks ago and I bought a bunch of them off Amazon and gave them away as prizes.
They fired me the next day.

That's awesome. It never got off the ground? Did you write a script for it at least?

:)) It was much less related than I made it sound. And it was much less dramatic too. I'm on to better things for myself.

@Some_Kind_Of_Hero I did write a script, and people seemed really into it... but when it came to start filming things people got cold feet, which is obviously fair. These are accountants we're talking about.
  • They weren't willing to take a calculated risk? /:)

Still, that's cool you wrote the script at least and tried to get something going. Glad to hear you're in a much better place now too!

Not sure if this is the right thread, but in CR when Bond orders a 'Mount Gay and Soda' does anyone know what soda it was mixed with?

He’d have meant soda water, so just fizzy water - in one of the books he stipulates Perrier. I’d not heard of a rum and soda; whisky and soda is more common (see Moonraker).
