It went down reasonably well, but I really don't see it as a Bourne film. It has a different flavour to it and the pacing is different also. Somewhat like how NSNA is different from the EON entries.
I've been enjoying Moby's new version of Extreme Ways which ends the latest film and thought I'd post it here. It's epic (especially mid to end). Quite a few folks stayed in their seats to enjoy it in the theatre.
Again until it's on TV.
Or they could just pinch a tune off one of Moby's old albums.
It was bad enough when Hans Zimmer's scores sounded the same. :))
Same here. I never had a problem Legacy previously but having re-watched the original three Damon films prior to the release of Jason Bourne and enjoying Jason Bourne immensely I watched Legacy last night and didn't get into it either.
It looks great on Blu Ray though. A very crisp picture and great sound.
No creativity... Super disappointed!
Big Bourne fan and you make a movie about literally nothing? He literally got into a bunch of useless fights and flew from Greece to Vegas just to confront one guy?? Weak. I mean all of this to find out his Dad's involvement?
Just doesn't make sense to me.
The first few Bournes were so legendary, my favorite Bourne scene is that house sequence where he sets the toaster fire, lures the swat team in and it blows up while he escapes.
I think Bourne had maybe 5 lines in the film too lol. Is anyone else disappointed? It literally felt like they were trying to make a quick buck?
Maybe it's just me but I watched all the previous Bourne films before watching this and this felt bad. Kinda like Taken 2 and 3.
So? What did you think? :D
I didn´t notice non stop action from start to finish, but the idea of surveillance is used to utmost effect, blending plot element and visual style masterfully. By the way, if it wouldn´t fit a Bourne film like a glove, I would make fun of this film for ripping off the total surveillance idea from SP, but the way it is used it doesn´t really look like a rip-off, and frankly this film makes so much more out of it.
As for those who despaired when a tv spot leaked a supposedly major plot point weeks before the release, it´s really not that major, other things in the film are much more of importance. I find it much more annoying that hardly any word of dialogue from the trailers was in the movie.
As for Vincent Cassel, sure, it would have been possible to flesh him out more, perhaps even make him be Carlos the Jackal. But it wasn´t at all necessary for the story of the film, in fact as his character is he fits much better with the whole Bourne history so far.
The whole story wasn´t very original, but it was by far not as lazy as some suggest it is.
Can´t wait to watch it again!
CASINOROYALE, shame on you for supporting illegal uploads!
If you didn´t catch the plot I feel very sorry for you. At all, if you didn´t catch the plot, perhaps try first to understand the film, before you complain about lack of originality.
The amount of Bourne´s talking fits the film perfectly IMO, so I wouldn´t know what there is to be disappointed about.
Not everyone can afford to pay $10 to see a movie , especially when you have tons and tons of bills and you're college aged... It didn't seem worth seeing in theaters honestly and I am a big Bourne fan.
I read the books and saw every film when they came out. Visuals were stunning and loved the Vegas visuals.
I just don't think you can top the first few films that came out. They had meaning and Bourne was actually on the run. So much suspense and the thrill of him almost getting caught every single time was great. This film was weird to me. The main goal was to bring him in. Not even to kill him.
Except the CIA director or whoever it was had a secret team trying to kill him. Bourne easily took them out not even a challenge.
Something just felt off during the film, like there wasn't much of a threat and it was one of the movies that are fun to watch on Netflix or rent but to go see in a theater.. Ehh..
I'll admit I will only see films that I am super excited for like, suicide squad, bond films, the marvel films;etc.
I´m starting to realise that all the surveillance cam stuff gives the film a very free dimension of space and somehow reminds me of the wide-angle shots used so much and so much to my delight in most of the old Bond films.
I find it also interesting that the film visually offers many impressions of free space, while it simultateously has massive restrictions of freedom as a major topic.
Time to watch it again :-).
Funnily, while I always held that there was a distinctive visual difference between Bourne2+3 and QoS, this time the film in places reminded me of QoS. Especially the way the logo is projected to the walls in Vegas reminded me of Greene´s fundraiser, and some bits with Vincent Cassel fighting someone backstage reminded me of Bond fighting someone behind the stage at Bregenz.
But it doesn´t bother me in the least. I hugely enjoyed the rich colours. I think it also makes a difference that this is the first Bourne film that is not set in the snowy season.
So in China you can only see this movie in 3D...
