Unbelievable. So much for universities encouraging students to think independently...

    Yes, but hardly "unbelievable".

Of course, a poor choice of word. I should have known better. Things have certainly changed in the years since I was at university in the 2000s.

Yes, I thought those days were well behind us but it seems not. History sadly often repeats itself in slightly different ways. The annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation in 2014 (the first of its kind in Europe since the days of World War II) should have been a warning to us of Putin's ultimate intentions. Unfortunately it seems that NATO's hands are tied as Ukraine is not a NATO member. I do fear what will happen if Putin decides to invade, say, Poland, a member of NATO. That never ends well.

To echo M's words, in many a Bond film, this damn thing could lead to nuclear war.

Putin has certainly already threatened it against any state who stands in his way and it's hard to say that he is bluffing given recent events in Ukraine.

I'm so glad you got out of that pickle. I hear the Aussie cops can be rather... draconian.

I do wonder whether there is any truth is Putin's claim of Neo-Nazis in Ukraine? I would bring this up in the main forum, but I'll probably be lynched. Free speech is awesome, right?

The Azov Brigade is part of the National Guard and rule Mariupol.
Right Sector played a key part in the coup d etat in 2014.
The party Svoboda is the second biggest, and the US wants them in the government.

They are all social nationalists and white supremacists and killers.

The question is why would the US want them in power?

    Because they are anti-Russian.
