If I did give you a list, you would just criticize it because I criticized yours. Also, that wasn't a "great catalog of artists" as you said. It was actually pretty terrible. "American Pie"? Really? That's one of the greatest songs of all time for you?
Yes, it is my favorite song I've yet to hear, and always will be. Now you are getting to the point of utter ignorance and causing unwanted frustration amongst this thread. You can stereo type "kids" and their musical tastes all you want, but you become a rude nuisance when you judge my tastes in music, which both myself and the other members appreciate. This is a thread of posting our greatest songs and adding to the great list here, not being judgmental about who likes what. If you took the time to make a list no one would judge it, because all of us here are capable of accepting everyone's music tastes. It appears you missed the memo, and instead resorted to criticizing what I think is great music, and I find that one of the greatest acts of ignorance. So either contribute or go complain somewhere else, this thread isn't for that.

Agreed to the full! Today's music is just insulting and quite frankly, shows no talent whatsoever. Auto-tuning and whatnot don't really show true musical genious you know! Pick up a guitar any day and just try to master what the '60s,'70s, and '80s classic rock artists achieved. That's talent right there!
Exactly, it's a case of "can dish it out, but can't take it", which really shows insecurity.
Great list!
I think "How to Disappear Completely" by Radiohead is the greatest piece of recorded sound ever committed to tape. Kid A as a whole is just... I really can't describe properly why it's perfect. It just is.
That song gets me every-- single-- time.
Second place: Sundown Sundown by Nancy Sinatra. First heard that song when I was in the middle of a 8 years span without a girlfriend. Every single man who is without a soul mate will recognize himself in the lyrics.
Oasis- Don't Look Back In Anger
Nirvana- Smells Like Teen Spirit

The Beatles- Hey Jude
Nice to see another Clash fan! I think London Calling is their best song.

YEAH CANADA!
Great List! I love that EC song. I would add Pulp's "Common People" too.
Cheers.
Common People is arguably Cocker's masterpiece, but Babies somehow resonates with me more. As brilliant as A Different Class is, I prefer His 'n' Hers and This is Hardcore.
Pulp wiped the floor with their Britpop contemporaries, although I have a fondness for Suede (at least the Anderson/Butler era, though some of the later stuff is decent).
This is how I felt at my last workplace.
I read @Dr_Metz's posts on this thread yesterday. Basically he thought everyone had awful music taste but wasn't prepared to put up a list of his own for fear of criticism. That, I think you'll find, is the perfect example of a hypocrite.
This was also a guy who decided SF was rubbish based purely on viewing the trailers and wasn't going to watch it. It's not a surprise to find he hasn't been on here for a year!
I could list so many by The Beatles ... I'll try to restrain myself
Dusty Springfield - The Son of a Preacher Man/The Look of Love
The Beach Boys - God Only Knows/In My Room
Glen Campbell - Wichita Lineman
CCR - Sweet Hitchhiker
Jefferson Airplane - Somebody to Love
Janis Joplin - Get It While You Can
Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower/Purple Haze/Hey Joe
Led Zep - Black Dog/Rock and Roll/Thank You
Rick Derringer - Rock and Roll, Hootchie Koo
Derek & the Dominoes - Layla (and Eric's later slower version, too)
T Rex - Bang a Gong
The Clash - London Calling
Humble Pie - I Don't Need No Doctor
The Stones - Gimme Shelter/Jumpin Jack Flash/Satisfaction
JJ Cale - Crazy Mama
Neil Young - The Needle and the Damage Done
Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion
Cyndi Lauper - I Drove All Night
The Police - Every Breath You Take
U2 - One/Elevation/Desire
Pearl Jam - Staying Alive
Sinead O'Connor (the only thing I like by her, but it is so lovely): Nothing Compares To You
Paul McCartney - Maybe I'm Amazed
John Lennon - Instant Karma/Imagine
George Harrison - Something/Here Comes The Sun (yes, with The Beatles)
The Beatles - A Hard Day's Night/With a Little Help From My Friends/A Day in the Life/the entire 2nd side of Abbey Road, Golden Slumbers through The End (but it is so easy to say the entire album, no lie)
Lynyrd Skynard - Simple Man/Sweet Home Alabama/Free Bird
Geez, I need to stop now. I'll add more later.
The soundtrack of my life; fun to think about. :)
And thanks @JBFan626 for the reminder of Wichita Lineman - sung perfectly and a haunting melody; I love it still
Michael Jackson - You Rock My World.
This was the song that made me a big fan of the King of Pop in October 2001. See the music video here:
