That would explain it ! ;)
But still, DAD is a top 10 outing for me while TWINE, CR and QOS are 20st, 21st and 22nd respectivly.

I wouldn´t rank TWINE that low, but the drama scenes drag it down. Why not make another TND instead of that emo stuff. The boat chase, casino scene, the ski chase, Q-scene, the scene in the mine and the scene at Valentin´s factory all were great. And the car too. Unfortunately, the producers decided to lower the quality in between.

That's how I feel about CR and QOS... talk about destroying the original novel..... DAD on the other hand is pure entertainement, tons of fun and laughs... DAD is pure awesome ! And of course, Brosnan delivered a much more Flemingesque performance than Craig in either of his 2 films....

I dont want to be rude but...

Parts of Brosnan in DAD are actually quite effective - namely the earlier pre-Iceland stuff.

"Just surviving Mr Chang - just surviving" (always makes me smile)
"Do it...now get out...unless you really want to give me a massage"
"It's the addition of the Volado tobacco...slow burning...it never goes out"

The scene with M in the abandoned underground station ("maybe its time you let me get on with my job")

    "Does this still work"

I see actonsteve is still blinded by his total love of Craig and CR... I feel sorry for him... oh well I'll pop in DAD in the dvd player today and enjoy a real, proper, entertaining Bond film with a real and proper Flemingesque performance from a real and proper Bond actor.

this sums up it up. Total film put in as the 10th worst film ever made - the other nine must have been really bad.

    http://www.totalfilm.com/features/50-most-hated-movies-ever-made/die-another-day-2002
The problem with these 'worst' lists is they only seem to cover the last 10 to 20 years, ignoring the rich and full history of the cinema.
And also they rely on super hero flicks too much.

I cringe less with an Austin Powers or Johnny English film. DUD is alongside Spiceworld. The Bond franchise was lucky Bond didn´t Die THAT Day. I saw YOLT, MR and DAF (OTT Bond films) just the other day and boy...those were way better than DUD. Brosnan was awfull in it - a Shatner/Baldwin brit with a stick up his... Berry is ridiculous. The villain is preposterous. Bloody hell, it´s all one big fail. And when SF comes out, we´ll look behind and see DUD as this pile of turd left on a cherished movie franchise. Rant over. Bye.

At least it's properly acted. The only Fleming coming out of Brosnan is if he ate a book... Richard Simmons would deliver a Better Bond!

And we're back to the brosnan bashing, again....
Eh ? Brosnan delivered one of the most Fleming-esque performance in DAD !! A huge middle-finger directed at the appalling TWINE, and his awful melodramatic performance in the 1999 outing.

I liked TWINE, I think its brosnans best film along with TND.

DAD, I like most of it. It would probably be my favourite bond film if the final part was re-written. I loved all of it up until the end of the iceland scenes. I can get past the invisible car, but I hated the CGI action, and the giant diamond laser.

And brosnan is a great bond, who is a good actor and is very close to flemming, he's my 2nd favourite bond, but can't top dalton ;)

Johnny english is decent enough, and austin powers is just hilarious. There's nothing cringeworthy about either of them.

right, because being the 6th highest grossing film of 2002 would kill the franchise.... most people in hollywood would kill to make a film as successfull as DAD.

Batman & Robin made a lot of money in the theatre too. Just sayin'. ;)

If there's any rubbish around here it's Austin Powers... terrible. DAD and both Johnny English films are simply excellent. I prefer to watch DAD back-to-back or both English films back-to-back than the Craig outings.

7 billion people in the world, many of them move capital around. How many of them have taste and are not plain stupid? Point being, how much money a film makes isn´t an indicative of it´s quality. Anyone who thinks that belongs in the group of people I mentioned...the stupid ones.

    Die Another Day is excellent?

The first two Austin Powers movies were good- laughed a LOT. Goldmember wasn't so hot, but casting Michael Caine as Austin's dad was the best casting idea EVER!

Also love Johnny English, though I haven't seen the new one. Is it as good as the first?

Even if it was bad quality (which alot of it isn't), then it STILL wouldn't have killed the franchise. It was still making money, more films would've been made, and DAD didn't actually get as much hate at the time as it does now. Plus, after every insane bond film (MR, YOLT), they have a more low key one, so we would've got a more realistic film afterwards anyways.

I like CR but the reboot wasn't really needed and in no way did it save the franchise, because DAD came nowhere near killing it.

The plots more complex but I think its as good as the 1st. And I agree about goldmember, I think it was good but nowere near as funny as the other 2. Lets hope austin powers 4 will be better.

Where did I say box office numbers meant quality ? I merely said a sequel that ended up as the 6th highest grossing film of its year wouldn't kill a franchise. If the film was bad they'd just reboot the franchise, if the film was well-received they'd make a DAD 2. The fact is no franchise will ever die with a top 6 grossing film of the year, no matter how badly-received the film is. A movie as successful as DAD cannot kill a franchise. All it would do is give birth to a reboot.

DAD didn't come close of killing the franchise. Get that fact in your head. Without DAD there wouldn't be Craig or CR's, so you should be thankful that DAD was made.

IMO the 2nd one was better.

Which...they did. Finally, some common ground eh DC007? So, by your logic, the film was bad. Bazinga!

No, it was just badly received. Which doesn't mean I have to follow the opinion of those who didn't like it. Everyone had to follow the opinion of the majority, it would suck, because everyone would love the same films and hate the same films. Where would be the fun in debating if everyone had the same opinions ?

I´m just messing with you man. How old are you? (just out of curiosity) no ofense there. I´ts just that you tastes are a bit...well...different from mine. So I´m curious. Are you a Moore gen fan?

Yikes! And you´re a fan of the double-taking pigeon as I understand it. To each his own I guess. Good show. We´re all intitled to an opinion and the right to defend it. I´m on the other end of the spectrum as far as Bond tastes go. I like the serious and exotic, and not the funny and OTT. Fair game. See ya.
