Her death, and specifically its effect on Bond, is the point of the story!

Exactly-- before she died, Bond was ready to quit and be with her forever. He even went so far as to quit MI6 via EMAIL! Burn! lol
But seriously, we couldn't have had a Bond movie end like that.

Read all the post. I wrote there previously, „no reboot“.
Only the simple change of actor and change of Bond character. Sample - AVTAK/TLD transition. Do you remember Tracy? Then Bond would had been maried.

Whoops, since I quoted someone who quoted you, I didn't see your whole post! My mistake!

Big missed oppertunity was Moore ending on a strong note with OP instead of AVTAK. I'm not the biggest Moore fan but i believe he kept the franchise going and he didn't deserve to be humiliated like he was in AVTAK. A more serious version with Dalton while still having Walken as Zorin would have been awesome.

Also regarding previous posts. I don't believe that Bond will ever get THAT campy again. We may have more lighter films but I don't believe we'll ever see a DAD or MR again to an extent.

God rest her soul and all but It's a relief that Winehouse didn't get the opportunity to do a Bond theme, I wasn't really a fan of her work

The Lynd death in Royale was one of the best of the series and quite haunting too, although maybe I would of liked to have seen her in QOS too if possible

Also I would of wanted to see Barbara Carrera in an official Bond release, she seemed wasted in NSNA, and would of jumped at the chance of having her in AVTAK as Zorin's love interest instead of the awful Grace Jones but it's no good crying over spilt milk

About what? That Amy Winehouse, all crackwhore that she was, had a better voice than Madonna?

To me music is all about skills. Pop & dance music resides at the very bottom of the dump with country. ;)

I meant that DC007 must have been joking when he said he liked Madonna´s new song. Best to review the order of the above anwsers Luds old boy. You see, I never doubt your witt ;) That DAD thread a** wiping pun you made just a few minutes ago was priceless BTW. My feelings exactly, about DAD and about Madonna.

I still stand by my statement. CR is all about Bond battling Le Chiffre against all odds, but overlooking his blind spot, Vesper. CR without Vesper dying is pointless.

    I "echo" your reasoning.

You calling me a duck or a quack? :-?
  • I need to add something else here. I would have loved to see Greta Scacchi as Miss Moneypenny opposite Timothy Dalton's Bond, especially if he had gone on to do more films as Bond. Caroline Bliss is a doll, but wasn't quite right for Moneypenny. I think Scacchi has more of a snappy personality and would have been great.

I'm not sure about Moneypenny, I think Scacchi would've worked better as a 1990's Bond Girl with Dalton as Bond.

"CR without Vesper dying is pointless." Totally agree! That's like OHMSS without Tracy dying.

Also totally agree with Baltimore 007 regarding MR. I HATE that movie!!

    If I'd have known... 8-|

and at what point at any time did I mention that I hated Moonraker, It may not be classic Bond or win any awards, granted, but it's a damn fine Bond outing and one of the best 007 releases of the time, at least in terms of entertainment

Yes, it is dumb, inplausible, childish, etc etc, great fun for eight year olds, but by the same token as said, lots of fun to be had and keeps you amused

    I don't hate it, anything but -

Using the actuall Moonraker novel would be my preference it proberbly was one of fleming's stronger plots!!!

    1. Not asking back Lazenby
    2. Settling issues with Connery so that he could take part in the 50th anniversary of Dr No.
    3. Not considering John Barry again
    4. Ditching the terrible Jaws character

Not having any set pieces or action with our friends in the great white north. I mean there could be plenty of scope for action with regards to Toronto, CN tower etc, could of been some neat action bits there, The St Josephs Oratory in Quebec, The West Edmonton Mall in Alberta, The Confederation bridge off New Brunswick and last but not least, Niagara Falls, what opportunity for some super action bits and locations there

Just for good measure I would of liked to have seen James Carrey or Pamela Anderson involved in said action bits as characters if possible for some added Canadian flavor. It's not too late maybe

I can't see how anyone could believe that someone could fall out of an airplane flying at 30,000 feet and survive by falling into a circus tent. Only Wily Coyote in the Roadrunner cartoons can do that.
    That's easy to explain-

Moonraker is not to be taken seriously

I repeat, Take anything that occurs in this 1979 Moore nonsense with a pinch of salt

    You'll be fine

The unused Fleming stories--YOLT, TMWTGG, and MR (the card game in particular)--are big missed opportunities.

I'd say not using Lewis Collins as a suitable replacement for Roger Moore.

There is no such thing as a suitable replacement for the GREAT Sir Roger Moore.

Anyone remember Ken Wahl? Fairly sure that one was also peddled by the odd rag at the time as next Bond after Roger. Seems like it didn't work out that way.

To me the biggest mistake in the bond franchise was not having a 5th Pierce Brosnan movie. The producers should have made a deal with Pierce to make a 5th bond movie before Die Another Day started production. They could have made a good deal with him and then they could have started pre production for a 5th Brosnan bond film during post production for Die Another Day for release in November 2004. The 5th film could and should have been Everything or Nothing that would have made a great film for Pierce to end his bond career on. And say if that did happen they could have used Pierce to help the producers scout out a new Bond for the Reboot of the franchise for Casino Royale in 2006.
