Product placement has been prevalent in Bond for as long as I can remember and has gotten increasingly worse since GE. I think for the most part we kind of accept it and put up with it as best we can.

But what I can't abide by, and I agree with @MajorDSmythe on this, is that more and more frequently it's being written into the script. Not just the hideous "Omega" line in CR but also Eve in SF, whose only job it would seem to be is naming car brands in the PTS: "He's in the Audi", "VW Beetles, I think".

This is something I do not want to see in future Bonds. It may be wishful thinking though.

And sans earmuffs, no less. What noise.

    - Casino Royale has the most embarrassing dialogue of the series: "I have no armour left. You've stripped it from me. Whatever is left of me - whatever is left of me - whatever I am - I'm yours." Someone got paid to write that?

There are some cringey lines and one awful bit of product placement but it's nowhere near as bad as the dialogue in DAD imo.

DAD has some clangers, 'Yo Mama' being the crowning turd in the cistern of the film. Though that line was bad, the dialogue in Casino Royale made me wince. I felt like I had to apologise to anyone else watching, on behalf of the writers.

As for the product placement, that hasn't gotten better either. In CR alone, I recall that close up of the front of the Bondeo, the Sony logo painfully visible when Bond is watching the CCTV footage of Dimitrios & Solange at the club and the Omega/Rolex line on the Train.

Just for thr sake of accuracy, Jinx does not say '' Yo mama '' in DAD.She says '' Your Mama ''.

DAD did manage a funny line when one of the lackeys says "He broke the speed record" (or something like that).

Die Another Day is a vintage breathtaking, it's got everything plus Jinx.

Not sure if it should be here, but following the reading of these comments from John Cleese, I have a controversial opinion about him: http://www.cinemablend.com/new/John-Cleese-James-Bond-Films-Have-One-Fatal-Flaw-43594.html

Here it is: John Cleese is senile.

Not a bit of it. He's just a chap who enjoys the funny. I actually agree with him to a small degree.

    I said a SMALL degree. :))
  • Well, John Cleese has fair share of controversial opinions about the series' humor and Asian audiences: https://www.yahoo.com/movies/john-cleese-says-james-bond-films-lost-humor-to-appeal-89763706977.html

Timothy Dalton is a better Bond than Roger Moore.

I doubt that's terribly controversial around these parts. There are a lot of Dalton fans here.

Die Another Day is a better Bond film than any of Daniel Craigs Bond films.

That is a good one going for pure controversy.

Not sure how controversial this is, but I believe TMWTGG to be a better Bond film than MR, OP, and AVTAK.

That's controversial (but probably only in my eyes). I heavily prefer all of those over TMWTGG.

Yeah me too. I think MR is clearly the better film on technical aspects alone. Music, cinematography. Even plot logic, IMO at least, is stronger in MR than in TMWTGG. As for OP, wow, I would rate OP among the better Bonds in general. As for AVTAK, there's a challenge for me. Perhaps I must conclude that both AVTAK and TMWTGG constantly switch sides in my bottom three list.

Ok - stupid as it sounds, good then (since the idea was a controversial opinion). For me by a long shot, TSWLM and FYEO are the best Moore films; I doubt that that's too controversial.

I think FYEO is indeed Moore's best. I have no reason to assume this to be very controversial. Spy is a good film too in my book. ;-)

Gosh I love them. But for some reason, I used to not like FYEO as much; I have no idea why, but it has climbed from #18 to #9 in my rankings. LALD comes third after them for me - unless I'm in a Bond-a-thon, those are typically the only 3 Moore films I'll rewatch here and there. I don't know if I've said it here before, but in light of the Bond girl elimination, to me Tatiana is the most overrated Bond girl by a long shot (that's gotta qualify as controversial, seeing as she's likely to finish 3rd).

This has probably been asked many times before, but it's something I'm really curious to hear what people think about it (and I'm sure it'll be controversial), but should the slide whistle from The Man With the Golden Gun used during the corkscrew jump be removed from future releases of this film? I think we're all in agreement that it's terrible and taints what should have been a brilliant scene, but should it be erased from the film? After seeing this YouTube video, I think I would want it to be removed...

@MayDayDiVicenzo, that is most certainly leagues better, and the brief moment of silence while Bond and Pepper are in mid-air heightens the fact that this is one truly impressive stunt.

Taking out something that never should have been there in the first place would not offend my sense of retaining the original artistic integrity of a film.

Barry himself regretted it. But just removing things from a film goes against the artistic rights, doesn't it? If it could be done, and agreed to, who would have the final say - EON, correct?

I would think so, and if the John Barry estate also give the green light, then perhaps it could be done? And I agree with @chrisisall, it was added as an afterthought during production and should never have been there.

I've been searching for footage of the filming of the stunt for ages, and I've found it on this page (it's the second video at the bottom)-

    http://jt78.wordpress.com/2013/01/07/the-man-with-the-golden-gun-corkscrew-jump/

I think removing it is not in the same league, as say, what Lucas did to the original Star Wars trilogy.

To be honest the corkscrew jump is tolerable. I'd much rather get rid of the unfunny, insulting, dumb, stupid, slappable slut Mary Goodnight.

Yep, not a fan of hers.

I do think TMWTGG might be Roger Moore's best performance.
