    Look- I love FYEO & OP, I have fun with LALD & TSWLM, but TMWTGG just has a special place in my heart as a truly bizarre, yet curiously grounded Moore Bond.

    I love TMWTGG too (and will elaborate when I do a post-Bondathon writeup).

    Having just watched it, my #1 reason for loving it: Roger Moore. He is absolutely brilliant in it. It's his most tough as nails portrayal as Bond (not FYEO, imho), and even though the film has its problems (which I don't condone), and even though it's quirky, it is definitely entertaining.

    The producers. Barry resisted it. Still, if that were the worst thing in the franchise, I'd be ridiculously happy.

    My readings were that Barry regretted folding & adding it in. But it's late, and I'm watching my NEW BD of the movie now. I'll try to find solid confirmation of it tomorrow.

    Golden Gun does go a bit too far into Carry On territory at times for my taste.

    I don't mind some of the OTT humour in Moore's films, but in GG's case I don't find it funny. Just irritating...and I consider the (good) Carry On films a guilty pleasure.

    I just found a quote from Barry that makes it seem like he added it of his own volition just before he finished the score and that it was a bad call on his part due in part to being tired of rushing on the project. So I guess I just remembered it wrong.

    It's pretty terrible. Still, in my most recent viewing I enjoyed the movie more than I had in the past, slide whistle and all.

    DAF turned darker than intended, on the other hand FYEO was much lighter, given the fact they wanted a more serious approach after MR.

    There is some comedy in DAF but I have the feeling that the atmosphere is a little dark, comparing it to the Moore films. Maybe it's the cinematography, the colors.

    Similarly for me, it was my favorite Bond until Casino Royale. At that point I had only seen a few of the entries predating GoldenEye.

    That's about where I have it too (12th recently, up from 16th).

    Brosnan is comfortable in the role, he definitely broke in the suit. The action is captivating and there is an abundance of nifty gadgets. The premise of the story is strong in the first half. I fancy Elektra King as both the Bond girl and the villain. Judi Dench has an abundance of screen time. Zukovsky makes a return appearance. Those are all positives for me.

    Tomorrow Never Lies would have been a better title. But almost too good for the movie.

    But it suffers the same problem in that it doesn't make any sense. What does "Tomorrow never lies" even mean? Even with DAD I understand the sentiment.

    Tomorrow, The newspaper creates it's own truths by setting up stories and coming out 24 hours before everyone else. Tomorrow never lies. ;) It certainly did die though.

    I think that's a little too esoteric. But if they made "Tomorrow“ more of a centerpiece of the movie it would work.
