Madeline is the best Bond girl of the Craig era.

For one thing she doesnt commit suicide after Bond goes to the trouble of saving her from the bad guys.
This is definitely the correct thread for this opinion imho.

Defo. She's the least attractive and least interesting Craig Bond girl.

Didn't think about that but she is the least interesting.

    Least attractive...I don't agree with

The score of TSWLM is the worst of the series except for GE. The biggest problem is the absence of score throughout many scenes, especially the Liparus scenes. I guess that is what takes away the excitement for me in this otherwise nice battle.
I also don't like the disco music in some of the action scenes. It feels completely out of place. This might work in Saturday night live but here it takes away all the intensity and it is too lighthearted and lacks any power. Conti's action score in FYEO was at least meorable and powerfull (especially during the car chase) whereas Hamlish's action score is too relaxed and cool which takes away all the danger.

It's a pretty bad one—still Norman's Dr. No muscles it out for the un-covetable spot of #1 worst.

So, sure, I guess it's marginally controversial to say TSWLM is a worse score than Dr. No, but not quite so much as saying Goldfinger or OHMSS is the worst score.

Here's one I'd like to test the waters with, however...

The Man with the Golden Gun aside, From Russia With Love is my lowest ranked Barry score. Controversial? Non-controversial?

I agree. Delete. FRWL has one of the best scores of the series.

To some extent I agree. The silence toward the end of TSWLM really is very grating.

I don't mind the lack of score in the Liparus scenes. I find that when the score finally kicks in (like when Bond is on the camera rail or after they blow up the control room) it's more impactful as a result. Moreover, the lack of score in this instance allows the tanker scene to breathe more - In fact, I can hear the clanging sounds when the crewmen run through the ship in my ears as I type this.
  • I agree. Delete. FRWL has one of the best scores of the series.

But better than any of Barry's others, barring Golden Gun?

TB & OHMSS are my favourites, but I prefer the FRWL score to GF's. It's more suspenseful and raw. Like Barry was still finding his way before he got the groove down pat.

I feel the same way about TMWTGG. Also different and unique for Barry.

In terms of scores, here are my favourites:

YOLT, OHMSS, DAF, FYEO, AVTAK, TLD, GE, TND, TWINE, DAD.

Yes, I love the early Arnold stuff. I actually prefer it to CR and QoS, but I'm a total philistine when it comes to this kind of thing. :)

My favorite score is actually maybe GE now. :)

Goldeneye is a score that has peaked in my appreciation. The slow, romantic cues are superb, such as this one:

The action scoring on the other hand, is sub-par, though we do get one fantastic track from John Altman in the middle of the film. I will say this though, Serra manages to inject an enormous amount of personality into the film with his cold-sounding strings used throughout the film.

I'm not a fan of Hamlich's score but at least it has Bondian flare and personality. Unlike the water and crackers music we got in the last two films.

I like a lot of what Newman brought to the table, even if some of it was generic. Still, Barry and Arnold remain my two favorite Bond composers.

The romantic stuff was fine but the Action music sucked! Mega disappointment.

My thoughts exactly. Every time I heard a recycled track it took me out of the movie. I was like come on! #-o

Miles and miles better than AVTAK. I prefer it to TLD as well.

That's what pisses me off about SP as well...the whole score is a recycled version of SF ,which should have been a standalone film.

QOS did not use CR score, even though they are closely linked, while SP has nothing to do with SF.

I felt it was a bit of a cheap cop-out if im honest,in SP.

If it works, it works. They could have copied an old Barry score. I wouldn t mind.

Exactly how I felt about the score. It was almost like SPECTRE was a workprint copy where music from the previous film was inserted.
