No one bashes Sir Rog!!!!
Since watching it I've thought of it as a prelude to Austin Powers.
I haven't seen the Austin Powers films in a long time... will give them a go soon.
You cant start slagging off CR67 all of a sudden 007RogerMoore.
Full of gags, over the top and by your AC/DC criteria it is an official Bond film so theres nothing wrong with it.
And seeing as bereft of any Fleming and is not mich different from films such as MR and DAD which you are so keen on I would expect it to feature in your top 5.
Yes, we truly have veered off down many a dark dusty road and lost our way more times that I could accurately count. In addition, though I respect some of the more unsavory opinions laid out in this thread, I can't stop myself from face-palming to the point of a sore wrist.
Certainly two of the most over-rated Bond movies out of the 22.
By the way, hopefully this will steer this thread back on course! Haha.
About a third of this isn't even about Bond either, other non related items have sneaked into the sober arena since it's inception
It's merely 'Controversial opinions about James Bond', but 'feel free to throw in some miscellaneous talk' if you like
In any event, keeping it consistent, the above two releases are indeed overrated, especially the first, not sure OHMSS gets the recognition it deserves sometimes though
This will probably keep rumbling on until the return of Halleys comet so we might as well say whatever opinions we see viable as Bond controversies..
Connery looked damned stupid with a plastic duck on his head..
'Heroin flavored bananas', what a load of nonsense..
OHMSS sometimes descended to Moore levels on occasion with regards to nauseating camp and ill advised humor..
I´m sorry, bit it´s not recognisesable as a Bond film. The others you mentioned have good action and a Bond related story, while CR67 is just a bad joke. There are good things in it, but as a whole...nahhh.
Not sure if that's controversial or just wishful thinking (for both of us, because I vaguely remember having the same dream).
Reading this is like being in a men only pup and listen to them talking as the fly on the wall. Hilarious. Bond and Fleming (hey, I got it right this time B-) ) should be flattered, they arouse so much emotion and dedication from the guys. Its clear some are really serious and some are just playing off the rest, which is fine as well, as its rather obvious, who is what. Just saying, I appreciate the look into the Bond world through the eyes of their fans.
Being a fan of whatever is only fun, if you are are really engaged - otherwise - why bother?
I think, you are funny, when you get mad ;) I think, you punch in earnest.
Sean, George and Roger are one continuous James Bond.
Tim and Pierce are James Bond 'rebooted'.
Daniel, in my opinion, is actually the second 'rebooted' James Bond.
I don't mean the whole 'Bond is a codename' crap- I just mean Bond has been rebooted before
-CR is a horrible Bond movie. CR and QOS are way too serious.
-DAD and TND are great Bond movies.
-The Dalton era should never have happened. He is way too serious.
-FWRL, GF, OHMSS and CR are very overrated.
Yeah, strangely enough, I agree with him. What a surprise.
I'm not surprised. I don't think anyone but yourself is. You know a film can't be overrated if it deserves the praise, right??
;)
From the first time that Grant speaks to Bond, until the end, it deserves praise. The "crawl over here and kiss my foot" part is excellent. I´m not too fond of everything before that, though. One of my least favorites, but still a pretty good movie.
The whole movie is a brilliant piece of Cold War espionage, how can it be bad? It shows exactly how close the East and the West were to war back in the 60s.
Casino Royale horrible Bond movie !
Die Another Day & Tomorrow Never Dies , great Bond movies !
Tim Dalton should never have happened !
Yes, fair enough though, Golfdinger is overrated, I'll allow you that
Point is, Connery fully justifies his place at the top or very near, for his portrayal of James Bond, especially early on, not so sure towards the end
Royale is not really horrible so to speak, inplausible sometimes, most definitely, but on a lesser extent for sure on the last Brosnan outing. I like my Bond's serious, and that's maybe one of the standout advantages of having Craig as our current 007
Can you imagine the James Bond series without Dalton?, Ok he was a bit poker faced sometimes and all business, but so what, It was a most welcome relief after the Big Top antics of his predecessor. Dalton was a bit dark and brooding for some but those are the characteristics I appreciate in James Bond, let's keep it serious
Russia can't be overrated as most people will tell you it fully justifies it's place in the Top three of the entire franchise, James Bond at his best you could say. But Yes, OHMSS, Goldfinger and Royale do get overrated sometimes, it's merely a clash of opinions at the end of the day. We're all here to agree to disagree and all that
Best smile I've had of the evening thus far
I would of loved to have heard Bassey singing that in the intros
Golfdinger,,,,,,,,der der der,,,,,,,,,he's the man, the man with the midas touch etc etc
:))
Why would anyone want to cut out the best pieces? That would be sheer stupidity, wouldn´t it?
Yes, it would be stupid to cut out the best pieces. Of course, those best pieces are
1962-1969
1987-1997
2006-20XX
