Interesting theory. The short stature of Pleasence would explain that, as would the fact that Gray's Blofeld has no neck brace, though the "Blofeld" we see in FYEO does still wear it.
I also consider Gray's Blofeld to be Henderson as a Spectre agent. Then again I consider DAF to be a direct sequel to YOLT over OHMSS with OHMSS following the two films. It makes them more enjoyable to me.
That works too. You could take Bond's anger at looking for Blofeld at the start of DAF either as him trying to locate him following his escape from the volcano or following Tracy's death. I prefer the latter, but to each their own.
And how does Waltz's Blofeld fit in the concept? :-) How was he able to get out of the chimney?
The stainless-steel delicatessen broke the fall.
Well I suppose since CR started a new timeline that shouldn't be too much an issue ;)
So he was lucky enough not to hand it out to Bond :-) And maybe the fall also healed his neck fracture :-) And honestly, Blofeld looked so much younger and more vital in 2015 compared to 1981... Must have had very good doctors...
He used the same plastic surgeon he used back in DAF in 1971...
Sarcastic wit,my friend,is at the heart of every true Englishman .
I'm as sarcastic as Yanks come, believe me, but every so often the adage, "Have some of your own medicine" does me in. We are our own kryptonite, after all.
I know the feeling,believe me !
Different continuity. Waltz's Blofeld is the genuine article unless Bond 25 says otherwise.
on the n64 ? Of course i was on it like a junkie back in those years 97-99
He does seem to be closer to the "super-agent" style of Brosnan in my view.
-his suit is usually immaculate (the PTS)
-the little moments of humour ("good evening" and the sofa gag)
-he recovers from fairly traumatic injuries quickly (Blofeld's torture)
-machine-gunning goons to escape
-the video-game style car chase.
This is definitely more of a Craig thing than a Brosnan thing (see also: Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall)
I can agree on the machine-gunning the bad guys and a few select bits of humor, but not all of it.
Which fairly traumatic injuries does Brosnan endure and disregard moments later? The only one that comes to mind is possibly the torture chair in TWINE. Even still, Blofeld demonstrates how damaging and painful the torture will be, and yet it doesn't seem to affect Bond in any way, shape, or form, so I just see this as a Mendes inconsistency, not so much being the "superhero" Bond that Brosnan was. Just look at Bond's inability to save Severine, only for him to turn into a supersoldier a few seconds later. Plus, these are events I can forgive in the Brosnan era, as his take on the entirety of it was much more OTT, laid-back, and fun, as opposed to this realistic, grounded era of Craig's. These are injuries I can see the likes of Brosnan and Moore getting over ASAP, but not Craig.
Not sure about the video-game style car chase, either - when I think of that, I'd think of, say, the car chase between Bond and Zao in DAD. This car chase was uneventful and plain, the opposite of a video game.
Fortunately, he had some decent, genuine moments in SP as well, but they were far fewer than I expected, and far fewer than we've seen in previous Craig outings.
Fair points.
Regarding the last point, the chase did remind me a bit of games like Everything or Nothing in the early 2000s. It's style of delivering exposition while in the middle of an action sequence did seem like something that wouldn't be out of place in a PlayStation-style game. That and the general photography of the chase in SP and the one below:
(6.15)
Yes, because even at Spectre's worse, it's still a better film than the last three Broz pictures. GE trounces Spectre though, in my book.
That said, I do think Pierce would have fit in perfectly had SP been made for him instead of Craig.
He was clearly being fed a steady diet of buffalo wings while imprisoned, so I don't think his treatment was all that bad.
