Your top 10 is reasonably solid, apart from TND which could do with a drop down about 10 imho.

I know that you've explained your dislike for TB, but it's still disappointing to see both that and DN so low, given they are renown classics. The rest are reasonably placed actually.

I can see those moving up in future viewings but for now even though I really like them they just don't do it for me thunderball especially

I can appreciate that. Let me just say this: when I was 15, my list didn't look anywhere near as reasonable as yours does, so you're doing just fine in my humble judgement.

The OP finale would be much better for me if they could cut out the entire assault by Octopussy's gymnasts.

When I was 15, Thunderball and Dr No were just as low. As you get older, you'll start to appreciate them more. Brosnan Bonds were my favorite at that age but when you start to appreciate the classics you'll understand that most of the Brosnans are just paint by numbers Bond films which fit in very well in the action heavy 90s

Tilly Masterson is the series worst Bond girl. I hate ever saying anything negative about Bond but Tania Mallet's acting here is simply cringe worthy. Every line is so painful.

I tend to forget about her completely when not watching the film. Mallet has very little screen presence, even when required to act dramatically: "Let me go!" It doesn't help I suppose that immediately upon her departure we're treated to one of the most iconic scenes in Bond history, followed by the introduction of Pussy on the plane. Mallet did very little in a film chock-full of iconic characters and elements. I guess she was supposed to be a Judy Havelock-type, ostensibly athletic and capable and out for revenge, but I never bought her as such either. All comes down to the performance I guess.

That's a good perspective by the way. I tend to be overly critical/analytical at times myself. A bit of that is healthy and natural, but overall I think I'd enjoy myself more if I let loose and embraced all of Bond for what it is, instead of what it isn't.

I agree, Tilly is pretty awful.

Agreed. I am not a fan of GF but Tilly is not meant to be your usual Bond girl. She is in to fail and make life more difficult for Bond. Not as iconic as other characters in the movie but maybe better this way. Her motivations are at least better defined than Pussy's.

Agree her acting isn't up to much but she's just bloody gorgeous!

Love her look with her hair down when she's in the escaping Aston with Bond.

Yeah I just find myself watching them far less than every other bond film because I don't enjoy them. Saying that it's not a matter of them being made in the old style of film making because I love frwl

For a young'un you've got pretty good taste, but why do you consider Thunderball to be bottom of the pile?

Thanks! I completely understand the other point of view of putting under a critical lens too, as that can be an enjoyable endeavor as well. Neither outlook is wrong. I personally just enjoy myself more when embracing the super serious, campy, goofy, ridiculous, and all other natures that Bond can be. The variety is what keeps it fresh for me.

You bring up a good point. I don't have a problem with what her character is trying to be. It's definitely a nice new flavor that the series hadn't had yet (a Bond girl with no interest in Bond and only motivated by her revenge). It's the acting that kills me. There are certainly other characters that give poor performances, but this is one of the few that actually take me out of the film. She has so few lines and everyone is delivered (in my opinion) in a cringeworthy way.
Mallet has very little screen presence, even when required to act dramatically: "Let me go!"

Like this! And "You're breaking my back!"

Jones certainly has some poorly delivered lines, but for some reason I forgive it here. Might be because she has so many more lines and at least delivers a few solidly. Part of just embracing it all I guess

Cheers! It's what makes Bond so great. We have the exact opposite opinion, but both love it all anyway :)

Tilly Masterson/Tania Mallet is rivalled in the ham acting department by no other Bond girl except Lupe Lamora/Talisa Soto. Not Britt Ekland. Not Tanya Roberts. Not Denise Richard.

Surely Gloria Hendry gives Mallet a run for her money? One of the most shameful performances in a Bond film imho.

@j_w_pepper Soto has one of the only lines that I've ever laughed out loud at how bad it was the very first time I heard it. "I love James so much"

I love it now, always makes for a good laugh and any scene with more Q is better!

Soto is truly beautiful though. I think she's great and someone you I.e. Sanchez would kill for.

That scene also killed any credibility Pam had for me. The way she imitates Lupe like a jealous, lovestruck school girl is awful.

Actually, that whole scene is bad. I end up feeling sorry for Desmond stuck in the middle of it.

Actors must often use every means at their disposal to pull off questionable writing. ;)
