Poorly executed. We were supposed to be frightened as Bond makes his entrance to that valley of death. But, it was just a typical meeting scene. Sorry, Sam, but that was poorly directed.

I thought it was excellent. It's no TB, but then what is? Tosca is fine, but very arty farty. If I were sat next one of the Quantum members I'd be pretty f***ed off at them rabbiting away into an ear piece. Surely getting the message over that Bolivia is top priority can be done in a less contrived and simplistic manner? It's a fun scene, but I don't see how it is any better than the equivalent in SP. My only regret is that the atmosphere they created doesn't permeate a little more of the film, particularly with Waltz.

The scene wants to to be TB. But its not.

I like the scene. Not sure it was meant to be like the TB meeting scene as that wasn't a mass affair like this was, just a few high-ranking members.

The atmosphere is there and it's quite memorable and an SP highlight for me. I also enjoy the QoS and TB meetings. Maybe I just like meeting scenes.

I got the vibes from the trailer it wanted to be an Eyes Wide Shut type of thing. And honestly, I would love to see Bond fighting those types of villains. But, it was just another meeting scene with low lights. Seems Spectre is economically sparing some budget to pay the bills. :))

It really was the pacing that threw me off. I was sitting in the theatre wondering what the point was. I assumed it was meant to be suspenseful, but it was just dull to me, apart from Hinx's appearance. I almost felt like either film makers didn't realize how boring it was, or I was missing something.

Sadly, the money shot "Welcome James" had already been overexposed in the trailers (idiots), further ruining the sequence.

The Eyes Wide Shut sequence was incredible. Different league entirely.

I dislike that Waltz wouldn't even move his own microphone, yet he's doing all the brunt work towards the end of the film.

    Budget cuts. :))

Little known fact: Christoph Waltz has abnormally weak forearms. Any heavy lifting you see Waltz do in the second half of the film (typing on his keyboard, gesturing with his hands, drawing a heart on the glass)—CGI, all of it.

So he's kind of like the Mr. Burns version of Blofeld then? It all makes sense now.

Definitely...SPECTRE's meeting doesn't even come close to that or TB.

It's not the only scene of SP that emulates Kubrick. And it also had something of Dr Strangelove. I liked it personally.

Anyway the whole movie is full of Kubrick's imagery.

Definitely. As a homage to Kubrick, I find it a dismal attempt to be so. But, on a separate note without trying to connect myself to what I hoped to see from the trailers, it's a likable set of imagery in its overall form.

Berenice on Craig Ferguson. Quite a babe. I don't know how he kept his hands off her:

Her voice is a tad too masculine for me but....ummm....that body and her hands <3

    Hands?!?

They look quite seductive (the way she holds the chair arms and grabs Ferguson's tie :)

Controversial opinion: She made more of an impact in that one scene just looking at Bond across skyscrapers (let alone at the casino where she aced it) than Lea Seydoux did in the whole of SP.

On paper - yes. In execution - no.

@bondjames , that's not a controversial opinion in my eyes.

Severine, with little screen time, is my favourite Bond girl outside of Vesper, in the modern era.

I agree @peter. Both instantly memorable from first sighting in that alluring yet smart Bondian manner.

I agree - TB is littered wifh some of my favorite Connery Bond moments but the film's long, dreadful pace doesn't do the film any favors. I think being told SPECTRE's plan and then watching Bond have to play catch up doesn't really help either. The film would have benefitted from losing an extra 10-15 minutes of film to tighten up the pace. But from what I've read, Hunt had his work cut out for him in post production so it's understandable.
