I'd loved to see that scene - Bond throwing random at Hinx - go on even longer. Just imagine the late, the dear Leslie Nielsen spoofing that scene.

My trouble with the SF fight is that it is just so blatantly choreographed! The kicks and punches are more like a dance scene than a fight scene. The Hinx fight was intense and it also helped that Bond was out of his depth, made it more tense! I love QOS, but the Slate scrap was too Bourne in its execution, though the moment Bond calmly waits for Slate to die is brilliantly chilling!

Nielsen and Sir Rog would make a great comedy act, of the filmic persuasion.

I never realized the noises that Jinx makes in that scene. Sounds to me that shes really enjoying that laser foreplay

Well, the SF scene in the shadows is meant to be an artistic moment. And I like it for how beautiful it is. I agree Craig has better fights if you're in for the sheer brutality of it.

Indeed. It is meant to be arty farty, just like the QoS operatic encounter. I have a feeling they were trying to tone down the brutality of the violence after QoS, and even the Komodo fight suggests that.

I love the Hinx fight, but I always laugh when thinking of Bonds thought process.

"Hmm maybe if I throw this bowl of green beans at him, it'll stop him."

By that stage he was panicking.

If you’ve ever been borderline knocked out before and have some huge guy coming at you I bet you’d throw random things at him. I like how Craig is his own Bond. A lot of people say man Connery, Dalton or Brosnan would’ve never done that! Craig has his own unique style. I like that he’s not copying anyone.

    Same with the plane sequence:

'Hmm maybe if I recklessly knock the wings off and crash into all the cars I'll save Madeline, kill all the bad guys and walk away unscathed. What could possibly go wrong with a plan based on 99.9% luck?'

Does anyone else find the fight aboard the Disco Volante in TB to be somewhat humorous? To me the scene can be quite funny, between Bond going ape on all the guards + Largo and all of them trying to steer the boat away from the rocks while fighting. This frenetic scene makes me chuckle a little.

It only lacks some Benny Hill music.

Oh yes! I find it hilarious!

Another classic is the "back stretch torture" at the health facility in the beginning of the film!

In general all scenes that are blatantly sped up are unintentilnally funny. Like when Tilly's car goes of the road in GF.

I mentioned this ages ago on another thread- I find it hilarious how Largo gets up out of his seat, and Bond backhands Largo out of the frame. Then, moments after Bond has dealt with the other guy, Largo is still shaking his head- but back in his seat!

The question is: Was Bond's backhand too much for Largo that he had to sit down, or did Bond simply knock him back in his seat? :))

I find it hillarious as well. What was the intension of speeding up the sequence? I mean it looks so unnatural and cartoonish. And the Disco Volante is not a speed boat. And why does it always move in such strange ways?

    Exactly.

I think Hinx would have beaten the crap out of Connery,Dalton and Brosnan too.

If I had to choose 1 Bond to fight Hinx it would be CraigBond, and look what happened to him.

What makes it even more hilarious is that it's always the same shot. It looks like they are spinning around in a circle

I just visualized the scene as you suggested. I'm concerned that it's now going to be indelibly etched in my subconscious whenever I view it!

Largo's punching in that scene is hilarious as well.

I believe this will be fairly controversial, but I think Aris Kristatos was a fine villain in FYEO. He seems brutally out of place in the Moore era since his plot is entirely down-to-earth and realistic, and he comes across as effective. He doesn't have any of the usual lines that the Moore villains did, although he also didn't make the mistake of talking too much around Bond.

He does get that shitty scene where he threatens Jacoba Brink with "dealing with her", but he makes up for it with the keelhauling scene. I also liked the scene where he stood up to Kriegler. Also love how he casually strolled around when Krielger fought Bond and later abandoned the former in the monastery.

I think the keelhauling scene is first class, but that's about it as far as Glover's Kristatos is concerned. He was distinctly unmemorable to me otherwise, and outshone by Chaim Topol's Columbo.

My biggest complaint is honestly the script and how it never left a chance for Bond and Kristatos to properly encounter each other again as enemies. It was always brief moments and Bond was always occupied talking to Melina instead.
