More controversial opinion: George is better than Connery overall and, at worst, tied with Sean's best performances as Bond.

a controvesial opinion of mine is ranking Skyfall 2nd out of the 23 Bond movies. I really think I should rank it first, but I can't take TMWTGG off #1

I wouldn't say that's controversial. After it's release, it hit (at least) Top Five on a lot of lists out there.

I was joking ;) I really didn't doubt Skyfall would hit top 5 of a lot of members' lists on mi6community even if I was there to check it out.

@DaltonCraig007, I'm not sure about on here, but with the reviews it received and the majority of love it received on these forums, I'd be surprised if it ranked (at least) over 10th place for a lot of members here.

@Creasy47, I can imagine, Skyfall was so amazing when I saw it in the cinema! best movie of 2012 for me!

I've said it before, but unfortunately, I found myself to be rather disappointed with it after a four year wait. But, I think I'll chalk it up to the loopy mind I found myself to be in by having three Mojitos before the showing, which was a bad idea. I saw it another four times in theaters and with each subsequent viewing, I fell more in love with it. It's truly one of the best Bond films so far.

From the moment I left the forums (august) to the film's release (26 october), I didn't read a single article, news, interview about the movie, I did not watch any trailer at all. maybe that helped me get blown away by the movie!

I need to get put up to speed about Bond 24, I haven't read anything about it yet :O

No there is very little info on it so far. Hopefully we'll start to hear more early next year.

@DaltonCraig007, like I've juggled with in the past, I'm either leaving the forums come 2015 or treading very lightly on a rare occasion. I might have to go your route and just avoid everything in terms of B24. I watched those trailers too many times, I think that might be what spoiled me.
  • Anybody agree with me on Goldfinger?

Not sure how controversial this is but I think Brosnan was probably the coolest James Bond. He was dead suave, he had tons of charm and there were so many moments where I just thought "he's so f***ing cool". Examples

*In Goldeneye at Trevelayns base he's fiddling about with a bomb, bullets slam into the wall beside him and he casually flicks his head to the side, like there's a fly bothering him or something.

*The way he straightened his tie during action scenes.

*The way he walked. There's a brilliant bit in TND where he's escaping the printing press and he rolls out under some shutters onto the street then walks off casually. It's so simple but he makes it look badass because of how smooth he is.

I was going to say, you know Murdock and I are right there with you. Even the way he busts into the room in the yacht in GE, raises the gun, and then puts it down and just strolls in casually.

oh yes, Brosnan was epicly cool at times. adjusting his tie in the tank, flicking his head as @thelivingroyale said, drinking the vodka in the hotel... he was effortlessly cool.

This is TOTALLY controversial and is likely to get you slammed hard by Brosnan-haters, INC.
But I agree lock, stock & smoking barrel. =D>

Goldfinger is not in my top 15 Bond films. IDK why everyone always ranks that Bond film so high. Goldfinger is a joke of a villain in my book

Because it was more or less the blue print for the future series and was the peak of Bond mania. Some will say Thunderball was the peak, but TB was a massive success because of the popularity of Goldfinger and the word of mouth it created.

Is it any good now? Well, it is, but time inevitably has lessened it's appeal and of course the elements we loved back in 1964 - the sex, the action, the glamour, the sheer spectacle - have been gradually hightened in the series to the point of making GF look a little slow and at times monotonous.

But, GF is still a very stylish film, full of iconic moments (only YOLT rivals it for this aspect). And of course Connery was so cool, so dangerous, so macho, it does make you smile and shake your head with a sense of disblelief.

I do however understand why people don't like it now.

not really.. I just have a new appreciation on the franchise now that I've taken a long break from it!

Fair enough, good old JW would have been most disappointed if TMWTGG had been knocked from it's perch!

TMWTGG staying #1 was never in doubt ;)

I'm not wild about the film in general, but Auric Goldfinger is a superb villain. One of the real highlights of the film.

I actually happen to think that TWINE is a brilliant Bond film mixed with psychological drama thriller and it paved the way for the Drama Bonds of the Craig era, especially Casino Royale.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who agrees with a lot of these Brosnan opinions, controversial or not. A lot of people seem to have a problem with the villain layout in TWINE, but I love it, and Bond's execution of Elektra is one of the coldest moments in the series.

Agree except for the bold. OHMSS and the Dalton era are much more responsible for that. Did TWINE contribute? Of course. Just not all by itself.

Yes, TWINE is a film that gleefully goes against the grain.

TWINE is my favorite Bond of all time. To me it was the perfect story to an action film like the Bond films. It gave Pierce a more serious tone to his character as Bond

Definetely agree. I've always been a fan of TWINE.. It has it's faults but I think overall it's a very good Bond film.
