Controversial opinions about Bond films

For me quite a lot of the humour in QoS falls flat. Some of it works but some of it doesn't. I struggle to even raise a smile at the "handcuffs" line. He just mumbles it.
  • Here is another controversial point of view.
Humor is fine in a James Bond film, but not a necessity. Good action scenes, nice looking women, and an interesting plot are a necessity.

4- Although Moore is the best Bond, as said before, he did the worst film, Moonraker.
5- DAD is much worse than CR & QOS.
7- Moore should have started in DAF.
8- Moore didn't look that old in AVTAK, it was only because of his hair.

Totally agree on #1, but MR is the 2nd best Bond film, so I disagree with #2. No, DAD is much much better than CR and QOS. Moore should not have made DAF since the one with Connery is the 3rd best film in the franchise. And agree with Moore in AVTAK, he still looked so charming and charismatic.

Isn't this world great where someone can think DAF is the third best Bond movie, and others (myself) cringe even thinking about it.

    How about this top 5:

    1.TMWTGG
    2.YOLT
    3.MR
    4.OP
    5.AVTAK

Well DAF has the best script in the franchise. Lots of cult classic scenes, tons of instantly classic quotable lines, a large bunch of exotic, colourful, memorable characters. One of the most entertaining Bond perfomance, a highly memorable outing. Lots of cracking humour, silly sound effects and hilarious moments... DAF has everything I love about Bond film !! I could play DAF back-to-back in the same day and still find myself highly entertained and laughing out loud WITH the films at the end of my 2nd viewing. Alongside TMWTGG and MR, DAF really is the best of Bond !!
    How about this top 5:

    1.TMWTGG
    2.YOLT
    3.MR
    4.OP
    5.AVTAK

YOLT is also in my top 5, but I'd put TB in aswell, and not OP/AVTAK... but they still are in my top 10 !!

I like TB too, but compared to YOLT it is, well, not up to par for my top 5.
TB is succesfully mixing the OTT-aspect of Bond with a little seriousness, which should appeal to many. I prefer the less serious movies, however.

A couple of years ago I ranked TB as number 2 on my list.

I´ve already said this, but I feel I must repeat it: Craig should use Little Nellie.
He should also have a Q-watch with laser, geiger counter, magnet or whatever.
A gadget-laden car should be included in every movie, and a gadget-laden boat would be deeply appreciated.

Yep, the gadget-filled car has been solely missed since DAD... IMO of course. And the Q-watch too.

Agree, but Craig in Little Nellie would be hilarious. But I think 99,99 % of Craig fans would puke at the idea.

Craig also needs the invisible car, or atleast a car with missiles. The car chase in QOS would have benefitted greatly from it. And letting every screenshot be visible for at least for a second would be helpful, so you see who does what.

    AVTAK is my Goldfinger

I rank OHMSS, DAF, LALD, TMWTGG high

I like/big fan of TMND, Twine.

Eliot Carver one of my favorite villians.

Not big fan of Goldfinger, Thunderball.

Charles Gray is my favorite Blofeld.

Like Brosnan as Bond and he should have got a fift movie.

    Like Judi Dench as M

Not big fan of Casino Royale, but liked QOS

Agent Fields is one of the best Bond girls sinde years.

I think Dominic Green is not dead or atleast we go to see something about his legacy.

I think QOS is a inspiration for future Bond movies since years.

Doubts about casting Ralph Fienes for Skyfall

Believe the DC era is re-explanation of Bond things and next things what should be done is that Bond should find his soul back and go gamble, martini's and that kind of things again.

Whyle iam not happy with big part of controversial things from Casino Royale, it not mean i can't think about controversial things for future Bond movies. See my fan arts.

    Absolutely

    Same here

    Agreed

Renard survived a bullet in the head, so perhaps Green survied two (or was it three)?

Couldn´t agree more. And the gadgets must come back.

    I don't get it!

All the Brogan fan boys are crying stop bashing Brogan but are quick to bash anyone who don't like his po trail of Bond or anyone who likes Daniel Craig. Hypocrites... If your going to give some bashing expect to get some back and stop crying a river...*cough* DaltonCraig007.

    IMO.
DC was great playing a blunt instrument learning his trade in CR and the sequel SOS. I honestly hope in Sky Fall that he will be more of a classic Bond that we love.

PB Bond movies although with some great Bond moments are my least favourite of the whole series. With all the bad scripts and his bad acting it come well short of satisfactory.
I would of loved Sean Beam being given the 007 status instead of Brosnan.

TD was great and portrayed Bond the way Flemming wanted Bond to be. Dalton got the balance right in two of my favourite Bond movies.

What I love about RM is that he did not try to be the same Bond as Sean Connery but made it his own. I also believe he should have stopped after FYEO(his best Bond movie).

I would of loved to see GL making a follow up of OHMSS.

Love SC as Bond but hate him in DAF.

From James Bond 007 fan boy.

If you're going to talk about Fleming at least spell his name right (and BroSnan's) for that matter.

I agree that Craig is a good Bond. The only thing I bash is CR.
But I hated Craig before QOS, came out, cause I was so disappointed with his first movie. I hung around at DanielCraigisnotBond.com at the time. Now I look forward to SF and hope to see Q and gadgets, among other things.

9- The humor used in CR and QOS is good, but not enough.

    1) Best? No. Good? Yes. It was Moore's second best 70s film, after TSWLM.
    2) I'll give you Brosnan, but most people I've talked to despise Dalton (who I happen to like).
    3) Connery yes. No Moore than that can be said.
    4) DAD is worse than Moonraker. At least Moonraker has a good villain (played by a superb actor).
    5) Duh.
    6) Oh, hell yes it is. Very overrated.
    7) Maybe, maybe not. The film would have probably been taken Moore seriously.
    8) If it were not for the hair, maybe he would have done Moore Bond films.
    9) It's good if you're not expecting Moore-style flat-out comedy.

There's a good reason for this: it was too overdone in DAD. If Zhao's car hadn't been Bond's car's equal in every way, we'd probably still have gadget-cars, even in the Craig era.

Not very controversial but I agree.

Agreed she is the best with Catherine Murino of Craigs Bond girls.

I think QOS is a inspiration for future Bond movies since years.

AS IN: DON'T DO THIS AGAIN EVER.

CR had the gambling, martinis, tuxedo, etc. QoS had less of that but that was because the premise went against frivolity.

Does anybody care about Dominic Greene?!? I like how Craig indirectly killed him. That was revenge for Fields.

Revenge for killing a character that had less than 4 minutes of screentime... =)) It's Bond that should have been killed for banging a girl that was looked underage.

How else can you read it but revenge? He killed Greene the same way Greene killed Fields.

I liked Fields' little arc. She got to trip up Elvis, and more importantly she got Bond's line to M about including Fields' bravery in her report. It's a throwback to an era when the Bond women were more innocent and often victims (see: The Mastersons and Aki).

I get the feeling that sometimes people simply speak to be controversial.

They will never admit to that - unfortunately.

Hot Fuzz, along Johnny English Reborn and Cleanskin are masterpieces I can very much watch over and over again while waiting for the fun to return to Bond.

I am sure, evreybody in this right mind is crazy for the FIRST appearance of that sort of humor in Bond.

Pierce was never fat, when did this come about? I could still see his six pack through his chest hair (impressive)

He did have a six pack? *looking for surprisd smiley* You must be easily satisfied - I mean really - ther was nothing to look at even in GE. He is a nice guy though...
