Now that i saw that 'gunbarrel with coloured dots' on 'What you want to see in Skyfall?' thread, i'd want to know How or What did the directors had in mind to do something like the gunbarrel. I mean, no one would think of that, but it just combines with Bond. Anyone knows what had inspired the directors, to do the gunbarrel?

All I know is that they nearly didn't put it in DN. It was a spur of the moment idea, IIRC. And boy, did it pay off.

    EDITED - Thanks Dimi ;)

Indeed, it was a spur of the moment idea - and Maurice Binder's at that. Hail to the king!

It was a last moment idea, everyone at the time thought it was a camera lens!

I must say I find the 'origin story' of the GB in CR pure brilliance.

I also thought at the begining that it was a camera, it wasn't untill the third Bond Movie I watched I guessed that it was a gun-barrel.
I found this in the extras of my YOLT dvd, it's about Binder and all the title sequences he made and they also talk about how the gunbarrel was created

Where can I find this 'origin story'?

I think @DarthDimi means the guy in the bathroom is the originator of CR's gunbarrel.

I think its rather cool how Bond's first 'hit' is behind the gun barrel we see for all 23(?) films.

And I agree it was extremely clever. Just when the audience thinks, "Aw, man- they left out the gunbarrel", Bond picks up the gun and spins around. BLAM! Genius with a capital J.

I never thought of it like that. That makes it even cooler.
