Yes, Rog wrote in his autobiography that Van Damme, during their talks about Rog coming on board, promised equal billing. Rog said that sort of thing has never been that important to him. But, when someone gives his word, Sir Rog expects him to come through. The fact that Van Damme did not, irked Sir Rog. (NOTE: Sir Rog's autobiography was title: "My Word Is My Bond").
You are right about Grace Jones. Rog was once asked what was the most dangerous and difficult stunt he personally performed in a Bond movie: he said, being in the same bed with Grace Jones.
When I first saw The Quest, I too was startled by how much better and younger Rog looked in that movie as compared to how he looked in A View To A Kill. He also looked much better and younger when, a few years after AVTAK, he hosted, on TV, a 25 years retrospective celebration of the James Bond movies . I think I read once that Moore was ill during the filming of AVTAK. He sure looked very pale in that movie.
I haven't watched it all the way through, but I wanted to share the first time we see Roger in the movie. He is pretty hardcore! I would even go so far to say that he felt more like 'Bond' here than in his Bond movies!! And this is just the first scene he's in!! In a nutshell Roger confronts a guy over some heroin that killed a girl- and he makes him EAT it (after he shoots the bodyguard right in the middle of his damn forehead!) !!
Skip to around 9 minutes in for the part I'm talking about- what a badass!
Going to sit and watch the rest this evening
I think it's safe to say Craig is a badass.
Rog I remember in 'Diane' where he played King Henri of France against Lana Turner. Rather a stodgy film.
Seans appearance in Time Bandits as Aggememnon is a pleasure. Pierce shares a scene with Elizabeth Taylor in The Mirror Crack'd.
And Tim holds his own against Peter O'Toole, Anthony Hopkins and Katherine Hepburn in the brilliant Lion in Winter.
But not the most badass out of all the Bonds.
edit-my bad it says bond only. can you delete your own stuff?
