I was laughing towards the end too. It is the most patethique display of lack in character I have seen by any team in a long time!

It started of with Umtiti not bothering to even make an effort of catching Dzeko on the first goal, a player he could outsprint on a 60 meter with an anker tied to each leg! A nice representation of the team's focus there! Then when it finally dawned on them that this was getting serius after all, they reacted with nothing more than fear. You would have expected a team consisting of players that have won several Champions Leagues, World Cups and Euro Cups between them, would show some character and experience when needed.

And although this was easily the worst performance this season, the coach was apparently more than content as he didn't do one single attempt at changing things until 3-0 was in the bag in the 85th minute. Utterly bizarre!

I could make a fuzz about the fact that probably both Fazio and Jesus should have been sent off, but what's the point when only one team shows any motivation or willingness to reach the semies?

If only you could get Pep back as he's proven over the last two seasons he really knows his onions in the CL.

You will have to search long for anyone that is more critical of Barcelona's performances than me...

And why are you acting so though all of a sudden? It's not that long ago I recall you referred to Klopp as a buffoon. The German Mcintyre

Critical? I thought you actually worked for the Barca marketing department the amount we have to listen to your eulogising and slagging off of Real yet it's thrm who are still there with their primadonna tap in merchant up top rather than the Lionel and co.

Despite the way the second half of the season has gone I would contend the way we threw points away at the start of the season, the idiocy of not stumping up the money for VVD in the summer and not buying a keeper worthy of the name were all poor and have cost us a proper tilt at the title as clearly City haven't got the arsehole for it when you put them under pressure.

Yes we are making definite progress (finally) under Klopp but things could have been accelerated by two simple moves in the transfer market. It's not even like we saved any money by postponing buying VVD for 6 months. Although to be fair that could be our skinflint board as lest we forget all our purchases over the last 12 months are covered by the Coutinho deal so we've actually spent bugger all.

At the time I called him the German McIntyre we were a joke with clowns in defence and shipping goals for fun. Fair play he has turned it round - it doesn't mean I was wrong at the time to say that what he was serving up wasn't good enough does it?

Anyway I like your classic deflection tactic to avoid confronting the fact that Barca have just spunked a 4-1 lead up the wall and aren't actually as good as you claimed. European royalty? You're having a laugh.

Roma really went for it, by the look of the highlights. Impressive.
Too much to ask for Juve to do the same? :)

Avoid confronting? That is the first thing I did: Write a post about the result and the performance. If I wanted to avoid confrontation I could have just stayed away.

I have been doing a pr campaign on behalf of Spanish football probably, yes, as you and your fellow gang have been claiming it's irrelevant. Very ironic considering it has been dominating European football completely during the last couple of seasons. When it comes to Barcelona, the board and how the club is run, I am a stern critic however. I will though try to enjoy the likely domestic double. Afterall it is Barcelona and Pep (not that I care much about him at all, but since you stubbornly seem to believe I do, I might as well pretend) who will win silwerware this season, not the German McIntyre and your beloved mr 'Eritage. ;)

I'm tempted to say he might be on the very cusp of being world class now @001. Ice cold finish.

Pep sitting there looking absolutely clueless.

Another great exciting European Liverpool win.
To win 5-1 against Pep Oil city is so much fun, isn't it Wiz ?

Liverpool FC, the best club and fans in the world...............

Salah's goal was so super cool under pressure again as he has shown all season.
Bob's goal was a nice one too.

The ribbon wearing Ambassador for the (deeply controversial (bribes, slave labour etc.) ) Qatar WC, pepe, is a nut job.
Starts abusing the refs at ht and gets thrown into the stands. Show some class and control and composure, Ambassador.

Not many people would have bet on Liverpool and Roma going through. Get in!

I definitely would’ve bet on Liverpool, but not on Roma.

I think he genuinely believed they would turn it around, hence the projection of ambivalence after the derby. I think most if not all United and Liverpool fans knew that Saturday would hurt them way more than he could imagine. This is when the big clubs step up. City still some way off being a ‘big’ club for me.

Wouldn't it be great if they started imploding and losing matches all over the place..they still need 6 points !!

It's a bit rich to claim you have been doing PR for Spanish football given your ill concealed contempt for Real yet now you are claiming Spain has been dominating Europe for the last couple of seasons. Well it's Real not Barca who have been doing that dominating so are you actually reduced to giving Real credit for once?

As for the silverware distribution Klopp and Jose haven't not won a trophy yet and Pep has only won the league cup. 3 defeats in a week? Who knows perhaps we are talking a spectacular Keegan buster of a collapse in the next few weeks? And I think there are lots of us that would LOVE IT.

Well true it was an inept approach but I sure Southampton would have rolled over if you sling them another £10m.

In fairness they've not had any luck with the decisions. Two offsides in the first game went against them (although both marginal) and yesterday's was an horrific decision. Would it make a difference over the whole piece? Who knows but Pep needs to look closer to home before he starts blaming the ref. A keeper as shit as Karius and I can't even remember him having to make a serious save over the 180 mins. That's poor.
I can't really think of any situations that put Karius under real pressure over the two matches, other than the goal last night. Didn't see much that could have been done differently by him on that one, either. That's quite surprising given the team City fielded.

    @TheWizardOfIce

It is still no more than three years ago Barcelona won the Champions League, so I would claim they definitely contributed to the recent Spanish domination. Until last night's unfathomable collapse, (fellow spanish) Atlético and Juventus were the only teams who har managed to eliminate Barca in Europe since 2013, and on all occasions they made it ell the way to the final. (A good omen for Roma...)

And I don't know why you claim I never give Real Madrid credit for anything? They have had their fair share of luck, but that doesn't make their achievements unimpressive or unworthy of credit. Looking at their squad, it is still the most balanced and best in Europe (although only one player has the media monopoly on the spotlight whenever they win). But lets not forget it is not only them, but also Atlético (who came tragically close to winning it on two occasions) that have maintained La Ligas dominance in Europe. (Excluding the Europa League for now).

Well yes I suppose. One final appearance in 7 years constitutes contributing to domination I suppose in the same way Villa contributed to English domination in the late 70's/early 80s.

In the very next sentence!! You don't even know you're doing it. Barca never get any luck do they? Like some very generous refereeing in the PSG game last season.

Tragically close? As Sean himself once said 'Losers always go on about doing their best. Winners go home and f**k the prom queen.'

And why is it tragic? Spanish dominance continued anyway despite Atletico's defeat. Oh yeah it was despicable Real who beat them. I daresay if Real get battered in the final this year it won't leave you quite so misty eyed?
