In all the Arsenal beating Sp*rs joy, I forgot to write that Rosenborg won the Double again today – winning the cup final against Strømsgodset. This 4-1 win was one of the better games I've seen in quite a while from the team; I hope that gives some motivation for the away fixture against RB Leipzig, which will be the final fixture of 2018.

    Congratulations

oh my lord what was Pickford thinking

What did they pay for him anyway? Incredible.

That was the definition of Calamity :)) gr I have Pickford in goal he lost me points lol

Looking at the replays now. It's just incredible how he couldn't put that over the bar.
    Spurs sending off

United will get ripped apart on current form by Arsenal

I know you don't want it to happen, but I hope you're right about that prediction!

plus I am playing down Uniteds chances as much as possible, Arsenal did look good in the second half, Spurs were swatted aside

I think the game against United will be a different think entirely. Mou can play negative football for 90 minutes yet come out of a game winning. United can also terrorize the Arsenal defence with whoever they play up top.
    _____________
I guess this result deserves a drink or what, @barryt007? :D

Seriously United really are terrible right now and Jose is picking god awful line ups

But so is Arsenal's defence. I think the Arsenal defence might struggle against Martial, Rashford and/or a physical Lukaku.

You are more confident about my team than I am lol

Knowing Arsenal is knowing they are prone to make mistakes, which United knows, and Mou knows. No doubt he'll put out at team that will try to benefit from that. Which is why I think Martial starts.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6451785/Jose-Mourinho-calls-Paul-Pogba-virus-Man-United-squad.html

'You kill the mentality of the good honest people around you': Jose Mourinho 'calls Paul Pogba a virus in front of Manchester United squad'

Hopefully Jose is gone by midweek, the United board need to end this madness.

Zidane's son has claimed Zidane is returning to management very soon, I hope its United... very wishful thinking on my part.

And not a pretty one I have a feeling...

I'll pretend the season is over now :P

I'm definitely going to have my hands on the remote in case it gets ugly (which is very likely!). Can only hope Hansen have another great day in goal. Incredible he's still at Rosenborg, and not getting a monster salary somewhere abroad.

Is it the Daniel Farke effect, the Teemu Pukki effect, or both?

Oh no! He was adjusting to playing under Unai so well too!
The team will need Koscielny and Monreal back more than ever now, and it will possibly force Raul Sanllehi, Vinai Venkatesham and Sven Mislintat to do some January transfer business.

Yep,he played 16 times already this season, such bad luck.

We definitely need another CB in January now, indeed.

Don't know about Monreal, but he's been training with the team lately. Koscielny has been given minutes with the U23, and might feature on the bench tomorrow (and is likely to play midweek). As far as other options go, there's Lichtsteiner of course, who has all the routine needed. Jenkinson has played in defence in the EL – as have the youngsters Medley, Pleguezuelo and Osei-Tutu. Mavropanos is still injured I think.

Yeah, that's very likely. Don't know how the Holding injury might impact the formation; we might see Kolašinac in there too – as in the last few games. Ramsey picked up a slight knock against United too I think, and Özil have that back injury. Just hope Unai sets up the team to attack, with both Aubameyang and Lacazette up front.

I'm pretty sure he will..we have to put Huddersfield on the back step from the kick off.

Bad times. He was looking really assured in your back line. I think Liverpool will have to look to do the same, we've just lost Gomez for 6 to 8 weeks with a fractured leg, and if we don't buy we will have to play either Lovren or Matip...

Welcome to MI6 by the way, @Jordo007 ,good to have you here !

Well that's made it even harder. I must admit I've got a soft spot for Bournemouth, but I hope we give them a hiding before Napoli on Tuesday

Thank you, unlike Bond this is my first time

I suppose he will stick Matip in there, not the most reliable centre back.

Indeed. Winning these (on paper) easier matches is even more important now that a key player is out. It will be interesting to se how Unai will rotate the team now, depending on fixtures.

Massive win for Chelsea this. Don't know how to feel as an Arsenal fan (not closing in on Chelsea), but at least The Invincibles season lives on!

I had a feeling Chelsea would win and It's great to see Liverpool on top of the EPL.

Great to see Salah score a hat trick even though 1 was offside but the 2 other goals were brilliant.

Napoli will be a very tough game. I think we have to beat them 2-0 to get through.

Yeah, there's a goal difference to make up for, if I'm not mistaken. Can't remember if it was two, or just the one goal. I think there was a late goal for the opposition in the last CL game for Napoli.

Is it a 2 horse race for the Premier league already ?

  • edited December 2018 Posts: 17,819
Didn't see the match as it wasn't on TV, but really happy that Arsenal got three points against Huddersfield today. They didn't manage more than a late winner, but a win is a win. I only read a text update, but apparently Huddersfield got away with a lot of time wasting, and there were a lot of bookings for the Arsenal players. Oh well.

Torreira must feel quite pleased with that goal. It was certainly a nice one! :-D

As in City and Liverpool? Definitely. Arsenal are still bad defensively (these things take time), and there's a lot of injuries and now suspensions too. Chelsea had a massive win tonight, and Sp*rs still wins – Kane or no Kane… But these two teams don't have the squad depth of City and Liverpool.

December is always unpredictable though, with all the fixtures to play for each team. It will be interesting to see the league table at the start of January, that's for sure.

You’ll also see a change in the new year on towards the end of the season.
City have a big GD, and they’ll be plenty more reshuffling at the top.
At least there’s some excitement and movement. Still anyone’s at present.
    It’s a funny old game
