It is, and also important as far as resuming the season goes.

After all this time, who cares about the season.

OK, tv companies may want it finished, but only if the punters care. The players won’t be fit, skills rusty, no crowds, so games will be stilted and dull - like watching training pre-season training games.

On top of that, the games are to be played from mid June to mid July - the hottest part of the year. I suppose there will be some morbid curiosity in watching these unfit players huffing and puffing in the heat of an empty stadium. Confess I can’t wait to see what shape Rooney is in

Just give up, and start again in August.

I don't disagree with this, but it looks like the English FA is set on going through with it. Looking at how the Bundesliga games have been so far after they started playing again, there's not really a huge drop in quality – it's only the lack of fans that's very apparent.

The opening game of the Euro 2020 tournament was originally due to be played today.

I have the whole tournament written out in my diary, in another reality I would have been starting two weeks annual leave today.

Lisbon looks the favourite to host the final stages of the 2019/20 Champions League. The Portuguese capital is understood to be in contention to stage a condensed version of the tournament from the last eight onwards, with all ties to be played as single legs. UEFA is understood to be targeting a mid-October start for the group stages of the 2020-21 Champions League.

Will the rest of the team continue training as normal? Hope the player recovers quickly.

    Champions League is officially back.

    Remaining last-16 games on August 7-8; quarter-finals: August 12-15; semi-finals: August 18-19; final: August 23

It will be fun, but also a bit strange having CL back again.

Brutal night of football for Arsenal. Expected result, but also two injuries in less than twenty minutes and a red card on top of that. Don't think they'll stand any chance climbing the table from their ninth place.

Another brutal result for Arsenal, as Brighton gets a late winner. With Leno out with what looks to be a long-term injury, the season is already a write-off (as if it wasn't already). Arsenal are lucky to be this far into the season, or they might have been serious trouble.

But this doesn't look good for the long term of the club either. Really worrying signs for a team that's far from what they should be. Rebuild needed – but that won't happen, of course.

Been asleep so missed today's games, perhaps Arsenal are feeling the reality of so much time off with little time to train and prepare. I expect other teams to suffer injuries.

There will be more injuries than usual, that's for sure. But Arsenal have been very unlucky. As we saw today, those players were missed too.

From bad to worse. Just finished watching Rosenborg playing their rivals Molde – losing 1-0. I don't think I've ever seen a Rosenborg team so planless as this, and it's just a continuation of how they played last season.

Arsenal will soon be playing the youth team the way these injuries pops up! Arsenal already have Torreira, Papastathopoulos, Marí, Xhaka, Cédric Soares, Chambers and Leno out with injuries…

That's an already weak defence decimated, though some of the youth team that played in the Cups may surprise though admittedly its a lot of pressure.

Incredibly, Arsenal managed a win tonight. Holding had a good game, as did Martinez and Nketiah. Still several tricky fixtures left, so I'm not optimistic.
Liverpool are the Premier League champions!

Congratulations to Liverpool fans. It's impressive what Klopp has managed to do with that club.

Well this was a surprise! Do anyone more familiar with FC Groningen know if this was expected to happen, or did the news drop out of the blue?
