Yeah. although, Arsenal seem to be finding a late gear.
If only they can keep it up and build from that equaliser!
Indeed.
That's the word. Wow!!!!!!....but I noticed Arsenal started picking up.
And it was a good thing they did, because I feared a beating after that Chelsea goal!
Honestly. Jesus! Like Klopp and Pep, Arteta reads games quickly. I think Arsenal as usual, were better with the passing. Chelsea were always looking for quick breaks....but Arsenal were skillfully passing the Ball around with more intent. It wasn't an easy game, but Arsenal did it at the end.
Arsenal were Really shaky at the start of the game, which could have been it, had Chelsea got to more chances. Fortunately, Arsenal grew into the game, and that penalty had a massive impact for the team I think. Not just for getting it to 1-1, but things just worked out better as a whole afterwards.
What can we take from this game though? I think it highlighted the importance of keeping Aubameyang (where can they even get a decent replacement the way the transfer window might be now?), the defensive fragility is still very much there and needs to be addressed; at the same time, Arsenal now have two goalkeepers that both deserve playing time. But will any of them accept being second choice…?
Yeah, Arsenal grew into the game.
Sure, Aubameyang is super-important to keep. Yeah, Arteta would surely look into solving the defensive problems by buying, coz the problem is still very much there.
Yeah, I honestly think at the moment, Martinez might just have dethroned Leno. I mean, there's a steely confidence about his play. I think Leno himself knows Martinez has to be injured, before he can get back in. But I honestly don't want Martinez injured....he's been patient enough, this could be his chance.
I really hope Saliba will be part of solving those defensive issues, but he's young and we haven't even seen him play for Arsenal yet. He's already been training with the club a few weeks, so hopefully it won't take long for him to settle.
Given the season both goalkeepers have had, you'd feel bad for any of them getting benched (along with Auba, they're up there as players of the season at the club). But as you write, Martinez has shown proper confidence in these games, and you need a bit of confidence in defence given the issues the club has there already. It will depend on which qualities Arteta values the highest for his project.
Yeah, very much so.
That second goal was another great one by auba.
He has got magic feet.
Barca might be after him now because of the average season by Griezmann ?????
Griezmann to arsenal ?????
I fear he might be off, unfortunately. It depends on how much he likes life in London (and what Arsenal can offer him).
As for Griezmann, I don't know if he's the type of striker Arsenal need? He's friends with Lacazette of course, so they would have no trouble forming a partnership like him and Aubameyang has.
I've seen that photo online, though I've also seen clips and images where he's on the line when catching it…
Wouldn't be a penalty it would be a free kick.
Next time, the advantage might swing Chelsea's way!
If he leaves, it will depend on the replacement. I doubt they can get a like for like replacement for whatever they can sell him for – so they need to be creative; either spend that money elsewhere on the pitch (midfield and defence is a priority), and/or get a striker that can thrive in that team, but who's not yet up there amongst the elite. Odsonne Edouard has been mentioned a lot, but I don't know how good he is.
Yeah, it was just Arsenal's day.
Yeah, they need to spend wisely. And I hear Edouard is good....then again, I don't know how good. But one would expect an intelligent coach like Arteta, to know exactly what he wants.
The fact it was deemed to not be a red card offence was why it didn't go to VAR, it wasn't (if it was outside the box) deliberate hand ball, so it would have been a yellow card.
Not in this instance. He clearly didn't deliberately handball (if he indeed did), which is not a red card offence.

Yes, I imagine Arteta have been very clear with the hierarchy about what he wants and needs. Now it's up to them to back him!
Exactly!!! He has played his mighty part with an almost average team....he simply needs backing now.
Indeed. At least with EL to look forward too, they might have a few more likely scenarios to explore than without it.
True.

I guess, if Arsenal can add quality players to the squad, Aubameyang would stay...easily!
Some big names here! I do wonder though, how many players Arsenal are realistically able to bring in this summer; unless he signs a new deal at Chelsea, I imagine Willian is a possibility – Coutinho too, depending on the wages. Thomas Partey looks to be the main target.
Yeah, Agreed! Willian and Coutinho are looking like possible signings and Yes! Partey is definitely the most talked about.
