Of course, I want Aubameyang to stay. But this is the first time I won't feel too much panic, if our best player ends up leaving...because we now have a Coach who knows what he's doing and has a direction. And for the first time in a long while, Arsenal now have some dangerously talented youngsters who have entered the first team straight away, a good goalkeeper has suddenly emerged and Arsenal are on the cusp of rebuilding and adding to the squad. Of course, I want Aubameyang....but if he leaves, it won't be all that bad.

If he leaves, it will depend on the replacement. I doubt they can get a like for like replacement for whatever they can sell him for – so they need to be creative; either spend that money elsewhere on the pitch (midfield and defence is a priority), and/or get a striker that can thrive in that team, but who's not yet up there amongst the elite. Odsonne Edouard has been mentioned a lot, but I don't know how good he is.

Yeah, it was just Arsenal's day.

Yeah, they need to spend wisely. And I hear Edouard is good....then again, I don't know how good. But one would expect an intelligent coach like Arteta, to know exactly what he wants.

Yes, I imagine Arteta have been very clear with the hierarchy about what he wants and needs. Now it's up to them to back him!

Exactly!!! He has played his mighty part with an almost average team....he simply needs backing now.

Indeed. At least with EL to look forward too, they might have a few more likely scenarios to explore than without it.

    True.

I guess, if Arsenal can add quality players to the squad, Aubameyang would stay...easily!

Some big names here! I do wonder though, how many players Arsenal are realistically able to bring in this summer; unless he signs a new deal at Chelsea, I imagine Willian is a possibility – Coutinho too, depending on the wages. Thomas Partey looks to be the main target.

Yeah, Agreed! Willian and Coutinho are looking like possible signings and Yes! Partey is definitely the most talked about.

I hope they have some cheaper alternatives lined up though, because signing Willian and Coutinho (on loan) won't be cheap – especially if they manage to get a deal done for Partey.

Indeed. Just getting those wages off their expenses must be great for United.

€15 million (£13.5m) must be an alright deal, I guess?

The wages were the issue for sure, it caused issues in the dressing room and he clearly was not earning it with performances. Good luck to him at Inter though we bought him when he was clearly on the decline

Congrats to Arsenal winning the Cup I had a feeling they would beat Chelsea

There were apparently issues in the Arsenal dressing room too with Sanchez, but those were more attitude related. Although Arsenal have missed his qualities on the pitch, it looks like the mood in the squad improved after he left. Hope he does alright at Inter though.

I certainly didn't have that feeling on Saturday! I feared another Baku type of final.

Arteta certainly appears to be having a positive effect and is currently doing the most important thing that is developing a team ethic, though as you well know that will take Arsenal only so far there has to be good recruitment.

Good player apparently Jose was after him two years ago when at United which I would have welcomed. Based on his performances recently he has still got it, I presume Lampard dropped him because of contract issues.

Yeah, true....contracts issues and the arrival of Ziyech and Werner meant he was superfluous, even if he's still a very good player.

Arteta has maximised the potential with the current squad already IMO, so all will come down to the recruitment. I don't trust they will, but it's time for them to prove fans and critics wrong. Having got that FA Cup trophy in the bag, Arteta can surely be more demanding towards the club about what he needs.

I don't like how Arsenal seem to be so reliant on Kia Joorabchian these days, and I'm sceptical about the wages Willian is likely to get (where are they going to take that from?), but as a signing, they could do a lot worse. I think Willian ticks a few of those boxes which is lacking in that squad, and I think he'll be a decent guy to have around until the likes of Joe Willock, Emile Smith Rowe etc. gain more experience.

With "The Ornacle", David Ornstein also commenting on the matter, it's looking very likely to happen now:

Yeah, @Torgeirtrap. Willian's inclusion would be very good....until the youngsters become very cohesive. And I still consider Willian to be a massive threat going forward. And his inclusion would also give Arteta more time to draft up plans for further signings of longer-term targets in the coming windows.

I really don't know about smalling. I think his frequent mistakes in defensive situations, is the main reason Man U lost faith in him....which is understandable.

Smalling is not great at coming out with the ball that's for sure, I guess its how your defence is set up, I recall Arsenal being linked with him previously. I would imagine Arteta will want to play more expansive football going forward.

Credit to Ole in that he is building with youth and Sanchez leaving signals the end of buying over priced so called world class players who are past there best. Rashford, Martial, Sancho, Greenwood, Pogba and Fernandez the best attackers we have had since Fergie.

There's a gap in the age groups at the club now it seems, several youngsters in and around 20 years of age, and players closer to and above 30. If those younger players manage to establish themselves, Arsenal might have a nice squad in a few years or so, age wise.

They have plenty of challenges though: Who are they able to bring in, which players do they keep or sell (or loan out for that matter), what do they do re. the Özil situation, the Guendouzi situation, the contract situation for Aubameyang and Lacazette, etc. I wonder how much of this they're able to sort out over the summer…
