Man United won tonight thankfully, Herrera needs to start more often Carrick looked good, Rashford is our Owen (Young Owen) and Rooney is burnt out.
What a greedy, bloody idiot, and well done the F.A for showing some balls.
The FA did the right thing getting rid of him. They acted quickly and didn't drag it out.
I second that !!
TBH though, with the exception of Italia '90 and Euro '96,and Le Tournoi which we won in 1998,its been pain all the way in my lifetime,so far,so i kind of accept it now.
I would say though, that as much as I'm not being serious, Pearson does have enough attitude for an international boss.
It simply has to be Eddie Howe and the FA have to state that it doesn't even matter if we don't qualify for the next World Cup - he will be there at least until Qatar.
I would certainly take Howe with Wenger in a director of football role to assist.
We simply have to move on from 'old school' (ie uninspiring, limited and probably as dodgy as Sam) candidates and make a clear statement that this is year zero.
The Bruces, Pardews and, god forbid, Redknapps of the world would see us repeating the same old mistakes once again and thus repeat the same results of chronic failure.
All of these candidates are bottom of the barrel options. If there was an outstanding candidate then fine but as there isn't why take a punt on one of these who are all rooted in the past when you can take the same punt on Howe and look to the future at the same time?
This really has to be a cleansing of the Augean stables moment where English football looks forwards rather than cling to the past.
Enough of bumbling along by appointing one journeyman after another what have we got to lose by going for youthful vigour in Howe?
The only problem is he'd be mad to accept it.
However, as the wizard mentioned above, he may be mad to accept it, it is a poisoned chalice and the media, as has been proved time and time and time again, will make it as difficult as possible.
How many of the prospective candidates above will be left in the frame when those names come out?
We can be 100% sure Harry is one of them. Pardew has a chance and Bruce doesn't seem that dodgy but he is of the old school so probably has had a little dabble here and there.
This is why it has to be Howe. Everyone from the previous generation, guilty or not, is going to be tainted by association.
Although to be fair to Woy despite the myriad of criticisms you can level at his hapless tenure the one thing you always felt was that he was a fundamentally decent and honest man trying to do his best. It's just his best was an absolute shambles.
I can't imagine Steve Bruce being one of them, the man is a proper gent.
He doesn't have the 'intellectual' sheen of a Wenger or a Pep, he was a player before the ridiculous money came into the game, he manages in the championship/bottom half of the prem and he's from the North.
I'm afraid he fits the bill just as much as a 70s children's TV presenter does for Yewtree.
Warnock another one who is shitting it. I'm surprised him and Harry haven't legged it to Marbella already to be honest.
Allegedly a seven figure sum is his severance pay, it's difficult to take any of this seriously.
Only in football could you be effectively sacked for gross misconduct yet still cop for a massive payout.
At least now he is free to go about his business advising dodgy f**kers how to swerve FA rules.
A little bit harsh my friend. Bruce is a nice chap.
I take it the Telegraph are going to announce them one by one after the FA appoint them.
Maybe they'll release their identities one by one on YouTube like Silva in Skyfall.
I'll assume there's something of a Hull bias there, but of course I'm not saying Steve Bruce is dodgy (except for the ease with which his teams hand points to Man Utd), but he is certainly in the at risk group perception wise of old school managers who are all likely to be under suspicion if the Telegraph's allegations prove as explosive as they are suggesting they will be.
Anyway apart from anything else has it really come to this? Steve f**king Bruce for England manager? I know we're at a low ebb but really.
At least Howe gives you hope that he might turn out to be brilliant. Bruce has been around long enough for us to know that he is merely a bog average journeyman.
