Same here. The Twilight Saga is one big boring mating ritual and only causes more teenager mums.
But I think it is safe to say that Bond skews towards an older audience in the States and Twilight skews younger, hence the box office numbers. Shame, really.
It should be on $250m North America by the next weekend - $300m is locked.

But that's logical really. The fact is....'Skyfall' can profit from a 'first normal opening weekend' and then two weeks later a 'second Thanksgiving weekend'. I reckon this Thanksgiving weekend the gross for 'Skyfall' is only $8.5 million lower than last weekend. Even more so, this Wednesday is more succesful than last Wednesday.
'Rise Of The Guardians' should have been the typical Thanksgiving animated movie that could have moved 'Skyfall' to 3rd spot. But that's not happening. Also 'Red Dawn' is quite a 'Thanksgiving failure' so far, because 'Skyfall' as an action movie is just miles better than 'Red Dawn'.
I also think for 'Thanksgiving' there's an overkill of animated movies now. Families can now choose between 'Rise Of The Guardians, 'Paranorman', 'Wreck It Ralph', 'Frankenweenie' and 'Wreck-It Ralph'. Just too many of the same; these animated movies are eating each others gross.
Back in 2006 and 2008, when 'Casino Royale' and 'Quantum Of Solace' premiered, there was only one big animated movie competing: 'Happy Feet' and 'Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa'.
Conclusion: 'Skyfall' is maintaining its 2nd spot more firmly than its two predecessors 'Casino Royale' and 'Quantum'. Moreover, I never saw 'Twilight' as a big threat for 'Skyfall'.

If we take into account, that QOS brought 20 m to Australiua, Japan and China each and then just double it, which is likely, we have an additional 120 m from there or make it a meager 100 m, that would bring us as of sunday to around 8oo something. So - if the rest of the world doesn't completely stop to watch this movie, it has every chance to go over 900 million IMO.
The inflation calculator website is the best bet:
http://www.usinflationcalculator.com/
Get the figures from Box Office Mojo, then input them.
Internationally I would think Skyfall would be top of the tree.
Dammit! Usually on the actual Thanksgiving Day families eat turkeys instead of going out to the cinema. This usually results in a higher gross the day before Thanksgiving than the actual Thanksgiving. That's the reason we see these figures and why 'Twilight' falls deeper:
Skyfall:
$07,450,000 --> Wednesday
$07,675,000 --> Thursday, Thanksgiving (+3% from Wednesday)
Twilight: Breaking Down Part 2:
$12,800,000 --> Wednesday
$08,050,000 --> Thursday, Thanksgiving (-37.1% from Wednesday)
These are estimates, so let's wait for the final gross on Thanksgiving. Because 'Skyfall' almost retook 1st spot! Or....it can still just narrowly end on 1st spot for Thanksgiving Day 2012! Amazing :-D.
An excellent result for SKYFALL on THURSDAY
Whats more is that SF actually has a higher screen average than Twilight!
screen average - Twilight = $1,978 per screen
Skyfall = $2,177 per screen
Lets hope that SF can reclaim the number 1 spot over the weekend or at least give the Twilight film a run for its money!
It has a higher screen average because it playing at 500 plus less theartes then Twilight but it is still impressive because it is in it's 3rd weekend.
yes thats true. But doesn't that mean that it is in fact doing better business per screen...
just like a film playing on 6 screens with an average of $26,000 for example.
Even though Twilights screen count is higher than Skyfalls its actually making more money per screen...which is impressive given that SF is in its 3rd weekend and Twilight is only in its 2nd...
