[quote="Gustav_Graves-). By the way....what do you think of Barbara Brocollo Germanlady? I kind of admire her....[/quote]

I think, she is a Lady with guts and style, who seems down to earth and quite nice from her interviews. If you watch her, you can see, that she is still very passionate about Bond and willing to give it her all to make the films successful - even at the risk of failing.

Hardly a shock almost every box office follower predicted Skyfall would be no1 on Friday and this weekend based on there being no big releases this weekend.

That's one of the things that I admire about her - rather than copying DAD over and over (let's not forget what a huge box office success it was) EOn took a *radically* different tack with CR, with a counter-intuitive casting choice. And it paid off brilliantly.

Of course, some posters here (who I don't think think are active anymore) criticize her for being egotistical for trying to make films "above her station". Really? Wanting to make a Bond film that is both popular *and* good is a bad thing? I find it interesting that that criticism is directed towards her but the people who said that never criticized MGW.

From what I've seen of her in interviews, and from what I've read she seems to be both a talented producer and still quite down-to-earth. It will be interested to see what happens to the franchise with the next producers - surely Bond will be around at least that long! ;-)

Be happy it has gone THIS far. Over 800 mill is a hell of an accomplishment.
Yes, i'm happy, tho i'd wanted to make it still grow up like it was in the first weeks.

$5.5 mil in first two days should be over $10 mil by sunday in Japan.
  • Don't forget, for similar reasons 'The Dark Knight' did not premiere at all in China in 2008. Many aspects of the movie are about the Chinese criminal underground mafia. And suddenly Batman arrives there to 'kick some ass' and fight those Chinese baddies. Chinese government did not like that. Result: Scrapped from the list.

Skyfall has more : yes, it has the Chinese mafia, described as raping Severine, using Shanghai has a place where foreigners can do their illegal trades, etc. But it has also Silva describing how the Chinese *officials* tortured him, and M somehow explaining that was a part of the deal to have a "smooth" transition in the HK change of status. It is very unlikely this part of the plot will be left as it is - torture is a very touchy subject there - , when the film is released in China, if ever it is (China will probably never announce they censor it officially, whether totally or partially).

I believe, it won't make any more then 40 or 50 mill in China, which IMO will lead to being short about 30 mill of the billion.

The film has now bagged itself over $876 million.
  • Hmmm, it's not earning as fast it was.

Will we still reach a billion? I think there's a good chance, it's in the cinema for a bit longer yet.

I think it's safe to safe that Bond 24 is definitely greenlit! The franchise is safe! Jason Bourne/Aaron Cross, Ethan Hunt you took a helluva beating!

As Cross should have - 'The Bourne Legacy' was terrible.

I wouldn't say Mission Impossible 4 got beat. The film made a hell of a great intake and was enjoyable with action Bond should take notes on. As for Legacy, well...let's just say it got what it deserved.

Mission Impossible was alright but nothing special. It was fun though and it had some great action and funny moments.

I was one of the few people who enjoyed Legacy. Not the best Bourne film but I wouldn't call it terrible at all. It was just average.
  • Another pretty good jump, considering how long it has been in the cinemas--the present worldwide cum, according to Boxoffice Mojo: $918,220,000

Another $33 million internationally, great news. We're on track for $950 million before China's opening.

Another update of the 'Spy/Action Movies-list'. As of December 9th 2012, 'Skyfall' has grossed worldwide more than $900 MILLION. 'Skyfall' keeps doing very well in the USA and is certain of doing at least $100 million better than the previous Bond flick 'Quantum Of Solace'.

More importantly, 'Skyfall' broke the foreign record in the spy/action genre. As of today it has now officially passed 'The Dark Knight Rises', which grossed $633 million in the foreign market. 'Skyfall' now stands at almost $656,600,000 million.

Note for the reader: Take in mind that for, more or less, accurate comparisons, most of the below action/spy movies are produced in 1987 or later. Actually, most of them were produced after the 1990's.

Furthermore, I have updated the list in such a way now, so that you can also use it as a 'watchlist'. Movies with a '▪' are part of a spy/actionhero movie franchise. Movies with a '▫' are rebooted movies or remakes. Movies with a '∞' are based on previous tv-series.

BOX OFFICE: SKYFALL Passes SPIDER-MAN 3 To Become Sony's Highest-Grossing Film Ever
Sam Mendes' Skyfall continues its monster box office run, as the 23rd James Bond has officially become Sony's biggest film at the worldwide box office, beating Spider-Man 3. The film has also passed The Dark Knight Rises internationally...
No one saw this coming, that's for sure. According to the latest report, the Sam Mendes-directed 23rd James Bond film has passed Spider-Man 3 at the global box office, and it is officially Sony Pictures' highest-grossing film ever. That is quite amazing. Skyfall still needs to open in China, one of the biggest international markets today. If the film breaks out there, $1 billion should happen, which would make Skyfall the first James Bond film grossing $1 billion at the box office.
Skyfall was back on top this weekend at the domestic box office, beating The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, and the film has also passed Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises at the international box office with $656.6 million.

I still want us to take down The Dark Knight Rises for the third biggest film of the year. That's the real icing on the cake.

Sam Mendes’ Skyfall continues its unstoppable box office run, as the 23rd James Bond has officially become Sony’s biggest film at the worldwide box office, beating Spider-Man 3. The film has also passed The Dark Knight Rises internationally.

Sony, MGM and Eon’s James Bond hit added $20.3m internationally to reach $656.6m, and a number one North American haul of $11m for $261.6m to overtake Sony’s previous best of $890m set by Spider-Man 3.
