Bond hasn't had to rely on inflated 3D prices either unlike Potter or the Avengers.

So, this $77m figure being thrown around - is this good?

Very good indeed, a great start. We've well on our way to the biggest Bond, no worries.

It's number one in all 25 countries in which it opened. It smashed the all-time Saturday attendance record and is the biggest opening of 2012 and the 2nd biggest Friday-to-Sunday opening weekend in history in the UK. This launch was 76% bigger than Daniel Craig’s first turn as 007, Casino Royale, and 30% bigger than Quantum Of Solace.

That's excellent news, @Samuel001. I haven't posted any "official" opinion on the film yet (it would just get drowned) but I'll say that a Bond film of such high calibre deserves to do well. It was undoubtedly fantastic!

I understand your point. Right now, it is so loved, there's little point of me adding to it, I feel. :)

I was surprised when my showing on Friday at 18H30 was only about half full...i am wondering if the film opening on Friday had anything to do with this as films here usually open on Wednesdays...

But then again: Russia brought in $8.6 million, 58 percent up (!) on 'Quantum Of Solace'. And it even made a significant dent in smaller European territories like Norway ($2.7 million), Sweden ($2.6 million), Denmark ($2.6 million), Poland ($2.5 million) and Finland ($1.5 million).
  • These are very positive results coming in from various countries. i am though very dissapointed that here in France SF has not increased its box office performance in the opening weekend over QOS. We will have to wait to see if it can over take QOS in the next few weeks.

I am pretty certain it will. 'Skyfall' has got the potential of creating more buzz among cinema visitors than 'Quantum Of Solace'.

Remember, QOS had a better opening than CR in the USA. But QOS' figures went down faster than CR's. For the very simply reason: QOS wasn't that liked compared to CR.

I am pretty certain 'Skyfall' can keep people coming to the cinema better than its two predecessors.

I am bit worried that Hurricane Sandy might stop SF in its tracks. If the whole eastern seaboard is hit and people have bigger things to worry about than going to the cinema then what sort of a dent is this going to put in the figures?

When does it open stateside again? This weekend? If it NY gets hit as bad as New Orleans with Katrina then SFs hopes of getting up into TDKR territory will be stillborn.

In all fairness - that is a little cynical. I am foremost worried about the (hopefully few) victims of that storm! Anything else (talk about how this affects SF, the presidential election or local burger sales) is inappropriate, IMO. I don't want to start a fight, just sayin'

I live in NC, and we're not worried about the storm. Plus, Sandy is nowhere near the power of Katrina.

No worries. The only fatalities will be those that could have been avoided, unfortunately. But that's how things go. It won't be bad at all, likely no fatalities.

People are just prepping and playing it safe. AKA intelligence.

I hope so. They make it sound, like its gonna be awful. Suppose the main force will e this eve, right? By tomorrow we might know more.

Nov. 9 - so not this weekend, but next weekend... the storm shall be well over by then, and everything will be alright and back to normal.

Here in Norway, Skyfall got the second most popular opening weekend in the country.
So far, a total of 165.000 people have seen Skyfall (one of them was me :D )

  • I really hope Skyfall smashes the Box Office throughout Europe this week, as well...

Let's not forget that it's opening this week in other European/Latin America countries, and for most of these countries it will be a veeeeeery long weekend due to All Saints' Day festivities (From Thursday to Sunday).

I'll take it. Skyfall won't get anywhere near $900 million worldwide.
