    Please stop this insanity........you know it makes sense

    If it can bring sunshine and happiness to your life, then be it, Skyfall doesn't beat Thunderball.

    Thanks Max....but i dont need that fact to make me happy!

    Don't forget that little country Netherlands ;-). The box office gross of 'Skyfall' in The Netherlands currently stands at $25,049,955. This amount ranks 9th behind the following countries (Figures are from BoxOfficeMojo.com, so the real figures could be different, but not that much. The Chinese box office figure is from Entgroup.cn):

    01 --> $302,044,126: USA
    02 --> $161,778,224: UK
    03 --> $084,945,572: Germany
    04 --> $060,069,449: France
    05 --> $049,882,229: Australia
    06 --> $044,700,000: China
    07 --> $032,199,327: Japan
    08 --> $025,241,686: Russia
    09 --> $025,049,955: THE NETHERLANDS
    10 --> $017,862,662: Sweden
    11 --> $017,103,042: Italy
    12 --> $016,050,743: South Korea

    But most importantly, 'Skyfall' is now officially the most visited film after the 1997 2D blockbuster 'Titanic', according to Sony Pictures Netherlands. In just three months, more than 2.2 million Dutch visitors went to the cinema to see the 2rd James Bond film. http://www.nu.nl/film/3015242/skyfall-best-bezochte-film-in-nederland-sinds-2000.html

    Looking at box office figures, 'Skyfall' is already the most popular film ever in The Netherlands, beating blockbusters like 'Titanic', 'Avatar' and 'Harry Potter': http://www.filmdistributeurs.nl/files/Top_1000_all_by_GBO_1991-2011.pdf

    I'd say, a tiny country like The Netherlands deserves some location scouting for Bond 24 no ;-)?

    Nearly as much as Russia that is impressive considering population difference lol.

    $30 million more is just too much. Oh well.

    Unfortunately in China hollywood movies only have 4 weeks in cinema so first week or so is incredibly front loaded normally. Looks to finish with about $60 to $65 mil disappointing if true.

    By Thursday the figures were thought to be around $1,090 million, so could it have really only taken $3 million over the weekend?

    Of course the final US take is yet to be added so that's another $1 million right there.

    By @mepal1 on the previous page. $45 million by Thursday, that should mean weekend grosses are still to be added.

    I think we will have to wait until we see next official BO update from China, to get a clearer picture.............anyway 'SF' still set to pass $1.1 bil in not too distant future.

    You're kidding no??? Disappointing figures from China? It's wayyy better than 'The Dark Knight Rises' did in China already! Ooowh gosh, gonna make a new list again now :P.

    By mid next week maybe certainly by friday coming.

    No it's not and Dark knight rises did about $58 mil in China and had to compete for screens with spiderman. Bond has been big for a while in China QoS did $20 mil back in 2008 when the market was 4 times smaller superheros bar TA have never been huge in China.

    Another update of the 'Spy/Action Movies-list'. And as of February 3rd 2013 'Skyfall' has managed to take over the number one spot from Christopher Nolan's 'The Dark Knight Rises'.

    For this new milestone we most likely have to thank China. Last week, 'Skyfall' made an incredible $34.4 Million. This week another $15.0 Million was added, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. The cumulative Chinese gross now stands at approximately $49.4 Million.

    It is incorrect to say 'Skyfall' will only be in cinema's for four or five weeks ( @htall90 ;-) ). Another action packed blockbuster, 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol', opened in China on January 28th 2012 and closed about late March. At March 25th 'Ghost Protocol' stood at $101,232,739. It's too early to say 'Skyfall' will manage to beat that figure, but the $90 Million is still possible.

    For now, 'Skyfall' is ready to beat the China box office gross from 'The Dark Knight Rises', which stands at $52.8 Million. Remember, today's update is based on estimates.

    Note for the reader: Take in mind that for, more or less, accurate comparisons, most of the below action/spy movies are produced in 1987 or later. Actually, most of them were produced after the 1990's. All movies in this list are 2D movies!

    Furthermore, I have updated the list in such a way now, so that you can also use it as a 'watchlist'. Movies with a '▪' are part of a spy/actionhero movie franchise. Movies with a '▫' are rebooted movies or remakes. Movies with a '∞' are based on previous tv-series.

    One spot higher for 'Skyfall' on the 'All Time Box Office'-list from BoxOfficeMojo.com compared to last week. James Bond 23 now managed to grab 'The Dark Knight Rises' 7th place. Next stops are ''Transformers: Dark Of The Moon' (2011) and 'The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King' (2003). As long as the 'Skyfall-craze' continues in China, the 5th spot is still in reach.

    The standings of the 'All Time Box Office'-list are now:
    01) $2,782.3 -- 'Avatar' (2009)
    02) $2,185.4 -- 'Titanic' (1998) *2D*
    03) $1,511.8 -- 'Marvel's The Avengers' (2012)

    Well just been doing some checking, and it appears the international gross does include this weekend in China:-

    figures given:-

    SF int total $791.5 mil

    film made $6.7 mil in Int markets this weekend, of which $6.1 mil was from China (seems to of made less than i expected for this weekend which may explain why we thought overall total for end of this weekend should of been higher!).

    Anyway China total for 'SF' is now $50.4 mil

    That's it then. No way we can get $30 million now. There's always next time.

    MI:4 was an exception i thought Life of Pi made $90 mil in China and they pulled it out after 4 weeks so i was thinking the same for Skyfall see.

    Yes $6.1 mil in its 2nd weekend in China doesnt seem that good, suggesting film will fizzle out there soon...........but over $50 mil is not bad...and it looks like 'SF' could finish around $60 mil in China...do you agree?

    It's just not true. 'The Dark Knight Rises' premiered in China on August 27th. It went out of cinema's around October 17th if I'm not mistaken. That's almost 8 weeks. And after that run 'TDKR' stood at $52.8 Million in China.

    'Skyfall' is already pulverizing that amount of money in less than 3 weeks.

    We can be sure to see 800 mill intern and 1.1 bill total. Surely a lot of reasons to be happy. But we got used to these numbers and forget, how we never thought it was possible.
    For me, getting over 1 billion and catching up with Batman was the big deal here. not so much about the other Bonds of the past.

    I still want to beat Transformers. Who cares about Batman.

    Second highest grossing film of 2012 isn't bad either. :)

    Now The Hobbit just needs $50 million from China for it's $1 billion.
