Introduction

Wouldn't it be nice if we could be part of Bond's world? Wouldn't it be nice if we could sleep in the same hotels, visit the same places, fight the same villains, bed the same girls,... ? Let's say we start with one at the time.

This thread is designed with the purpose of making one choice in each category. If you could share one car, hotel, drink, ... with Bond, which one would it be?

I would choose the hotel we see at the beginning of OHMSS. I simply love the idea of having a bed on the balcony outside of the actual room. Also, I love the design with the arcs and the curves and whatnot. Now granted, Piz Gloria looks fine as well, but I'm simply not the skiing type. ;-)

    My top 5 choices:

OHMSS

The Ice Palace (yes!) from DAD

Hotel Splendid (CR)

the Whyte House (DAF)

    and

Bond's hotel from DN

I have a thing for exotic locations. ;-)

    The Ice palace.

With Frost or Jinx, or both ;)

My first thoughts would be the one in Octopussy, can't remember the name but it's still there by all accounts

The Ice Palace would have to be included too maybe, what a unique structure that was

The OHMSS hotel for sure. Sleeping outside on that bed? Wow.

And the Atlantic Hotel from TND...there's something about it that I really like

    I'd like ice Palace.
  • I stayed at the Hotel Tropicana in Vegas last time I was there. I heard it was quite comfortable, and back in 1971 it might have been. Not a bad place, but not great either.

    I'd like with Frost.
    It's frozen palace.

I'd love to stay in the Ocean Club from CR in Nassau. I would open the doors when the nice breeze rolls in at night, and just relax in tune with the sweet sounds of the lapping ocean. Paradise...

Ocean club hotel in the Bahamas (CR)

    Honourable mentions go to
    OHMSS (just after the TS)
TB (right next door to Fiona)
FRWL (the bridal suite with Tatiana and her "big" mouth. My size of course)
LTK (not really a hotel but Sanchez' manshion was incredible!)

Goooood thread idea, Dimmster - and awesome opening gambit.

Here's my top five (in reverse order because I find that more fun ;) ):

    5. The Cuban beach hut ~ GE

I'm assuming this hut that Bond shares with Natalya - and the short of stretch of beach they lay about on - is part of a hotel development; I hope so anyway because what a luxuriant, but stripped back, get-away-from-it-all holiday destination it would be.

    4. The Miami Beach hotel ~ GF

Marvellous Mid-Century Modern design throughout, but mostly because of that viewing-the-swimming-pool-underwater-through-glass gimmick - unlike Felix, I'd probably spend all day down there. ;)

    3. The French Riviera hotel ~ OHMSS

The one in which Bond and Tracy rendezvous after the pre-title sequence. Its style may be a little gaudy, but it's cool as hell (that 'Casino' neon lighting up the pool's irresistible), as well as the opportunity to seduce a girl on a bed on your room's balcony. For some odd reason.

    2. The swanky hotel in Rio ~ MR

Seriously, who wouldn't want to stay here? And in the Presidential Suite, of course, being it's so big you need a cab to get around it when you get lost. Moreover, if Manuela came as an optional extra I'd probably never make it to the carnival at all.

    1. Piz Goria ~ OHMSS

Because, well, you would, wouldn't you? Waking up to that amazing, stark and snowy landscape outside the window, eating in front of the roaring fire at sunlight and walking around a place so achingly '60s-cool it'd have to make you feel like Terence Stamp; it's a no-brainer. Especially if - again - the Angels Of Death were in attendance...

I'd be quite content spending a night in that old barn in OHMSS to be perfectly honest, but one night only I feel, seems like a kind of cosy surrounding, and after that back to Piz Gloria and it's unique setting and lavish landscapes

I would of said the Zorin estate too, but it's not a hotel so to speak but a chateau setting, but even so, I would have jumped at the chance for a stay there

The Ocean Club in Nassau. It's one of the elements in CR I find most classic Bond. And, any hotel with a receptionist like that get's my vote!
  • Add me the Ocean Club list, sounds like it's going to be crowded.... ;-)

Ah man, that makes me feel old, as she's about 15 years younger than me, which, to be fair, was right up my street... ;-)

I wouldn't mind being the proud owner of Bond's briefcase, as seen in FRWL, but I'm a total sucker for the LALD watch. The magnetic field inducer and the cutting wheel all make sense in real life situations if you ask me.

In a second place, I suppose the Drax killing dart shooter on my wrist wouldn't lower my social status... too much. ;-)

Only one? Hmmm.... I'd like the laser watch, or the tear gas key, but I have to choose the Jetpack. I'd freak people out on planes when they're sleeping by knocking on the window then flying away, or I'd make everyone stuck in traffic jealous by flying round and round and round.

    Plus, babes dig Jetpacks ;)

Can we choose cars, if we can I'll have the underwater Lotus. I'd drive round under the sea near the beach, playing the jaws theme really loud :D
