Purely a dramatic choice. O:-)
A View To A Kill, The Living Daylights and Licence to Kill
or
Die Another Day, Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace?
Both follow similar patterns in terms of the tone and critical/audience reception, just interesting to see which one people prefer
It was just an interesting thought, what with AVTAK and DAD being seen (generally anyway) as poor weak films, TLD and CR being seen (generally anyway) as great films that redefined the Bond scene and LTK and QOS which have mixed views and are quite controversial.
You know, that's a terrific point @Signed_By_RogerMoore! Never have considered that before! Nice going!
A View to a Kill vs. Die Another Day
The Living Daylights vs. Casino Royale
License to Kill vs. Quantum of Solace
I could see myself going either way with TLD and CR, but the other two match-ups are easily decided!
Then with the 'winking fish' at the very end it dawned on us: was the city having a 'he's dead' party at Sanchez' mansion??? :O That is as morbid as it is awesome!!!
I seriously think that's what they were doing!

As a matter of fact, I think that warrants a brand new 'Dalton' meme!!

For me, it's a landslide in favour of AVTAK-TLD-LTK. By our logic, that means SF will be like GE, which wouldnt be a bad thing ;)
Haha snap! Just finished it too...simply brilliant. I always thought it was that, which is a bit crude. The Presidents corrupt and yet Bond endorses him. I think a more poignant scene at Della's grave/funeral with Bond and Pam walking off together would have been more fitting
Thanks.
Different era, different times, change, change and more change is what it is Mr Murdock
Maybe they'll bring it back for this years 50th anniversary release, but nobody hold their breath..
Maybe you had interpreted it wrong. Maybe the STYLE of the Bond of the Books which Films were with RM as Bond was Ian's favourite, more than the Bond of the other ones.
I would say Tatiana from FRWL imo
Definitely, I mean there's the whole "give a wolf a taste" line from Kerim, and boy was he ever right!
Anybody?
Also, if she's flirting with Bond and saying how great and fun her brother is, it may seem like no man can top him?
My two suggestions :)
Been a long time in my defense, but another question that could be asked, was - 'Why did Connery have to participate in a bit of Roger Moore-esque nonsense in the pre credits sequence when it was only two years after his superlative performance in From Russia With Love and probably the most straight faced and serious Bond performance you will ever see, and that includes anything Craig has done'
It was all a bit too much humor, too soon. This was evident in Goldfinger too
For all the talk people say about FRWL being the best Bond film, why is it until recently the producers were desperate to make the next GF or TB? It was clear that that was what they were going for (not in EVERY film admittedly but most of them). I don't get how Connery changed from FRWL to GF to TB, it's unbelievable to think that there was such a short space of time between each of these films.
With regards to TB, the jet had to be seen as the new DB5, the new gadget. It was unneeded and you are right, is a bit silly (how did it get up there?).
It was just a standard government office building in Whitehall, London where all the British government departments are based.
I think
Here's a question:
What if Sean Connery had made all the Bond films from Dr No to Licence To Kill? Would it have worked? People have said that they preferred Connery's physique in NSNA than DAF so who knows?
I wonder just how 'Bondy' he could be made to look--- granted not that far different from NSNA but still.
If that happened though, Connery would be to Bond like Peter Faulk was to Columbo and Harrison Ford to Indiana Jones-- it would be his character
Agree completely...I think the series would have stopped until maybe 2006 when they "rebooted" it. He would have been similar in LTK that Moore was in AVTAK
At the very least, it would have been cool to see Moore work with his original Felix again and to try some new daring things (for his Bond)
^Not my work
I always think its odd when people say FRWL is the best Bond film because compared to most it's a very different sort of movie. While FRWL is no doubt a great movie and I would place it among the greatest of the Bonds, it really is more of a spy movie than a Bond movie. That is to say that while films like ND, GF and TB are Bond movies which have the signature larger-than-life villains with over-the-top schemes, FRWL is just a rather ordinary spy movie which happens to star James Bond. The mission of going to Turkey to steal a Lector-decoder with the help of a defecting Russian agent sounds more like the dull plot of a novel by Le Carre than it does an exciting Bond movie, but then again when you inject the character of James Bond into the story, it quickly becomes more much more interesting.
As for the expansion of silliness from one movie to the next, I think it's important to remember the immense celebrity which Connery's movies generated in such a short amount of time. In the 60's Bond became a household name overnight and the films were the epitome of cool so they began to have to out-do themselves while still delivering Bond films, so naturally the movies began to include a bit of self parody as they tried to make things bigger and better.
And as for the jet and how it got up there, I though the same thing for the longest time about that being ridicules until just recently when I re-watched TB and figured out that it was quite odious. Bond flew it up there after the funeral so that he could be there to meet Col. Bouvar when he returned home. Then having killed him, he flew it back to his car to make a speedy getaway. Still outlandish but if it were feasible, it would be 'very practical'.
Secondly, if he was out of it by Diamonds, imagine how further he could of deteriorated in subsequent releases throughout the 1970s. The bottom line is, Connery was one of the best Bonds ever, but his time was between 1962-65, what came after that was a disappointment. Connery just about saved himself by finally quitting the role in 1971, a bit later than should of been, but a near disaster was averted. Moore was more than suitable to replace in 1973, and if not for his Saint involvement, really should of been in place after Thunderball, and maybe to save Connery a measure of embarrassment
As if seeing FYEO and OP back to back today on the big screen wasn't enough, this pic has just completed my night. I've heard of the possibilities of Moore in TLD but never LTK.
