    I can offer no other source but I have heard the same thing. They were lucky that the B footage was rolling and the explosives were started too soon. They were able to fill in the gaps with pick up shots. I have always envisioned a "The Party" type thing where an extra is tying his shoes, accidently hits the plunger and there go the explosions. LOL

    I bought the Some Kind of Hero book toady, from The Works shop in Wolverhampton. A fiver! Bargain for such a hefty tome. But where does the title come from? I've heard it before, and thought it was a Fleming chapter title, but I can't find it in any of my books.

    I deeply sympathise. It's not like me to be so quick with a reply on a film Bond question. I'm probably a bit rusty in my knowledge there now, but on occasion I like to rise to the challenge! ;)

    Is there a scene where Bond says (maybe to Q) "You can't imagine how things get wasted out there..." or something like that?

    As the book title? Yes, it's certainly an interesting choice of film for the authors to choose their title from. I suppose it is a good overall title though as it's pretty general in nature and can be interpreted in several different ways, just like the Bond character itself.

    I see it as a sort of symbolic phrase for the character, rather than a nod or homage to DAD. Something like "Licence to Kill", or "History of Violence", "Shaken not Stirred". "Some Kind of Hero" summarises an aspect of the character. Yes he's a hero, but to who, and at what cost (as Mathis says, "sometimes the heroes and villains get all mixed up" and Raoul - "one man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter").

    I expect the authors keyed in to the dialogue, really. Yes it's existing language in Western culture, but I also expect it's something in the Die Another Day dialog they reacted to.

    They want to sell their book, after all. It's both apropos relatable to a Bond film. I didn't get a copy yet but surely it's referenced there.

    I was being frivolous (for once) about the DAD nod. It's a great title, I'll get to reading the book sometime.

    Some Kind of Hero is probably the best single-reference book on the Bond films. It should be on every fan's book shelf. But try to get the second printing--the first has lots of typos, thanks to publishers too cheap to hire a copy-editor.

    Another question from me. Why does Graves say "kill him quietly" to Zao after Bond escapes in the Ice Palace in DAD. He says it in Korean, but there's subtitles. Quietly? Has anyone noticed this? It seems an odd thing to say.

    Ever wonder why Bond eschews a cover in CR and in QOS. In both cases it bites him in the ass. Maybe he didn't like Field's work on the hotel and teachers on sabbatical but it strikes me as amateur and careless.

    Anyone else see it this way? Why does his Bond discard with the cover set up by Mi6?

    He is amateur and careless in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. That's the point of that scene in Casino Royale; Vesper has to tell him that he's being reckless and giving Le Chiffre information about himself, while gaining nothing.

    You've asked a good question; it's the theme of Casino Royale (and by extension Quantum of Solace) that the new 00 agent must grow and develop and learn to 'trust no one' etc., in order to become the man we know as James Bond.

    I’m guessing he figured the hotel guests were non-Korean speakers.

    I think it's a mistake in the translation. I'd gamble he says "kill him now" which translates as 'kill him quickly' which ended up as 'kill him quietly' on the subtitle by mistake. Quietly just doesn't make sense.
