In Moonraker why does Bond take a flight from Venice to Rio on an Air France plane? I'm assuming that he left from Venice because that's where we last saw him. I'm sure that Air France airlines flies all over the world but it seems like product placement to me since a good portion of the film was shot in France. Or perhaps it was a sign of gratitude from EON? Most likely it was that the crew flew from France to Rio de Janeiro and it was the easiest way to capture the shot.

Because he wanted to go by Concorde which didn't fly from Italy. It's only taxpayers money after all - wouldn't you?

And incidentally Rog and some of the crew did arrive on that very plane and the shot of Rog coming down the steps was when he actually got off for real. Lewis Gilbert got out first with a cameraman and they set up and then Rog got off.

Actually I think according to the making of documentary, Rog got off the Concorde, changed clothes, had his make up done then climbed back up the steps in order to film the scene as Bond coming out of the plane.

Yep I think you might be right actually.

Ha, yes. I suppose Bond is worth it seeing how many times he's saved the world and all.

Now that you mention it, I do remember hearing that story before.

I had this one on my head from a long time: in QOS, Bond asks Camille if she had shot someone before and then she looks at him. Does it mean that she has (and that the question was obvious) or that she hasn't (and that's why Bond explains it won't be like the training)?

Why did Kingsley Amis use a pseudonym?

Kingsley Amis was asked that very question in an interview with Raymond Benson, here's his response:

"Ah. Well, that was agreed between myself and the publisher and Glidrose. Partly for my convenience. Because it set it apart from my other works. But really, more at the time, it was considered possible that other writers might like to have a crack at it. And so it would be there for all other writers doing sequels in a few years - it would be less confusing if they all had the same pseudonym. No attempt to dissuade the public that it was the same man, but it would be more convenient to market the books and so on."

In short, Kingsley Amis wanted to be the new Caroline Keene or Franklin W. Dixon.

Do you think Harry Palmer would exist in Connery's Bond Universe?

One thing that has always buggered me is why the actor who plays M the only one who is credited as their characther in the trailers, the title sequence and on the posters?
This goes way back to Dr. No when Bernard Lee played M, but why is it like this?

I came across this article and there was a quote that Craig said "I've been trying to get out of this from the very moment I got into it," This really shocked me. I didnt think he was like that with the 007 role. I can understand his fustrations that he has a great 007 start in Casino Royale but then a shitty follow up with QoS. I just want to ask is there any truth to this article did Craig really want to stop playing Bond after Skyfall had it not been a success?

    Answer: No.

Where can this 'discussion' even go?

Yes because he signed on before September 2011 before the film came out plus Skyfall couldn't have not been able to earn money, it's Bond. Every film to date has earned a profit.

Plus DC also said he'd kept doing them until he couldn't.

@fjdinardo, why have you made two topics on this and then posted it elsewhere after you question had been answered? It was a quote taken out of context. The end.

Not to mention Craig has said he's looking forward to playing Bond more now, than ever before.

I posted it the 2nd time in the actors section because the first one was in the news section then someone sent me the questions disscussion so i posted it here. People get very anal when it comes to someone making a disscussion here no offense

@fjdinardo, it didn't have anything to do with the section; mods don't close threads because it's placed in the wrong section, because you can just edit a topic's section if it stays open. It was the fact that it's just been asked and answered quite a few times before. A second topic changed nothing, and even posting it here wasn't necessary. You got your answer, though.
  • Isn't he being paid something like 20 million quid for his next film? Even if he hated the character (and it's fairly obvious he doesn't), he'd stick with it for the money anyway.

It's Daniel being his regular smart arse self; read between the lines. He's having a fool of the interviewer.

Could someone please take a look at my previous question? I feel like Nancy in OHMSS when nobody pays her attention...

I figure that if she had shot someone, Bond wouldn't need to explain that it's not like the training, because she would already have experienced that. I'd go with "no, she hasn't shot anyone".

I make it a point to entertain every QoS question. Upon reviewing the scene, I don't think she had killed anyone. The look she gave Bond seemed to be one of someone who was quite new to firing her gun and executing a fellow human being, and I think Bond was able to read that in her eyes and provided her with the advice. The way she seemed obsessed over whether the gun functioned properly made me think she was nervous yet prepared at the same time to get it all over with, and she was busying herself with the weapon to fill the time until she and Bond could make a move on the hotel.

@0BradyM0Bondfanatic7, I would agree with you, but how is she new to executing people if she instantly raised her weapon in the car on Bond when they first meet and fired? She would've blown his brains out had he not reacted. I think her fiddling with the gun and stripping/re-stripping it was just her ensuring that there weren't going to be any firearm issues when the time finally came to exact her revenge, and that she could pull off a shot without worry of her gun jamming and not getting the one chance she's waited years for.

Just because she knows how to handle a gun doesn't mean that she has killed someone, though. The gun training was no doubt beaten into her head when she was in her beginning years of service, since it is integral to survival, but maybe she hadn't yet pulled the trigger on a live target.

I just feel like she has killed before, given that she goes to shoot Bond when they first meet with zero hesitation. Seems like a pretty confident maneuver for someone new to killing to me. But, of course, it's all debate, nobody is right or wrong. What I do know, though, is that she had one superb relationship with Bond. I loved it.

Interesting interpretations, fellas. I tend to think that she has killed, and she looks at Bond as saying it is obvious, and then Bond explains that this time will be different because of the personal nature. But your points are also fair, @0Brady and @Creasy47. So I'm glad it ambiguous and not a lack of attention on my side.

Was Roger Moore the only actor to play Bond to leave the role on good terms with the producers?
Sean you all know what his deal was, George gave up 7 film deal producers probably didnt like that, Dalton left after waiting to long for his 3rd film Cubby probably didnt like that either, Pierce was expecting to do a 5th film but the Producers let him go and he wasnt happy about that and Craig is still the current Bond

So was Roger the only one?

The long wait wasn't Dalton's fault. Officially he resigned but although Cubby stated he wanted him to stay on I think it was a fairly amicable decision for both parties as Tim just wasnt putting bums on seats.
  • Probably barking up the wrong tree with a Bond continuity question, but this one comes from early in the series.

In From Russia With Love, Bond famously mentions his adventure with M in Tokyo. But then in You Only Live Twice, he (and everyone else) acts like it's his first time in Japan.

It's theoretically possible that Bond was making up the story about M, but M turns the radio off immediately, and Bond spent the rest of the conversation trying to keep Tania talking about the Lektor, so it's out of character for him to make up a diversion. What gives?
