But why stage the shooting of 006, if you are going to kill Bond right after?

Didn't he ask to hold fire?

Maybe the only point of entry of the facility where Bond can enter undetected is at the base of the mountain, so he must jump from the dam, enter through the vent and then crawl back up again? :P

There could have been spiders, running water or heated metal in that vent. ;)

Which is why Brosnan is better than Connery - Sean's Bond does not like spiders at all. ;)

Yes, but wasn't that only after it looked like Bond was doomed to driving off a cliff...they'd already expended a lot of bullets trying to kill him

In OP, when Bond tells the US general about the bomb, Magda tells Octopussy 'he'll derail the entire operation' (or something like that). Who is she referring to? Bond or Kamal Khan?

    1) Anybody knows about TMWTGG as a screenplay to be shot in Cambodia in the 60's but cancelled due to war?

    2) Baron Samedi appeared at the end of LALD in order to come back in the next film. Is that true?

In YOLT when Bond tells Kissy to "get back to Tanaka and tell him to come here with ever man he's got" how much time do you think passed when Bond said then and by the time Kissy & Tanaka came back with all the men? Because it seems like it didn't take Kissy all that long to get back to Tanaka

    2) Yes, that's true too! It's in the commentary

Not really a question, more of an observation.
During the brilliant train sequence in FRWL, where Grant has Bond on his knees, confessing the Spectre plan as devised by Kronsteen. Grant says that the idea is to make it look like a suicide with Bond killing Tania then obviously himself.
However moments later after Bond asks which lunatic asylum Spectre found him in, Grant says, the first one wont kill you, not the second, not even the third.
What kind of suicide takes three goes to complete...with a gun!

Actually, there have been more questionable deaths called suicides in the US judicial system

I always understood it like this: Grant tells him of SPECTRE plan when he is calm, has his eye on the mission and what needs to be done. When Bond taunts him with his lunatic asylum line, he touches a nerve that unveil part of Grant's madness and sadism.

And that said, even if Grant does do all these things, he could still make it look like Tanya tried to resist Bond before being killed and then Bond committed suicide.
  • Exactly how long is James Bond supposed to be hanging from the mooring line on Zorins blimp at the end of A View To A Kill?

They did seem to travel a fair bit to get from the mines to the Golden Gate bridge, and not at very high speed either. I'd say around 20 minutes?

I guess Bond has tremendous upper body strength. ;)

True! That's my source, but is there any other source about both questions?

    ??? anyone?

Well, Tanaka's men were already on the island. And Kissy probably went only as far as the cache where Bond found the Ninja equipment he recovered before infiltrating Blofeld's volcano, cache which contained a radio qhe could have used to make contact.

I think Bond did the trick of looping the line around his feet, so his upper body wasnt doing most of the word.

On YOLT, it's funny how Tech has changed over time. As now Kissy could
Whip out her phone and just send a text. ;)

Wow I feel like such an idiot. I've seen FRWL many times and it never occurred to me that Grant shooting Bond multiple times in areas that wouldn't kill him would look like a pretty questionable suicide. Good observation.

I've got a quick question. In TND. during the Carver party scene what exactly was Bond's plan, He basically gives up his cover immediately by antagonizing Carver. I understand M told him to use his relationship with Paris "if necessary" but he could've done that without getting cute with Carver. Am I missing something?

I caught about an hour or so of TND yesterday on TV and I liked it more this time than I have in years. I think a full re-watch is in order.

That is probably just the narcissistic side of Bond. Same as in Casino Royale and others.

Connery wore a wig in all his Bond films. Did Roger wear a wig too?

To my knowledge no but I did hear that they had to employ some tricks to hide the fact that Moore's hairline was thinning in AVTAK.

I figured the same but it's just that Bond is so aggressive with it in that scene. Maybe it's more of a dialogue issue than anything else.

In CR... Why is Le Chiffre named Le Chiffre? How did he get this name, since his background is not related to France as in the novel? I noticed he also watches French news after the failed terrorist attack on Skyfleet.
