It's the editing and the hideous shaky-cam that put Quantum of Solace behind the bars. I do feel the script is rather decent. Not great, but decent.

    I agree.

QOS directed by Martin Campbell would undoubtably be the best Bond since FRWL. The greatest opportunity missed ever in the franchise.

Agreed. However that wouldn't have stopped the writers strike. However, that isn't to say Campbell's potential vision for QOS wouldn't haven't saved it.
  • QOS's writing is slightly better than SP (but SP is a better film overall IMO). The writing is in fact a bit better than some of the other films in the canon. E.g. AVTAK and TWINE.

    Is Mr White racist?

If there was a new Bond villain who was black and called Mr Black and who was evil, would that not be considered some sort of stereotype?

No, it's just that Quantum's members seem to have colour-coded names. I'm very sure that there was no racial intent there.

Exactly. White, Greene, Silva... They all refer to colours.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my god how did I not realise this?

EDIT: Wait, if Silva was colour-coded from his inception, was SF always meant to be tied back to Quantum?

Long before the release of SPECTRE, someone speculated that EON intended to hint that Silva worked for Quantum, since at one point Silva says he could "Rig an election in Uganda" (when he tells Bond he could pick his own secret missions). But, apart from that, nothing in the movie seems to suggest that Silva worked for an organization.

    Interesting.

Following on from the question regarding Silva being part of Quantum / Spectre this line in SF made me think..
If you wanted, you could pick your own secret missions. As I do. Name it, name it. Destabilize a multinational by manipulating stocks. Bip. Easy. Interrupt transmissions from a spy satellite over Kabul... done. Hmm. Rig an election in Uganda. All to the highest bidder.

Could this be a reference to Skyfleet stocks in CR perhaps?

Hmmm...very good observation. Perhaps it is a reference.

This clicked for me earlier this morning, in GE:

Wade to Bond: "Yo James, I got faith, but be careful...he knows you're coming."

How would Trevelyan know that? Wouldn't he be under the assumption that Bond died in the train explosion?

Well, he meant that before Bond could infiltrate the base, Trevelyan will know... which was what happened. The man just won't take a hint. ;)

Do we think there's a reason why Bond is left un-focused in the final scene of Spectre?

QUANTUM is a Top ten for me. I like it just as it is. You throw the gun barrel up front and it's near perfect.

Me too. I've always liked it.

If you're referring to the scene where Bond and Madeline are in the Aston, I believe it was to show Madeline in focus. The significance was that they were still together and that Bond had left MI6 for her.

Funny thing is, even in the final shooting script, that scene had the line with Bond saying "We have all the time in the world." I bet it was left out the last minute.

I hadn't heard that before. It's a good thing that they left it out. I don't want an OHMSS remake in the future.

If the line was kept, it wouldn t necessarily follow that she would be murdered. You are reacting like Pavlov s dogs.

Bond was wearing a product-less white watch with black leather straps on it in that scene. ;)

I can think myself and @Dragonpol can think of a few
Bond watch experts who'd be investigating, the precise
Make and model ;) luckily I'm not one of those guys. :D

Yes, that's the main obsession of the "other place", the great AJB. I'm not one of those guys either. :D

I'm currently playing through Nightfire PC and I'm experiencing a lot of glitches. Is this normal? Sometimes I get stuck in place (I think I clip into nearby walls), and other times dead enemies will go sailing into the air forever if the bodies are near an explosion (hilarious, but weird). Has anyone else had this happen?

That's weird. I played it billion times and it hardly has ever happened with me. Perhaps.. you'd like the Click4Dylan modification of the game that fixes the bugs and glitches of the game?

Has anyone noticed the number on the table Bond is seating at in Dr. No at the casino? A reference to the Casino Royale novel, where it was the same number that was picked for Bond at the Baccarat table.
