I would be in favor of them using Goldeneye again if it was third person - I still think a 3rd person Goldeneye game would be incredible. Imagining Bond chasing down 006 in the cradle in a 3rd person mode makes me absolutely hate how every developer seems to get it stuck in their head that Bond only works in FPS.
Thank god it's FPS. Could careless which bond....pretty sure all you can see is a hand when you're playing anyway.
1. It's likely Dr. No will be one of the films, because it's the 50th anniversary, and EON seems to put a lot of attention towards this one.
2. The six films, eight iconic villians had me confused for a while. The way I see it, there are two this posible.
2.1. Villians like Blofeld or Mr. White are iconic villians, but not the main villian of the story. They can operate on the background throughout all the levels/films.
2.2. Some movies have two villians where it's not really clear whose the henchman and whose the main. like TWINE and TLD (really hoping for TLD to be included)
Ofcourse, they could just be counting the henchmen as well. If so, there are two other possibilities:
2.3. Although the main 6 villians are featured, only 2 of their henchmen appear in the game.
2.4. Blofeld is a villian, and they use YOLT, OHMSS and DAF, which all have him as the main baddie, but he would only count as one villian.
3. It's highly likely that movies with a well-known name/ great cultural impact will be featured. Therefor it's almost a certainty that Goldfinger will be featured (this, in combination with the Dr. No argument would make for 2 Connery movies). It's also likely TSWLM is featured. This gives me good hope for TLD, which I believe is populair with both fans and general public. This rule would unfortunatly reflect negatively on fan favorites like FYEO and LTK, which are lesser known to the public.
3.1. However, and I might slightly contradict myself here, it seems to Bond producers really want to make this year about the Bond fans first, general audience second. We've seen this in ,for instance, a classic 007 film (SkyFall), this game, which is something (in some way or form) we've been asking for years. There for, and since I get the feeling EON has been reading these forums quite regularly, films like OHMSS and FYEO might still get a chance because they are loved by the fans, and because of these fans have gotten accepted and liked more by the general public. LTK might make it because some fans really, reallly love it (myself included) and it has a bankable name (name that sounds cool for the GP, because it's got KILL in it).
So, maybe I've put to much thought into it, but that's what I think about it.
Forget map packs, they add little longevity to MP gameplay. We need DLC for the main story, since it'll undoubtedly be short.
Poll: Which movies would you like in the game?
Got this link from the 007 legends twitter. http://twitter.com/#!/007Legends
LTK has barely any votes. Disgraceful. And people have voted for GE???? Do they not remember that they JUST MADE 2 more games based on GE???
Acually, I can see why people didn't vote for LTK, they wanted Dalton in there not Craig, without Dalton it's not as good. Makes sense now.
It's also stupid how many voted for CR. Why not vote for something that hasn't been made into a game, instead of voting for something that has been made into a game and that you can buy on current consoles.
To some people, it is.
I don't think so.
I think it's because the voters are mostly teenage gamers who don't even know Timothy Dalton and haven't seen any Bond movies older than Brosnan's.
GoldenEye and Casino Royale have the most votes. Both of them have video game adaptations. It's stupid to have those two in 007: Legends.
GE has *3* video game adaptations... including 2 released recently !! How many GE's does people want ?
Do you actually count GE2010Wii and GE2010Reloaded as 2 different games? Campaign-wise, they're one and the same. The only real addition Reloaded has is MI6 Ops.
Yes the games are the same... but GEReloaded is a port of the GeWii, so I consider them as 2 different games... had they been released at the same time on all consoles, I would say they are one and the same... but fact is both versions were had their own publicity campaign.... so yes they are 2 games of the same game. I've read that many people who have a PS3 or a XBOX360 actually bought a wii to play the first game instead of waiting for the reloaded versions... so indeed they are 2 different games.
I'm with @DC007 on this one. The games were spaced out and the PS3/XBOX360 had some different mechanics than the Wii version. They even have different names! 1 Bond, 2 games.
None. That's the problem. I love him, but Sean made FRWL the masterpiece it was, and DN, GF, and TB are further evidence of that. Roger made his films what they were, and so on. I just hate the idea of having Dan replace Sean, and now that my heart is being attacked I now see why Brosnan fans were so upset at GE2010 and GEReloaded.
Now you know how it feels >:)
Seriously though, I really hope they don't use Daltons films if it's only Craig. It's bad enough they put him in GE, but if they put him in TLD or LTK...
Then what? What are you going to do?
What an absurd thing to be upset about.
How is it an absurd thing to be upset about? Each Bond actor made their films great and I don't want Craig to replace them. This game will ruin every film it features except Craig's.
Plus, it's an FPS, it's only been developed for about a year and it's Activision, so there's a big chance that gameplay wise it'll just be a crap COD clone.
It's still Bond, or maybe an option to play as Dench's M would be better?
What Samuel said.
Bond is Bond (aren't we supposed to believe they are all one guy anyway?) and it's a video game (a FPS, no less...you kow, the ones where you rarely see the character you're playing as).
Ruining a legacy? You give the Wiimake and Reloaded to much credit. Last I checked, when I see Goldeneye on TV, Pierce Brosnan is still in the film. And nobody is like "isn't this the movie with Craig in it?"
Moreover, saying every Bond made their film great is operating from the premise that every Bond film is indeed great and, assuming this is true (it's not), that this greatness stemmed from each respective actor. More absurdity,
This is the way it needs to be. Or Activision's can somehow get their lawyers to revise contracts then spend millions in licensing.
Just imagine that every Bond really has done every mission, in their own version of the timeline. Lazenby, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan, and Craig all face off against Goldfinger at some point, for most before their movies, for Craig in between ir after, just as in every version of Superman, he will always go up against Lex Luthor, even if the character's backgrounds are slightly altered in this telling of the tale. That's what was always implied anyway in the old continuity of Bibd in a way anyway, such as how Dalton's Bond was married to Lazenby's wife from 1969.
The best part is, if you consider this game legacy changing canon and not just a fun time killer, that this will eatablish that Craig's Bond does indeed go on the missions we know and love in his universe, so he does indeed become that same old Bond.
Above all, I'd much rather get a chance to play these classics then not at all because I need my Dalton in it.
What about the PS1 and GCN versions of Resident Evil 2 or Resident Evil 3? Same game, different marketing campaigns, released years apart. Would you consider those versions separate games? And as far as different names, I'll use another Resident Evil reference: Resident Evil Code: Veronica and Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, again same game with different marketing campaigns released on different consoles a year apart.
As for buying a Wii to play the Wii version - I'm certain very few people knew, on November 2, 2010, that the game would eventually be ported to the PS3/360. I didn't know, and it wasn't even until the discovery of "GoldenEye Reloaded", that was reported by MI6 HQ, that I thought it might be ported over.
this is just the best post. I agree with britishchap. Its why I'm actually excited to play 007 legends.. still hoping for 3rd person cover system though.
See, I'd rather they just didn't use them at all if they can't get the actors, and instead came up with an original storyline, and I'm not the only one to think this.
