A lot of love for all these movies. My vote would go to whichever candidate's movie I felt like watching the most on election day.

Honourable mention to Nicolas Dupont, I like Match Point a lot (Scarlett and I are in a deeply committed relationship. I just haven't told her yet).

Firstly, great idea for a thread, @DC007! :)

Secondly, I choose Jean-Luc Melenchon, despite not being a communist. Politically speaking, this man and I wouldn't be on speaking terms even when discussing the weather. But anyone who quotes Blade Runner and Apocalypse Now as favourite movies, gets my vote in terms of film taste. ;-)

    Thanks @Dimi :)

As you love science, I think you'd like Cheminade, because in his program he wants to reduce the flight time between Earth to Mars, in order to colonize the planet.

    I kid you not !

"Jacques Cheminade (Solidarité et Progrès) will not have shaken off his reputation as the wacky candidate, even if he revealed a knowledge of culture and science that few other candidates could match. With undisguised relish his questioners asked about his proposal to fund a space programme aimed at colonising the planet Mars."

Wow! @-) I am absolutely baffled. Science should serve the good of humanity. It shouldn't consume the good of humanity for the sake of personal triumph. One day, in a very distant future, we might need to turn another leaf on the idea of colonizing space, but before we do that, we need to put our household in order.

Also, with ideas like this it appears to me like this man intents on raising interest in his persona, rather than in his capacities. However, I'm an outsider in this matter so correct me if I'm wrong please.

Yep, some very good flicks there, even some favourites of mine. Wouldn't share a theatre (or the country) with the racist, but the films are fine. My picks would be a RASHOMON/SPARTACUS/LITTLE BIG MAN government.

He was a candidate in the 1995 election, and earned 0,27% of the votes... his campaign money was declared illegal, thus he owns almost 200 000 euros to the state ( and hasn't payed his debt in nearly 20 years).... since then he couldn't get the important 500 signatures from mayors to be qualified for the 2002 and 2007 elections.... until he succeeded this year.
